Pico is a Chihuahua. At least thats what I was told. We got him from a pet rescue when he was one. He definitely has terrier in him though. I like that he looks a bit more like a fox than a Chihuahua and that he is bigger than what is popular with the breed right now. He weighs 13 pounds and the trend is a lot less than that...Im thinking around 6 - 8 pounds. Turbo and Pico are evenly matched in that regard and often tussle with each other or play chase games.

He still is a barker when we have visiters and although my husband hates that part, he really still likes Pico.

BTW, Jinxs photo really needs a caption. Something like..."Noooooooooz...I didnch. He wuz like thish when I wokes up." Or..." oh stop with the dramatics already"

The continuing adventures of Hershey. She's 17 and suffering from kidney problems, which means she gets fluids under her skin (subcutaneous for you fancy folks out there) three times a week and has a restricted diet plus some drugs to protect the kidneys and hopefully help her gain some weight.

She's down to 3 pounds, but even at her peak fighting weight she was never more than about 4.5 (doesn't seem like much of a difference, but it's still a 33% drop).

The docs recently held her overnight for a steady IV flow of fluids and this shaved place (which is growing back embarrassingly slowly for her, especially when I point and laugh) is her souvenir.

She's holding her weight and being herself, so that's great.

gtown, as a cat lover and with all due respect - isn't it time to let her go?
I'm sure you love her completely, but 17 is very old for a cat and I question her quality of life.

Obviously you know her far better than me, I'd just feel a hypocrite if I didn't post my feelings.

Not the best pic, but the only one I have on this comp. The one on the left is Bitsy, she died this past June 28th. She was my first dog, I had had her since 3rd grade. She was 12. Her favorite toy was a little stuffed chicken and she loved to hunt, would even chase frogs into the pond.
The one on the right is one of her pups, Daisy, poor thing is dumber than the rocks she finally(!) learned not to eat. She's really greedy and lazy, doesn't play or hunt. We love her anyway.
They are Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix.
There is also a black cat named Kitty, we never could agree on a name, and a black lab named Buddy, his meth-dealer former owner named him that. I'll try to get pics to post soon of them.

Bazai got so sick the week after we brought Dennis home, I really think that helped, as awful as it was. He just didn't have the energy to hate.

SundaeGirl: A good point and something we think of often. Despite her pathetic look in these pics, she still has a good quality of life. She's not a big fan of getting the fluids, but it's really helped her out.

Three weeks old!
 

The pups are now officially three weeks old.

Their eyes are wide open, they are getting along pretty well but cannot quite yet walk...they crawl everywhere.

The mother has taken to hiding them (thus only two in pictures...I dunno where she hid #3) under couches, chairs, between boxes and anywhere she thinks they can't be found. She's wrong though...the other dogs usually watch her hide them and even if they miss the move, they certainly can sniff the pups out. I wonder if dragging a puppy by the tail or hind leg is safe?

Those are some darling pups. I hate to ask, but are they destined to become slippers like the previous litter??? :D

Only if they keep pooping on the floor...

We have 2 cats, one 15 and one 20 yrs, still hanging in there, so as long as she is being herself, I say let her hang in there.

I wouldn't even raise the question if she wasn't ill.
But she's on medication, terribly thin, spending time at the vets.
Hanging in there is different than being stretched out.

However, thanks gtown for accepting my comment in the spirit it was made and not taking offence. It's not up to outsiders to make decisions about other people's pets' lives.

Speaking of pets' lives....

We have a pup that may not make it through the night.

The male managed to squirm out of my hand while I was carrying him to another room and fell.

He's at the animal ER now, on Oxygen. He has cerebral swelling and pulmonary edema. He was spitting up blood and I saw some in his stool as well. The vet is doing everything she can and hopes to be able to discharge him tomorrow.

If he doesn't respond to medication soon, however, his chances go from 50-50 to 20-80 against. They'll call me immediately if there's any change.

I'm back to religious again...
