I don't get to do anything for halloween :(
I have to work...In fact I've had to work or be at a football game for the past five years...I don't even know what its like anymore... If I could dress up tho, I would be...Mother Earth w/ green leotards and baggy brown shirt, leaves and flowers woven into my hair and through my shirt, vines crawling down my arms and legs... I really wish I could dress up |
I'm gonna be a disgruntled traveller for Halloween.

LJ, is that costume homemade? The logo looks great.
|
yeah, started with a $9 tshirt from the disney store. i had the boots and gloves. i cut the mask out of felt, $0.20 elastic band $1.44. black stretchy underwear $5.90. the big ticket item was the red union suit from carhart $40 shipped (but i'll wear that again this winter, i'm sure) the belt was a piece of fabric $2.60 and velcro to close it $1.44 again. $2 sewing kit...... $62.58. but the only parts i won't continue to use cost $5.68.

Do I read you correctly? You Aussies DON'T celebrate Halloween? Tragic. I'd think Oz would be Halloween Headquarters. LJ--you look awesome. My nephew is going to be the boy Incredible. |
We dont Bri!!! The last few years certain suburbs in the major cities have started their own little halloween/trick or treat thingie.
But other than that we dont, its just another nite. Occasionally, if someone is having a birthday that weekend, it will be turned into a Halloween party. |
mmmmmm......
I admire the US attitude to Hallow'een, and the inventiness they deploy in their costumes and preparations for that night. I reaaly do wish that had been translated over the pond to us in good old Blighty..... but, sadly, that is not the case.... Rather, it has become not just an occasion when pre-teens can bang upon your door and demand 'trick or treat' without the slightest comprhension of the culture behind that phrase, but also a 'marketing opportunity' for our supermarkets to offload several tons of rather tacky 'hallowe'en party essentials', which consist in the most part of rubberised face-masks that approximate a childs perception of a vampire, and possibly even (in the de- luxe versions) a candle to put inside the (optional extra) turnip head. |
As Halloween is a weekday, I will be at work. Although there are people on day shift in nursing that dress up (this is a recent innovation), generally it is not a good idea to put on masks and facepaint around people who already think they see demons.
I do have my Official Pointy Witch Hat, but haven't worn this at work since I moved down to the clinical side. |
