I don't sleep as much anymore, this site has caused me to undergo some serious insomnia.

I just got done watching the 2004 version of Frankenstein on T.V. They use the excerpt from Paradise Lost twice. First when Victor's monster reads his journal and again when Victor dies. I'm sure that doesn't help with the puzzle but I thought it was interesting.

zer0 10-07-2004 02:02 AM

Dammit, I just got into this today, and can't find much. Can someone explain to me why the username and password for the face0f clue works? I'm kind of interested in finding out what the hell is going on, and that would help. Whoever found that out, could you explain please :D

Sedicius 10-07-2004 05:22 AM

All of the answers for the usernames and passwords up till the Frakenstien now, where does he stand in the darkness of Paradise, and the Audition, Traveling Salesman room have been opened up just check previous posts on this thread. =)

Mr. Ears 10-07-2004 07:44 AM

so silver phoenix, you think that kristian boruff person it the one who made the site??? and i have a hunch... ok... a lot of the pictures are connected to different usernames and passwords... like the dorothy and scarecrow one??? it is connected to that tree face... (off the wizard of oz) and the username and password were for a different link... so yea.... just thought i should put that...

Schwabby 10-07-2004 02:36 PM

hmm...

Phone number doesent work anymore.

And does anyone know the u/p for the prompt of
Audition, Traveling Salesman

it comes aftrer you click the first light in The A moth flew in room

MuadDib 10-07-2004 02:38 PM

Just wanted to point this out about the navajo coded messages.

(excerpts from Dance Dance Dance)

"read these letters over a few times, then filed them away. And so the months passed.

Money wasn't a problem. I had saved plenty enough to live on, and I wasn't thinking about what came later. Winter was past.

And spring took hold. The scent of the wind changed. Even the darkness of night was different.

At the end of May, Kipper, my cat, died. Suddenly, without warning. I woke up one day and found him curled up on the kitchen floor, dead. He himself probably hadn't known it"

"The area had changed markedly from the old days. Of course, those «old days» were only four years back, as I've said, so most of the places I'd frequented were more or less the same. The local atmosphere was basically the same as well, but signs of change were everywhere. Stores were boarded up, announcements of development to come tacked over. A large building was under construction....."

Schwabby 10-07-2004 02:53 PM

Like one who, on a lonely road, Doth walk in fear and dread, And, having once turn'd round, walks on, And turns no more his head; Because he knows a frightful fiend Doth close behind him tread. -Samuel Taylor "Estese" Coleridge

this ^ was probably posted before, but im just making sure.

Sedicius 10-07-2004 03:04 PM

interesting indeed, MuadDib, I have a hefty list of words that the anagram has in it, (my freind did all of this, the credit goes to him) the words are as followed, sorry for doubles:

sinew denver be brine seven video hog god shed grow bovine bone sew grow worse vorse shod shed nod shown shin down sow bow green den red rend rending being growing shedding sweing bowing rind whenever wherever where when ive wine sign signing win winning endow bide bride endevor whine whining dow dorow bond were die lore done donor honor honoring shone shine bonding good wood drive dive diver diving ore or bore given giver are wives bond gone born nob shove grove dove drove severe head reed seed deed need greed beer sheer sheering needing seeding heeding shiv shiver rove divide horn shore whore seen oven here bend bending rise now wig whig weed weeding wink divine divide division seven go gone dine dinner diviner hide nor noise no dib greenish redish sin sever

and thats all hes got, we both have a copy of the work he has done, and now all of you do to, so maybe we can figure this thing out quicker, im working on it as we speak! it most likely has to do with something morbid, so think along those lines :D and Schwabby we really dont need to work on getting into the Traveling Salesman door yet, we've nearly craked this Frankenstien one, lets solve it!

