The visit plus the specs put a small dent in the construction budget, not so small that a luna moth wouldn't notice...

Did you get lined bifocals? Also, if one eye is much worse than the other, be prepared for a BIG adjustment when you first wear them. As long as everything is clear, all the other weird perception issues will go away - just put them on and leave them on. And please don't tell me you got them at a chain store.

He needed chains last winter, now he needs glasses. ;)

Yes to lined bifocals. As for the big adjsutment, I know it will be tough because 15 years ago I got my first pair of glasses with a much milder correction and everything was slanted, nothing looked square, I was practically staggering around. I stopped wearing them after a short while, prefering the soft fuzzy look. Now the soft fuzzy look has become passe.

Just say no to chain stores. I like the doc, I like the service, what's 20 bucks more here and there? I ordered the bendy twisty frames, something flex, lined bifocals, and some really stealth antiglare program.

$355. for the whole thing, not including the exam. $99.

I've no idea if I've been had. It seems like a lot of money, but I don't do this very often.

i, too, wear bifocals. frames and lenses (bificoals cost beaucoup) can initially really set you back; so, in answer to your answer. this sounds reasonable to me on the cost side.

That's close to what I end up paying for frames and single vision lenses correcting for astygmatism, plus the fancy ass coatings and edge polishing. Of course, I have never been able to buy frames off the cheap rack.

The edge polishing is meant to camoflage the fact that I have damn thick glasses, even if I get the teeny ones that basically just cover my eyes. The clear edges seem to make it easier to see when I'm heading toward the ends of the lenses in my field of view. I really miss peripheral vision.

Hey, Spexxvet, has anybody come up with extended wear toric contacts yet?
