No I suppose not, but the local emergency text alert system is used to announce flyovers and street closures as well as real emergencies. So most people who signed up for it initially after September 11th have now opted out.

I honestly don't feel like if my house gets hit directly that even in the bathroom, I'll be safe. So why spend my last moments bored or cowering in fear? Plus I need my comp to check the weather.
