There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying the stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying the stairway to heaven.

Sorry, there are rules about playing that song. I know it, but you won't hear me play it.

ZenGum 10-06-2011 10:25 PM

I too know the order of the notes (for the opening part, anyway) but for me to play them would violate at least three international conventions, especially the one about torture.

How do you feel about Acoustic Queen?

This is an especially enthusiastic version, and I *know* you know it.

I think I will try Hallelujah first. I was just checking it out, and it seems easy enough. Plus, it's within my limited vocal range...

Oh, yeah... This is simple.... And really a pretty song. No wonder there are so many covers. Rufus Wainright's version is particularly good.

that song was nailed by KD at the olympics.

I adore Rufus Wainwright.
If I'd been in [mega] funds I'd have gone to see House of Rufus at the Royal Opera House.
An occasion and a celebration as much as a concert.

Love KD Lang too ;)

You need to cover his Dad's Dead Skunk as well.

Yeah, with several shovels full of dirt.

j/k

Loudon Wainwright has a ton of great songs.

This is a great one Jim:

I actually learned hallelujah all the way through last night. Recorded it, but couldn't get my new laptop to recognize the camera, so I didn't get the video extracted. I was in my cups a bit, so this is probably a good thing. It's hella fun to belt out, it is.

I have the kids tonight, so I will be sober, and its fun to embarrass spencer by singing loudly....so maybe I will give it another go. Maybe I'll have him man the camera and get Ripley sing some back up.

For Sundae:

This still needs work, but I kind of like it dirty and organic... So here is a shitty version of Hallelujah recorded about 15 minutes ago:

jimhelm 10-09-2011 11:51 PM

I have an easier time with the high notes if I stand up and sing loud....but I couldn't get th iPad pointed right for standing....
