Speak of the destruction. Speak of the destruction. Speak of the destruction. This is a world destruction, your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. Countries are fighting with chemical warfare. Not giving a damn about the people who live there. Nostradamus predicts the coming of the Antichrist. Hey, look out, the third world nations are on the rise. The Democratic-Communist Relationship, won't stand in the way of the Islamic force. The CIA is looking for you. The KGB is smarter than you think. Brainwash mentalities to control the system. Using TV and movies - religions of course. Yes, the world is headed for destruction. Is it a nuclear war? What are you asking for? This is a world destruction. Your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. The rich get richer. The poor are getting poorer. Fascist, chauvinistic government fools. People, Moslems, Christians and Hindus. Are in a time zone still searching for the truth. Who are you to think you're a superior race? Facing forth your everlasting doom. We are Time Zone. We've come to drop a bomb on you. World destruction, kaboom, kaboom, kaboom! This is the world destruction, your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. Nationalities are fighting with each other. Why is this? Because the system tells you. Putting people in faceless categories. Knowledge isn't what it used to be. Military tactics to control a nation. Who wants to be a president or king? Me! Mother Nature is gonna work against you. Nothing in your power that you can do. Yes, the world is headed for destruction. You and I know it, cause the Bible tells you. If we don't start to look for a better life, the whole world will be destroyed in a time zone! Speak of the destruction. Speak of the destruction. Speak of the destruction. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuL2kvEaWrw if you want to listen |
Leonard Cohen - The Future
Give me back my broken night my mirrored room, my secret life it's lonely here, there's no one left to torture Give me absolute control over every living soul And lie beside me, baby, that's an order! Give me crack and anal sex Take the only tree that's left stuff it up the hole in your culture Give me back the Berlin wall give me Stalin and St Paul I've seen the future, brother: it is murder. Things are going to slide, slide in all directions Won't be nothing Nothing you can measure anymore The blizzard, the blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold and it has overturned the order of the soul When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant When they said REPENT REPENT I wonder what they meant. You don't know me from the wind you never will, you never did I was the little Jew who wrote the Bible I've seen the nations rise and fall I've heard their stories, heard them all but love's the only engine of survival Your servant here, he has been told to say it clear, to say it cold: It's over, it ain't going any further And now the wheels of heaven stop you feel the devil's RIDING crop Get ready for the future: it is murder. Things are going to slide ... There'll be the breaking of the ancient western code Your private life will suddenly explode There'll be phantoms There'll be fires on the road and a white man dancing You'll see a woman hanging upside down her features covered by her fallen gown and all the lousy little poets coming round tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson and the white man dancin'. Give me back the Berlin wall Give me Stalin and St Paul Give me Christ or give me Hiroshima Destroy another fetus now We don't like children anyhow I've seen the future, baby: it is murder. Things are going to slide ... When they said REPENT REPENT ... |
Let's do some living, after we die.

