I agree. I just found this thread this AM. Now I will try to get some pics.

FWIW - Fall is the best time as the weather changes. Spring has its varietals also, but this last two years have been really odd and the summers have been productive as well.

I just saw about a hundred of these in some guys yard. I'm not sure what they are either, I didn't have my book nor enough time to take a really good look.
I got it - it's an Amanita, but I'm not sure which. I didn't think so at first as they are typically very colorful or completely white. However there is a common variety that looks just like this. Not that common to me - its only June! |
Ya thievin' bastard!
Those look like sesame seed mushrooms. |

Thanks all, I'm gonna go with this one. Had I searched "Fungus" like and intelligent man, that would have solved the issue long ago. Now if I could only remember why I was looking for this thread in the first place...

So - since I have a little free time on my hands being unemployed at this most beautiful time of year, I've been out hunting and foraging a bit. I've been finding a good number of shrooms out there, but many were too small and/or immature to harvest.
The well known Chicken Mushroom. Same shroom - one week apart. Note the size of the Swiss Army knife - also the same knife. Dealing with too many issues trying to resize images today. Was gonna show how much it grew, but ... sorry. |
Does it taste like chicken?
|
yep, thats where the name comes from.
