This guy from Massachusetts used a shovel handle on his AK.
Why waste it after he used the shovel's blade to make the receiver. Yeah, it shoots... pretty well too. Lots of pictures and description here. |

As a kid, I built a model of the USS Enterprise (CV-6),
and learned a fair bit of world history and geography. ... a very special ship in WW II ABC News BROCK VERGAKIS Associated Press December 2, 2012 USS Enterprise Carrier Taken out of Active Service Quote:

It is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2013. That's really cool!
You gotta make sure your hands are clean, and work on keeping the woodwork clean as you open it. The oils on you finger will stain the wood finish after just a year or so of repeatedly opening the thing, and it will be obvious that it's some sort of trick cabinet. We never put knobs on the upper cabinets in our kitchen. And even though we wipe them down fairly regularly, you can easily see where we hold onto the door edges to open them up. Maybe leave a pair of cotton gloves on a shelf there so you can put gloves on before you open it up. You could get a fossilized shark's tooth, or other dummy artifact that you can claim the gloves are used to handle. |
