ha! it's ORR-in. My daughters think it's very cool that they had their babies in one week, and we have Orion and Auryn. Anyway, finally got pics. In the first one (assuming my post comes out right) you can see the "birthing tub" in the background; also the fancy sling for which I purchased a fancy fleece for the baby. that's the proud mama and big brother.
and I say "arrrrng" which I know is wrong, but just have always said it that way. |
OK I videoed Hebe saying "orange" tonight. I'll get n posting it...

I loved that book when I was a kid. |

My kids (with their midwestern twang) say aawrnge. Dear Brits, we were so happy to move from where we were as our 3yo started to show signs of a Brummie accent ...only to end up in the "Midwest", whose accent has about the same appeal to the residents of the rest of the country! Karma, what a bitch! |
Monster you're qute right re North/ South. I hadn't thought of that.
Now I would say that we say orange as Case wrote it - OR-ringe. But I look forward to the Hebe version. I was having a bowl of basil & tomato soup the other night and watching the US version of Queer as Folk. Debbie was making something and mentioned both basil and tomato. Bay-sil and tom-ay-to. I couldn't stop saying to to myself. That's what I call that soup now :) |
and you know, I read it as baysill and tomaydo ;) we're being assimilated :borg:

Thanks!

Re: Cloud's pics.
Inflatable home-birthing pool. Check. Baby sling/swing. Check Child named after magical talisman. Check. Third generation hippies. CHECK! Love you. |
Haha. Oh, you betcha! BD#2 is an even bigger hippie than me, if that's possible, and born 30 years too late.
I got her some Nag Champa "Midnight" incense in commemoration. |
Beautiful baby, Cloud. Congratulations!
I don't get it, monster. Is it like Off-ringe? Hmm. I have only ever heard one pronunciation of orange and it sounded like O-winge. Which sounds funny to me. Hebe says it the way I do, from what I can tell...just or-indge. SG, it is baysil and tomayto. :) |
orange only has 1 syllable for me--does it have 2 for you?
and thanks, Case, and everyone who's made complimentary remarks about my progeny. Babies are . . . . red, wrinkly, and only cute to their immediate family. They make 'em that way on purpose, you know . . . |
beest's "orange" was only slightly merkinized. hell yes it has two syllables, cloud!
thank goodness your grandbabies aren't at all awrnj. squirrel and mirror have two syllables too ;) |
Yes, orange has 2 syllables. So does Mirror, but sometimes I hear "mirr-ah" from my step kids who live most of the time in south Texas. Squirrel has one syllable for me.
