No, she works in an automobile dealership!

lumberjim 11-25-2006 10:40 AM

oh, that makes all KINDS of sense.

Especially the parts about drinking and cleavage.

DucksNuts 11-25-2006 03:57 PM

:D yay UT!!!!

Spot on, I told you some of my previous comments would make sense when you knew where I worked.

I am Business Manager at a New/Used Car Dealership and I write Finance ;)

lumberjim 11-25-2006 04:02 PM

the cleaveage close! a distinct advantage, indeed. the porn addict finance manager. my partner has many of our buyers on his porn email list. gets deals bought that shouldn't get bought because of his raport with them, too.

zippyt 11-25-2006 04:25 PM

"Buy this SUV, and your wife will never need to know about Backdoor Babes Vol. XLVII!"

The Porn addict is the business owner, he sells and writes, I run the show... Mechanics, Salesteam, Admin team etc.

I'm only exploited if its thought I will have more luck with the customer. I prefer to do finance and the other stuff....I dont like selling cars.

Our more open minded customers (we have alot of repeat business) are always subjected to the latest and grossest porn emails.

lumberjim 11-25-2006 08:33 PM

you make it sound like a small operation. what type of shingle hangs out front? ( i wonder if car jargon translates?) ....that is....what make of new car franchise is it? how long have you been in the car business?

whyinthehell haven't you told us that you're a scumbag like me?

DucksNuts 11-26-2006 12:22 AM

Its not huge, but its successful.

"Shingle"?? dont use it over here, but we are Ssangyong and Suzuki with around 80 used cars.

Odd ball stuff which suits our area.

Thats why we are the #4 seller of Ssangyong Australia wide and #8 in Suzuki (which we only started selling this year).

I didnt mention it previously, because my co-workers can be the epitome of sleazy car dudes (but they are stand up guys) and I knew alot of my little stories would have people going "uhuh, see, sleazy car salesmen".

I was interested when reading yours and lookouts exchange regarding fluff.

*edit - I have been in the retail industry for 5 years, before that I used to work for a V8 Supercar team (NASCAR equivalent) and I was also a *pit bitch* for a few years :)...sooo I have been in the automotive industry for about 10 years I guess.

Oh good, a straight shooting source...or so I hope.

What's the skinny on the SX4? Selene's boss, if he ever gets off his duff, is supposed to buy her one as a company car soon. We test drove one, and really liked it a lot. The Grand Vitaras had very nice pricing, considerably lower than the new SX4, and with bigger engines, more room and more bells and whistles...but much lower fuel economy for a comparable 4x4.

So...what's the insider's view on the SX4? Be honest...after all, we won't be buying it from you anyway.

DucksNuts 11-28-2006 04:12 PM

Meh - I'm not a whole lot of help there, but I can find out.

The SX4 wont be released here until 2007 :( but we had a dealer conference earlier this year and there has been nothing but rave reviews on the SX4.

Suzukis on the whole are fantastic (have always thought that even before we started selling them).

I jumped on the dealer portal and there have been no negatives with the SX4 but if you have any specifics 'spode I am happy to research them for you.

I will give you honest answers.

Early reliability stats would be cool.