MuadDib 10-07-2004 03:13 PM

remember the AUDITION/ travelling salesman page?

http://www.midnighteye.com/reviews/audition.shtml

"audition", by MURAKAMI...sound familiar? tahts right. Dance Dance Dance was written by Murakami as well

infect 10-07-2004 04:46 PM

Heres more anagram work - the most probable - that came out of some anagram generators. The leftover letters are beside the word itself. (I've got millions... but I'll stick to the best words - anything genesis or bones or engineering - whatever may catch the 'Frankenstein' groove; sorry if anything overlaps with what Spyke wrote):

dissevering bdeehiiinow
idiogenesis bdeehiinrvw
biogenesis ddeehiiinrvw
engineered bdhiiiiossvw
envisioned bdeeghiiirsw
greediness bdehiiiinovw
inbreeding deehiiiossvw
neogenesis bddehiiiirvw
ovigenesis bddeehiiinrw
redesigned behiiiinosvw
digenesis bdeehiiinorvw
eerieness bddghiiiinovw
engineers bddehiiiiosvw
enshrined bdeegiiiiosvw
redesigns bdeehiiiinovw
rewinding bdeeehiiiossv
shinbones ddeeegiiiirvw

Using the 'hidden words' option on this page " http://www.mi.uib.no/~ingeke/anagram/index_eng.html " has given the best results - theres even an option to anagram the leftovers from some of the words. I suggest using this. ^_^

Sedicius 10-07-2004 06:05 PM

Nope, looks like youve been working a little harder than my friend lol, your a step ahead, I havent even started peiceing it together yet, going to start in a bit, hmm, its obvoiusly not a very long statement, and what exactly could it hold? I also sent the porn@thisisnotporn.com guy a lengthy email, even though I know I wont, im hoping to get some info from that, if any one cares Ill post what I wrote in the email, I took my time on it actually, so I think I made myself sound somewhat intellegent :D well my dog wants in, and this anagram wants deciphered, so im off, ill post any new info as soon as I get it!

Wrong Murakami. Dance is by Haruki, Audition by Ryu. However, you -may- be on a correct tangent, as the film version's director Takashi Miike is one of Boruff's most admired.

I know it's Kris that made it. :D (it certainly wasn't me) And so where are you going with this hunch? what do you think the road may have to do with Frankenstein? /genuinely curious...

Sedicius 10-07-2004 08:21 PM

To SilverPhoenix: I dont doubt the fact that you are an innocent bystander, attemping to solve the ridde as every one else, but I have heard some rumors that Kristian Boruff is a young man, maybe about 16-20 years old? Have any info on that?

MuadDib 10-07-2004 08:25 PM

Also as a possible connection, Haruki Murakami wrote a book (after the quake) that featured a salesman as the main character...

MuadDib 10-07-2004 08:28 PM

Oh, and i dunno whether or not you guys found the connection between Dance Dance Dance and the "one armed skeleton" thing, but there definitely is one. (Dick North)

I've heard he's a 74 year old retired Army Colonel.

SilverPhoenix 10-07-2004 08:46 PM

Sedicius: From pics I've seen of him, I'd say he's in his early-to-mid twenties. No older than 32-ish. Why do you ask?

MuadDib: nice finds, particularly the book (Quake). Possibly Dick North is the person referenced by the phrase on the lights page "the poet is dead", but right now there's no way to tell for sure.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. and if you remember the highway page, a popup that says "a life half lived" appears when you put your cursor over the truck in the other lane. In DDD, Dick North was killed on a highway by a truck or van. For those of you that didnt know, Dick North is a one-armed poet in "Dance Dance Dance"

SilverPhoenix 10-07-2004 09:08 PM

not to mention the new side-page whose title is "a life half lived"

Redneck 10-07-2004 10:22 PM

So what are you sayin' that a "life half lived" could refer to the one armed poet since some ppl would call him half a man?

SilverPhoenix 10-07-2004 11:14 PM

naw. I was referring to a couple of things. First, that Dick North was killed in an accident and didn't die in his sleep ('a life half-lived' is often used to say that someone's life was cut short). Second, a number of references to DN show up in the source of HypericumPerforatum.htm (the mother of all ascii pics), which is linked from the original highway page.

Sedicius 10-08-2004 07:04 PM

If the creator of thisisnotporn is Kristian Boruff, young or old, It doesnt matter, then who is this Dende Phish refrenced in the source code of the pop-up page that reads "HELP I AM DROWNING"? It claims that he created the site, and what is the countdown date mean? It has to be important...Jun 6 2005 11:38:00, odd.

Redneck 10-08-2004 07:09 PM

No, Dende Phish is just the guy that wrote that script, the creator of this site just used the script from "The Javascript Source". It doesn't mean he's the creator of the site.
As for the countdown date, I don't think any of us will know untill then.

