No, I really wasn't. Liking chocolate and vanilla both is okay - but liking vanilla more than chocolate? A sin.

The exception, however... Bluebell.
A nice scoop of plain vanilla Bluebell... heaven.

It's a new seasonal flavor by Blue Bell (I don't know if you get them in the midwest or not, I think they're a primarily Southern company). It'll probably only be here for awhile, they do a lot of rotation. I keep hoping they'll bring back their cantaloupe seasonal flavor, that was the best ice cream I have ever had, period.

Is that the Blue Bell (The Little Creamery) in Brenham, Texas, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Sylacauga, Alabama?
If it is, I don't see Delta Blues..... damn it.

At a price of $89, for four half gallons of your favorite Blue Bell flavors, we can ship anywhere in the USA.* Most of the cost is a result of the shipping charges, but it is one way to get "the best ice cream in the country" to you or someone else who can't get it otherwise.
Yes, I said four Delta Blues. No, I don't want vanilla or chocolate.... what do you think I'm stupid? foolish?

busterb 04-28-2007 01:44 PM

A few years back, someone had blueberry cheese cake around. Great. No more. Crap.

Clodfobble 04-28-2007 06:05 PM

That's the one, Bruce. Maybe we're in some sort of test market for it, I don't know. I've heard of/had all the other flavors on that list, so maybe the super-brand-new flavors don't get on it right away.

Edit: I don't see the awesome cantaloupe flavor anywhere on their website either. Heck, maybe for $90 I could figure out a way to ship some to you.

Mint chocolate chip, cookie dough. Yum.

I never have had Cherry Garcia.

duck_duck 04-28-2007 06:21 PM

Milk chocolate is my favorite but I also like to have vanilla with chocolate syrup mixed in.

Clodfobble 04-28-2007 06:24 PM

Ah ha!!

If you go to their "Extra Scoops" and then "Latest Contests" links:

Similar state and regionally-oriented ice cream flavors produced by Blue Bell over the years have included Mardi Gras, Key Lime Pie, Georgia Peach Cobbler, Mississippi Mud Pie, Southern Pecan Pie, and Cantaloupe ‘n Cream, to name a few.
I bet Delta Blues is a Mississippi-special flavor. Why we have it in Texas, I don't know.

jinx 04-28-2007 06:41 PM

The only ice cream I consider worth eating is green tea. Chunky Monkey is a distant second, but I haven't had that in years.

lumberjim 04-28-2007 08:52 PM

Turkey Hill: Tin Roof Sundae. ok, what do I win?

bluecuracao 04-29-2007 01:43 AM

I'll have to ask the Franklin boys if she's willing.

fullove557 04-29-2007 02:37 AM

I just prefer chocolate, what about you?

Of course I believe everyone has a right to enjoy their own personal favourite, but I can't help feeling that Americans complicate their ice-creams too much. Not an allegorical statement - I've decided to take the question at face value ;)

Ben & Jerry's? Faugh. Always seems to have something in it that I don't like - usually some form of nuts or cake product. Or bananas, which everyone knows are the devil's favourite food.

Probably not fair of me to make it a US issue - I find Pret a Manger (Brit sandwich shop) does the same - cucumber in just about everything for example, and I can't bear the stuff. Even if I don't taste it at the time I burp up the flavour all evening.

My all time favourite would be a simple, plain, good quality vanilla. For fancy ice cream I'd have a Haagen Daaz Vanilla Chocolate Fudge (rich vanilla with seams of chocolate and fudge). And yes, I know they're American too :)
