That's just the spin his handlers came up with after the fact.

If more people did educate themselves about what's really going on in the world then people like Bush wouldn't be in power.

Whether it was a joke or not doesn't change the fact that what Kerry said was a fact.

Spexxvet 11-01-2006 04:43 PM

People who vote for Bush may know what's going on in the world, and that's the way they like it. Sad.

Well you never know. Maybe if the military get sick of being used as cannon fodder they may decide to instigate a coupe, then you'll all be glad you're armed and dangerous...cept those of you who don't own guns...then you'll just be dangerous, cause deadly force doesn't always come from a gun. ;)

I agree with everything Kerry said and I applaud how he defended himself from the Republicans trying to accuse him of insulting the troops, but this photo is still funny so I'll share.

Aliantha 11-01-2006 05:44 PM

lmao...now THAT'S funny!

The average military person's IQ is 8 points above the average American's.

Aliantha 11-01-2006 06:00 PM

Well that just goes to prove they rig the tests doesn't it?

Aliantha 11-01-2006 06:01 PM

Either that or pretty much everyone in the US is a bit below par. ;)

This site is always interesting to look at.

Also, have a look at this wikipedia site.

Just be glad you're not from Equatorial Guinea!

You know education, you make the most of it, you study hard, do your homework, work hard, you do well. If you don‘t, you get stuck in Iraq.

Yesterday, I was in the state of Texas. As you all know, President Bush used to live there. Now he lives in a state of denial, a state of deception. I‘m glad to be here with you now, I really, thank you. We‘re here to talk about education and I want to say something. You know education, you make the most of it, you study hard, do your homework, work hard, you do well. If you don‘t, you get stuck in Iraq.
I think he was joking. His preceding comment is a similar Bush-is-dum lefty line of the sort that did not win him the election two years ago.

US Army Lowers Recruiting Standards Due To Iraq

Lower standards help Army meet recruiting goal

Maybe it's just a small slip, but it's still a relaxation of the previous standards. How much further do you think it'll go?

Undertoad 11-01-2006 06:49 PM

The articles you are referencing are only one branch of the US Armed Forces. The USA Today article suggests that 2,600 soldiers were recruited who otherwise would not have made the cut. Out of 450,000 soldiers, perhaps they lowered the average a point.

Aliantha 11-01-2006 06:51 PM

Unlikely to be even that much I'd say. From my perspective it's more about the fact that the military in any way is willing to compromise it's standards simply for the sake of gathering recruits.

On the other hand, they need people to fight the wars, so I can see the difficulty they're facing.