Sedicius 10-09-2004 05:33 PM

Hmmm, something else to think about would be how many people are a part of this "Devil in the Sun" production group, is it just Dende Phish and Kristian Boruff, or is it a whole team of people? And about the dates on the pictures, Some are from 2001 (at the earliest that I remeber, im at my dads this weekend, and I havent been working on the puzzle latly, but as soon as sunday night comes ill be right back at it!) maybe some were earlier, that means that they had to have planned to create this for years, it has to have been excellently planned out. Kind of scary if you think about it...why would they plan for so long for just a puzzle?

MuadDib 10-09-2004 05:58 PM

"...The Sheep Man escorted me out to the bend in the hallway, dragging his feet along, shuffle . . . shuffle . . . shuffle...."

MuadDib 10-09-2004 10:18 PM

UPDATE
the "Audition, traveling salesman" prompt thing now reads, "Audition, Death of a travelling salesman"

TheSheikah 10-09-2004 10:36 PM

Does anyone think the connection between this and "death of a salesman" warrants any discussion?

I don't really think so, but, Audition, (Bout a salseman, never read it, so I don't know) and Death of a travelling salesman (Death of a Salesman, based around a travelling salesman who commits suicide)

Sedicius 10-10-2004 12:28 AM

I will read Audition, along with all of the other books mentioned, hey even if we seem to be done with them, if they were quoted and used on a puzzle they had to be pretty good, eh?

TheSheikah 10-10-2004 03:23 AM

Dance Dance Dance, I was (and still am) merely reading to have a better grasp of the riddles, and I really like it. Must read Audition then...

Aizen 10-11-2004 10:09 PM

Hey people, I'm new-ish around here.
Anyway, I don't know if this was mentioned yet, but on that Rober Silvers page with the pictures of the freaky robot head, one of the popups has the title 'a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy'. That line is from Shakespeare's play Hamlet and it refers to Yorick, the court jester. Hamlet finds Yorick's skull while digging around in a graveyard and the he does the 'to be or not to be' thing.
Hamlet also says "When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause......For who would bear the whips and scorns of time.....but that the dread of something after death"
Maybe that has something to do with how robots don't die? Or maybe about Frankenstein?

Im shot, I cant think any more, its mentally impossible, Im still awaiting the books I ordered from the library, Dance Dance Dance, Paradise Lost book X, I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream, and there was one or two more, but I cant even remeber the names of them, maybe this puzzle IS impossible, and it was made to drive people to insanity. *sigh* oh well! We cant give up yet, the password for the Frankenstien promp has to be right under our noses!

Mr. Ears 10-12-2004 12:53 PM

Ok. I have found some interesting stuff. I am not sure if it has already been posted or not. But here it goes.

Ok. On the we are connected page, it says this in the source(some of this stuff may or may not help with the passwords and usernames for the 2 new things...)
('We');('Nesh-cheeDzehA-Ken-Di-GliniGahNe-as-jahThan-ZieDibehDzehKlizzie DibehTKin TKinDzehNa-as-tso-si')('What was all that about?');('Live');('As');('We');('Dream...'); It has the We Lives As We Dream... part in a line going down so you can easily read it. ('Did I kill Kiki?');('ever_yo_ne_i_sdead.htm','' (should check that site out... see if it works)('There was nothing I could do. He had disappeared.'); There ya go. Dont know anything about that navajo code. Or at least that is what i assume it is since Kris has used it before.
And this is the last bit that i have.
This is on the fortune cookie one.
<!--The boss has a tumor in his brain.-->('No Closet.');('wrapped in his sheep costume.')('any indication.');('boarded up from inside.');('No Bath.');('directly into the saucer.');('must\'ve slept on the floor');('worm-eatten');('Whatever became of him?');('very, old, round, set with one candle in the middle.')('walls and ceiling');('No lights.');('It was the Sheepman\'s Room.')('There was barely enough room to walk.');('It wasn\'t the old hotel either.');('piles of books.');('Narrow and Cramped.');('No bed.');
Ok... hmmm.... doesnt make any sense to me... Maybe it will to one of you guys. Well... thats it for now.

Oh yeah. Who figured out how to get to those new sites? Cuz I wanna know how you found them.