(The Revealing Science of God, December 14, 1973)
Dawn of light lying between a silence and sold sources, Chased amid fusions of wonder, in moments hardly seen forgotten, Coloured in pastures of chance dancing leaves cast spells of challenge, Amused but real in thought, we fled from the sea whole. Dawn of thought transferred through moments of days undersearching earth Revealing corridors of time provoking memories, disjointed but with purpose, Craving penetrations offer links with the self instructors sharp And tender love as we took to the air, a picture of distance. Dawn of our power we amuse redescending as fast as misused Expression, as only to teach love as to reveal passion chasing Late into corners, and we danced from the ocean. Dawn of love sent within us colours of awakening among the many Won't to follow, only tunes of a different age. As the links span our endless caresses for the freedom of life everlasting. Talk to the sunlight caller Soft summer mover distance mine. Called out a tune but I never saw the face Heard but not replaced I ventured to talk, but I never lost my place Cast out a spell rendered for the light of day Lost in lights array I ventured to see, as the sound began to play What happened to this song we once knew so well Signed promise for moments caught within the spell I must have waited all my life for this Moment moment The future poised with the splendour just begun The light we were as one And crowded through the curtains of liquid into sun And for a moment when our world had filled the skies Magic turned our eyes To feast on the treasure set for our strange device What happened to wonders we once knew so well Did we forget what happened surely we can tell We must have waited all our lives for this Moment moment moment Starlight, movement, reasons Release forward Tallest rainbow Sun shower seasons Life flower reasons They move fast, they tell me, But I just can't believe that I can feel it There's someone to tell you, Amid the challenge we look around in unison with you Getting over overhanging trees Let them rape the forest Thoughts would send our fusion Clearly to be home Getting over wars we do not mean Or so it seems so clearly Sheltered with our passion Clearly to be home They move fast, they tell me, But I just can't believe they really mean to There's someone, to tell you, And I just can't believe our song will leave you Skyline teacher Warland seeker Send out poison Cast iron leader And through the rhythm of moving slowly Sent through the rhythm work out the story Move over glory to sons of old fighters past. Young Christians see if from the beginning Old people feel it, that's what they're saying. Move over glory to sons of old fighters past. They move fast, they tell me, But I just can't believe they really mean to. There's someone, to tell you A course towards a universal season. Getting over overhanging trees Let them rape the forest They might stand and leave them Clearly to be home Getting over wars we do not mean We charm the movement suffers Call out all our memories Clearly to be home We've moved fast We need love A part we offer is our only freedom What happened to this song we once knew so well Signed promise for moments caught within the spell We must have waited all our lives for this Moment moment Past present movers moments we'll process the future, but only through him we know send flowered rainbows Apiece apart chased flowers of the dark and lights of songs to follow and show all we feel for and know of Cast round You seekers of the truth accepting that reason will relive and breath and hope and chase and love For you and you and you. |

These times are so uncertain
Theres a yearning undefined And people filled with rage We all need a little tenderness How can love survive in such a graceless age? The trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness Theyre the very things - we kill I guess Pride and competition Cannot fill these empty arms And the work I put between us You know it doesnt keep me warm Don Henley, The Heart of the Matter |
If I could save Time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do Is to save every day 'til Eternity passes away Just to spend them with you If I could make days last forever If words could make wishes come true I'd save every day like a treasure and then, Again, I would spend them with you But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do Once you find them I've looked around enough to know That you're the one I want to go Through time with If I had a box just for wishes And dreams that had never come true The box would be empty Except for the memory Of how they were answered by you But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do Once you find them I've looked around enough to know That you're the one I want to go Through time with (according to wikipedia Croce wrote this for his son) |
Thanks f3 - you have no idea how appropriate that was.

Bloc Party - Uniform There was a sense of disappointment as we left the mall All the young people looked the same Wearing their masks of cool and indifference Commerce dressed up as rebellion 'cause we are so handsome and we are so bored So entertain us, tell me a joke Make it long, make it last Make it cruel just make me laugh We can't be hurt Drink to forget your blues on the weekend Think about more things to buy The TV taught me how to sulk and love nothing And how to grow my hair long 'cause we are so handsome and we are so bored So entertain us, tell me a joke Make it long, make it last Make it cruel just make me laugh We can't be hurt We can't be hurt We can't be hurt So why do you go picking fights that you'll lose? (When you have entertainment, when you have things to pass the time) So why do you have to go thinking thoughts that are above you? (You can be happy, just play dumb) (You can be happy, just play dumb) Well I was brave And unique, Intelligent, A snowflake I could have been a hero No-one can be trusted over the age of 14 Tattoo our arms Converse shoes Cynical But we still do it We tell ourselves that we're different I've gotten so good at lying to myself All, all my pain and honour is used up All, all, all All my guns are rusted So when you gonna to realise those are not your wrongs to right Have another dumb line, have another drink I am a martyr I just need a motive I am a martyr I just need a cause I'm a believer I just need a moment I'm a believer I just need a cause We're finding it hard to break the mould We're finding it hard to be alone We're finding it hard to have time by ourselves We have nothing at all to say Uniform Uniform Uniform There was a sense of disappointment as we left the mall All the young people looked the same |
