I'm going to jump in with the opinion of a homeschooled person (that would be me) who is also planning on homeschooling her kids...

Of the choices on the Samples page, I think 5 is the most appealing. Its a departure from the typical "school" colors, so it grabs the eye.

Of those two, I would definitely aim for the top one.

i like the colours for the first three, it fits the presence of the word school

You're right, the top one is too dull -there's not enough differentiation between the colors. Have you gone back to the comedy font, then?

Radar 03-07-2007 09:21 AM

I've gone back to the kiddy font only for the word Homeschool

Shawnee123 03-07-2007 09:39 AM

I like it. I like the colors in number two. Looks great, radar.

#1 or #6 for me. (#6 only because I really love purple.)

Given your likely audience, though, the RWB association works really well, so #1.

I like 1 - red and blue are powerful colors that stay in the mind. Don't forget to register your logo with the US Patent and TRademark Office.

I take back what I said about the kiddy font, now I like it. Go figure.
I am a woman, I have the right to change my mind. A lot. I do like colors with more contrast ala #2.

But red and blue are not memorable, especially with a election year coming up people will be sick of red and blue. Maybe even repulsed by it.:2cents:

Just noticed this on my bathroom fan today.

I think the blue and green one would look terrific, if the green was replaced by the lovely orange-red in #6 (though I like the purple, too, just switched). Blue and green logos always say 'corporate' to me.

Radar 03-07-2007 10:13 PM

Corporate is the look I'm going for. The business is me and maybe my wife later. I want it to look established, corporate, trustworthy, and a place people will be happy to spend their money.

Just don't pick the same colors as FedEx. You're getting close to that. Especially if you give a try with the Blue/Orangey-Red combo.

The darker red, especially if it's used for the Roof-like graphic carries the connotation of the Little Red Schoolhouse, which is about as traditional as traditional gets.

Now, if that pen that looks like if fell off the chain on a bank counter were replaced with a pencil ...

I had some with the pencil in it, but they don't look as good as the pen.

That pencil doesn't look particularly pencily, if you know what I mean. Finer line weight, and the end with the eraser should show the division from the silver metal thingy that holds it in (it's actually called a ferrule, but I'm probably one of the few people that knows that without looking it up). The angle near the point is wrong too. People can very quickly grasp the impression of a pencil, if it's expressed properly graphically. A shorter but fatter pencil could express these qualities better.

Okay, as previously admitted, I can't draw, but I tried anyway.
