Maybe it's just a small slip, but it's still a relaxation of the previous standards. How much further do you think it'll go?

The articles you are referencing are only one branch of the US Armed Forces. The USA Today article suggests that 2,600 soldiers were recruited who otherwise would not have made the cut. Out of 450,000 soldiers, perhaps they lowered the average a point.

Unlikely to be even that much I'd say. From my perspective it's more about the fact that the military in any way is willing to compromise it's standards simply for the sake of gathering recruits.

On the other hand, they need people to fight the wars, so I can see the difficulty they're facing.
