The long haul trucker. I'm amazed nobody has mentioned him yet.

xoxoxoBruce 05-11-2007 04:15 AM

Roughneck.... oil field worker. (buster)

Hyoi 05-11-2007 05:00 AM

Derrickman.........he's the one at the top of the rig slinging pipe into the elevators. Got no place to go should the damn thing blow.

Stevedore.........in the hold of a ship unloading and stacking 75 lb. sacks of flour. Tee shirt turns to solid sweat-and-flour glue.

Package store clerk........gets the occasional wrong end view of a .357.

I was thinking that but was too shy to say so.

xoxoxoBruce 05-11-2007 09:01 PM

Who invented oil fields, wells and drilling for oil? Who took the technology around the world and trained the locals? John Wayne, that's who.

I'm gonna vote for the long haul trucker. How 'bout some Jerry Reed.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long why to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the peddle...son, never mind them brakes
let it all hang out cause we've got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarcana
and we'll bring it back no matter what it takes

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run ......

( banjo & guitar solo )

Old Smokey's got them ears on, he's hot on your trail
and he ain't gonna rest 'till you're in jail
So you gotta dodge him.... you gotta duck him
You've gotta keep that diesel truckin....
just put that hammer down and give it hell

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run

Oops. Didn't mean to steal your idea.

xoxoxoBruce 05-12-2007 02:10 PM

They're completely different jobs. Red Adair didn't show up until my guys screwed the pooch or the natives got restless.
