That's a rough one CG. That song is always being played. I'm sure its caught you at some moments you didn't need it.

That song always seemed a little eerie to me. I'll think of you and your friend next time I hear it. Peace.

It's never the songs/ albums that I've bought, because I play them over and over and they lose the connection with the time/ person.

But many times I've been able to answer in pub quizzes, or what-was-the-year radio programmes because I can relate individual hits to what or who was happening in my life.

1997/98 music is especially poignant. I was falling for a man who was very bad for me. I hurt a man who loved me completely and was therefore (temporarily) at odds with my family. The company I loved, the job I loved was no longer viable and I had no proper framework in any part of my life. I got my driving licence (so was in the car listening to the radio quite often). I moved from a town to a city.

Don't Speak - No Doubt, reminds me of a trip to Rome with my husband. I was already unhappy and the song (although from the opposite point of view) was in my head the whole time.

Griff, classicman, thanks.

Yes, it has caught me off guard at times.

When that happens, I have a beer in his memory.
