And among my favs:
A video. The original MTV version sucked ass, but this is a nice one that makes the point.: A link to the original video. It was an anti-war song or at least a song about the horrors of war that so many of our young men and women are coming home experiencing. Sit back a moment and take it in. Imagine yourself.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zePch4zHLMs The music And of course another great rendition: Apacolyptica! |

I daresay if I went back through this thread I may find some Divine Comedy. Posted a long time ago :P But anyway:
I'm revisiting The Divine Comedy. It's essentially one man plus whichever music collaborators he is working with at any one time, with a couple of recurring faces. he writes the lyrics and pretty much all the music. I love this man's voice. I also think he is one of Britain's best songwriters. I know, I shouldn't do this. But forgive an obsessive her obsessions. I feel somewhat compelled to give you something of the flavour of this singer. So...I have posted several different songs ... starting with something quite jaunty. Then going for a different tone. Becoming More Like Alfie (I really like Neil's guitar playing at the end of this one as well) Songs of Love When the Lights Go Out All Over Europe (the opening strains of the violins put a shiver down my spine on this. Another change of pace and a whole other set of references) And finally....(unless another wave of obsession hits, in which case you have my permission to slap me...) The Certainty of Chance: |
Incidentally. Just occurred to me. Most people would probably know The Divine Comedy (even if they havent clocked the name) mainly through the theme tune to Father Ted.

You allow YouTube videos now?
Gee, where have I been? :mg: |

I love that last one!
John Simm as The Master...awesome. As a companion piece I offer this little entry: I Can't Decide (Whether you Should live or die). Scissor Sister's track, used beautifully in Sound of Drums: |
Ok, I love Metallica but this is just freaky.
