BTW, friend's kid that I mentioned here will be on Leno's show either this Wed or the next with Amos Lee. :)

shameless plug

The first local review of the new CD is out, and I'm all proud and happy for us.

it's in this month's Westword, which is a locally famous entertainment/alternative paper.

Seriously, that review is well deserved. Outstanding effort.

mrnoodle 04-18-2005 09:41 AM

thanks guys :)

Just received my copy via the nice people at amazon.com :)

It currently occupies position #1 in my car cd changer.

I am up to track 4 on my first listen.

Wow.

It's absolutely lovely hearing music like that unspoiled by the addition of an unnecessary, shrieking, hoarse tenor.

Rough Edge, a metal/hard rock website that I had never heard of until recently, but is quite plugged into the scene, will be playing one of our songs on its radio-webcast thingy this Tuesday and Thursday. They also wrote us a nice review which was awfully good of them (they're big supporters of unsigned acts, for which all of us thank them profusely).

Whether GH be your hard rock flavor of choice or not, roughedge.com is a sweet site -- everything from black metal to punk to classic AC/DC and such. Tons of reviews, and I'm looking forward to listening in to more than one of their radio shows. Besides our song (whose name they messed up, oh well), the playlist for tomorrow includes Bruce Dickenson, Anthrax, Motorhead, Judas Priest, and several other old skool headbangers, as well as some other unheard-of bands. I, of course, will be fantasizing that I'm actually listening to KNAC instead of web radio.

xoxoxoBruce 06-21-2005 01:53 PM

Let's see...hmmm, tonight is JUDAS PRIEST, AC/DC, ANTHRAX, DEEP PURPLE, BLUE OYSTER CULT, etc. At least they will be in good company. ;)

Wow, long time since we did anything, apparently. It's been hard because we can't seem to schedule gigs that work with our hired-gun bassist. Oh well, we have someone coming to check us out Thursday, so maybe this time we'll find the right combination of talent and attitude.

Anyhoo, I'm all psyched today -- we get to open a show for a guitar hero of ours, George Lynch, on Dec. 13. This would have been orgasm-inducing in high school and college, but now it's kind of scary. A whole crowd full of guitar nerds staring at you, waiting to be impressed -- I don't know why I should be bothered by that, really, but I am... Mike does most of the solo work, so I'll wait for my ~4 solos with great trepidation.

We're writing vocal stuff too, and are trying (begging) a friend from another band, Kronow, to come close our set with us. We would have a Testament cover and 1...maybe 2.... originals ready to go, and it would be a great way to debut them. He's recording with us on those so we can send out a demo to shop for singers.

Problem is, with the bassist scheduling conflicts, we've had to turn down about a show a month for the last 6 months (including one in November), so the "big deal" gig will be the first time we've played live in eons. That adds to the stress level. We're probably going to bust in on some open mic nights between now and then to just get the feeling back.

Anyway. George Lynch \m/ w00t.

xoxoxoBruce 11-15-2005 05:12 AM

I missed this post, Noodle.
Opening act? That can be a plus. If the crowd is mostly George Lynch devotees they may not be closely scrutinizing the opening act.
Oh, they'll hear you, and after a tune or two you'll have their full attention, but they probably won't expect that much and will gloss right over a mis-pluck or two.
So do your thing, have fun, meet George Lynch and try not to trip over the ladies underwear piling up on stage. :D

Okay guys. Make sure you're all at the next gig -- the death metal BBQ at the Larimer Lounge. Clip and save your ticket, it will save you literally hundreds of cents at the door.

Break a leg, mrnoodle!

(I don't know how to offer good wishes more fervently without jinxing it, so I'll just hang up.)

If you guys want, you can go to KBPI.com and vote for us for the "Best Band in Denver" contest. I promise to personally wash each of your cars. The song we put up was "Juarez," and I think it sounds pretty different and polished compared to some of the entries. I kinda like our chances for getting into the top 18 at least (that's the level we need to achieve to move on to the next round -- live performances). If we win, I think they put us in the rotation for airplay and maybe give us some stuff.

That would be cool

edit: You can hear the songs now, but I don't think you can vote until September 1, though.

Undertoad 08-29-2006 10:42 AM

Very cool, very original, very metal!

People will get whiplash at 0:30 and again at 3:33. I don't remember the last time I heard a band going all-out like that. Extreme!

wolf 08-29-2006 10:45 AM

Please make sure that you bump this on 9/1/06 for the voting, yah?

I still love the CD and will have no problem voting for you.