I'm not the sort of person who falls
In and quickly out of love But to you I gave my affection Right from the start I have a lover Who loves me How could I break such a heart Yet still you get my attention Why do you come here When you know I've got troubles enough Why do you call me When you know I can't answer the phone Make me lie When I don't want to And make someone else Some kind of an unknowing fool You make me stay When I should not Are you so strong Or is all the weakness in me Why do you come here And pretend to be just passing by But I mean to see you And I mean to hold you tightly Feeling guilty worried Waking from tormented sleep This old love has me bound But the new love cuts deep If I choose now I'll lose out One of you has to fall And I need you and you Why do you come here When you know I've got troubles enough Why do you call me When you know I can't answer the phone Make me lie When I don't want to And make someone else Some kind of an unknowing fool You make me stay When I should not Are you so strong Or is all the weakness in me Why do you come here And pretend to be just passing by But I mean to see you And I mean to hold you tightly |
Built To Spill Lyrics
Else Lyrics Finally I don't mind Worthless tries at finding something else Best not talk too loud You're not as smart as you require of them Your body breaks Your needs consume you forever And with this lies the need to be here together Funny thing with blood You try to stand but neither leg's awake Just this side of love is where you'll find the confidence not to continue Your body breaks Your needs consume you forever And with this lies the need to be here together |
OOOh and:
Built To Spill Lyrics In Your Mind Lyrics the symptoms of our getting older the problems that say we don't mind that most of us never get over the memories mingled with lies coincidence gave a confession that no one's allowed to forget I don't wanna give the impression that predestination is set the distance will increase the danger where certainty's never enjoyed regarded as equal yet stranger embark then embrace then destroy observing the process will change it and afterwards even if you subconsciously rearrange it it doesn't seem any less true remnants of thought disappearing and even transcending concern disturbing but somehow endearing conditioned to never unlearn and no one can tell me to listen and no one can tell me what's right 'cause nobody has my permission and no one can see in your mind in your mind in your mind in your mind when magnifications explore there slowly emerges a pattern the details you normally ignore you notice really what matters there isn't a time or a place only an ebb and a flowing a permanent repeating space occuring, connecting and growing and no one can tell me to listen and no one can tell me what's right 'cause nobody has my permission and no one can see in your mind in your mind in your mind in your mind |
I'm gonna rent myself a house in the shade of the freeway
and when I pack my lunch in the morning and go to work each day and when the evening rolls around I'll come on home and lay my body down And when the morning sun comes creeping in I'll get up and do it again. Amen Get it up again Caught between the longing for love and the struggle for the legal tender Where the heirs lay claims and play their games with the heart and soul of the sender and the veterans dream of a fight fast asleep at the traffic light and the children solemnly wait for the ice cream vendor Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender He knows that all his hope and dreams begin and end there. |
Watched "Taking Chance" today.
Afterwards, this song kept rolling though my mind. -------------------- 1916 - Motorhead Sixteen years old when I went to the war To fight for a land fit for heroes God on my side and a gun in my hand Chasing my days down to zero And I marched, and I fought And I bled, and I died And I never did get any older But I knew at the time That a year in the line Was a long enough life for a soldier We all volunteered And we wrote down our names And we added two years to our ages Eager for life And ahead of the game Ready for history's pages And we brawled, and we fought And we whored 'till we stood Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder At thirst for the Hun We were food for the gun And that's what you are when you're soldiers I heard my friend cry And he sank to his knees Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother And I fell by his side And that's how we died Clinging like kids to each other And I lay in the mud, and the guts and the blood And I wept as his body grew colder And I called for my mother, and she never came Though it wasn't my fault, and I wasn't to blame The day not half over, and ten thousand slain And now there's nobody remembers our names And that's how it is For a soldier |
If you need a friend,
