I did a little research on why in the hell they would even make such a monster, pretty interesting. Seems the Shooters wanted a knock down one shot one kill without lugging the Barrett around.

I've not been too gung-ho about rifles, living in town, no car of my own, no place to shoot, etc. But I would love a nice AR in something reasonably fat. Say, .308. I just read an article on the .300 Blackout. Based on .221 Rem Fireball, same overall length as the 5.56.

ETA: There was also the Davidka, a mortar-like weapon used by the Israelis in 1948 but only because it was all they had. Nothing on Youtube on it, probably because no one has been stupid enough to fire one since then.