These are all Dance Dance Dance refrences:
What was all that about - Kiki's line in the movie
Did I kill Kiki? - Gotanda's line in the pizza shop
There was nothing I could do. He dissapeared. - Gotanda Suicide

This is all the description of the Sheep man's room, also from Dance Dance Dance. TINP seems to like to throw stuff around, so although its an interesting find, I dont think it has much significance... :greenface

I suggest reading Dance Dance Dance, its a really good book, and it will help with the website ;)

Redneck 10-12-2004 04:16 PM

I did the navajo code for that one back on page 10.
It is "mei is gestorven" or May has died

And I got the new site links by using a program called "gifshuffle" http://www.darkside.com.au/gifshuffle/
I used this on the pictures on the "Devil with 5 fingers page"

I've jsut discovered another Murakami reference.
some of the ASCII in the dutch truck page translated to "what comes after we tire of chasing wild sheep" (or something)
an amazon searh of Murakami brought up this http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...610496-4454233
possibly meaningless, but another thing to look at

Hajik 10-14-2004 12:46 PM

hey, im new, but complete awesomeness, im not sure of the exact specifics but ill post them tomorrow or at the very least sunday, a friend found something about a shovel and snow, something like "Shovel the best snow", something like that, also me and my friends are splitting up Dance, Dance, Dance, Frankenstien and a few other books, also im checking out the short story Death of a Salesman, so we're trying very hard to crack this, be back soon :D

BrianR 10-14-2004 02:01 PM

WOW! Not a single period. Anywhere! Must be a teenager with a cell phone and texting.

Aizen 10-15-2004 06:05 AM

Just finished reading Dance Dance Dance. Hmm.

-Usually when the protag thinks about Mei, he says 'cuck-koo' and something about her 'shoveling sensual snow'.

-The protagonist saw six skeletons in Honolulu. They belonged to The Rat, Kiki, Mei, Gotanda, Dick North (one-armed skeleton), and the sixth one maybe belonged to the Sheep Man.

-The Maserati seems important to Gotanda's character. It's connected with death and despair...

That's all I can think of :/

Hajik 10-15-2004 07:19 AM

Damn. I'm sorry grammer was so importent to you. If it bothers you that much then I'll make sure to use the proper grammer next time.

That second light of the 'a moth flew in...' page now says "Frankenstein now, Yuki's bird." The only time in Dance Dance Dance that Yuki and birds come together is when the protagonist is trying to explain sex drive to her. Haha.

Mr. Ears 10-18-2004 12:49 PM

Hey, did you guys know that the last light on the page led to a different site? The username and password were Mark and Twain. But it is not there anymore. Has anyone been there?

EDIT: "The film ends in London, where Frankenstein now
works under the pseudonym Dr. Franck." That is from the Revenge of Frankenstein. That might be of use. Dr. Franck could be the username or it could be Prometheus. Who knows?

EDIT: Hey, I got a question. I was just browsing through the rest of this thread. It never says how anyone got the Yuki and Gotanda thing for the username and password. Anyone wanna fill me in on that?

Veros 10-18-2004 06:50 PM

Hey, I'm new to the forum. As this is my first post you can guess why I joined. Anyways, back to my point. Has anyone tried to find out the meaning of the third block of words from timeflows.htm? While it is true everyone is working on Frankenstein Now, I just thought I'd get this in here as I've read no mention of it thus far. With some googling I was able to find the translation, it being one of the only surviving parts of an old Dutch text, also being very old Dutch dialect.
What was:
hebban olla vogala nestas hagunnan
hinase hi(c) (e)nda thu
uu(at) unbida(n) (uu)e nu

translated into english is:

"All the birds have started their nests
except me and you.
What are we waiting for now?"

Considering that recent "Yuki's Bird" change maybe it has more revelance?

FYI, that the final skeleton is revealed in Wild Sheep Chase, another book my murakami

SilverPhoenix 10-19-2004 09:13 AM

I think that's the one he's referring to with 'The Rat', who dies in WSC. The narrator himself is confused right 'til the end of the novel about who the sixth one could have been.

Personally, I think it's the narrator himself, except that he avoids fate by "reconnecting himself". When he first goes into the 'attic space,' he sees six skeletons. However, he only describes five of them [Spoilers here!]

(one in bed [Dick North], one at the table [Kiki], two on the couch [Gotanda & Mei], and one watching TV [The Rat]). Like the narrator himself, the sixth skeleton goes nameless, faceless (no pun intended), and descriptionless. It's not even mentioned where #6 is in the room. Just passing through, perhaps?

Mr. Ears 10-19-2004 01:09 PM

Does anyone know all the numbers that are on the pages? They are at the bottom right.

Redneck 10-19-2004 01:38 PM