don't look to a stranger, You know in the end, I'll always be there. And when you're in doubt, and when you're in danger, Take a look all around, and I'll be there. I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise) I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise) But if you wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me, I promise, I promise you I will. When your day is through, and so is your temper, You know what to do, I'm gonna always be there. Sometimes if I shout, it's not what's intended. These words just come out, with no gripe to bear. I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise) I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise) But if you wait around a while, I'll make you fall for me, I promise, I promise you... I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say. (I promise) I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be. (I promise) And if I had to walk the world, that make you fall for me, I promise you, I promise you I will. |
Saul Williams - Act III, Scene 2 (Shakespeare)
This is a call out to all the youth in the ghettos, suburbs, villages, townships To all the kids who download this song for free By any means To all the kids short on loot but high on dreams All the kids watching TV like, "Yo, I wish that was me." And all the kids pressing rewind on Let's Get Free I hear you To all the people within the sound of my voice Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line (Shakespeare) Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line I didn't vote for this state of affairs My emotional state's got me prostrate, fearing my fears In all reality I'm under prepared 'Cause I'm ready for war but not sure if I'm ready to care And that's why I'm under prepared 'Cause I'm ready to fight But most fights got me fighting back tears 'Cause the truth is really I'm scared Not scared of the truth But just scared of the length you'll go to fight it I tried to hold my tongue, son I tried to bite it I'm not trying to start a riot or incite it 'Cause Brutus is an honorable man It's just coincidence that oil men would wage war on an oil rich land And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam But Brutus is an honorable man Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line (Shakespeare) Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line If you have tears prepare to shed them now For you share the guilt of blood spilt in accordance with the Dow Jones Dow drops fresh crop skull and bones A machete in the heady, Hutu, Tutsi, Leone An Afghani in a shanty, doodle dandy yank on An Iraqi in Gap khaki, Coca Coma come on Be ye bishop or pawn In the streets or the lawn You should know that these example could go on and on and What since does it make to keep your ears to the street As long as oils in the soil, truth is never concrete So we dare to represent those with the barest of feet 'Cause the laws to which we're loyal keep the soil deplete It's our job to not let history repeat Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line (Shakespeare) Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line (Shakespeare) Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line (Shakespeare) Spit for the hated, the reviled, the unrefined The no ones, the nobodies, the last in line So here's the plan The Ides of March are always at hand And when the power hungry strike They strike the poorest of man And if you dare put up a fight They'll come and fight for your land And they'll call it liberation or salvation A call to the youth Your freedom ain't so free, it's just loose But the power of your voice could redirect any truth Shift and shape the world you want And keep your fears in a noose Let them dangle from a banner star spangled I'm willing and able To lift my dreams up out of their cradle Nurse and nurture my ideals 'Til they're much more than a fable I can be all I can be and do much more than I'm paid to And I won't be a slave to What authorities say do My desire to live within a nation on fire Where creative passions burn and raise the stakes ever higher Where no person is addicted to some twisted supplier Who promotes the sort of freedom sold to the highest buyer We demand a truth naturally at one with the land Not a plant that photosynthesizes bombs on demand Or a search for any weapons we let fall from our hands I got beats and a plan I'mma do what I can And what you do is question everything they say do Every goal ideal or value they keep pushing on you If they ask you to believe it question whether it's true If they ask you to achieve, is it for them or for you? You're the one they're asking to go carry a gun Warfare ain't humanitarian You're scaring me, son Why not fight to feed the homeless, jobless, fight inflation? Why not fight for our own healthcare and our education? And instead, invest in that erasable lead 'Cause their twisted propaganda can't erase all the dead And the pile of corpses pyramid on top of our heads Or nevermind, said the shotgun to the head |

They're really saying "I love you" I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll ever know And I think to myself, what a wonderful world Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world Oh yeah |
"Stars"
Anyone who ever held you Would tell you the way I'm feeling Anyone who ever wanted you Would try to tell you what I feel inside The only thing I ever wanted Was the feeling that you ain't faking The only one you ever thought about Wait a minute can't you see that I I wanna fall from the stars Straight into your arms I, I feel you I hope you comprehend For the man who tried to hurt you He's explaining the way I'm feeling For all the jealousy I caused you States the reason why I'm trying to hide As for all the things you taught me It sends my future into clearer dimensions You'll never know how much you hurt me Stay a minute can't you see that I I wanna fall from the stars Straight into your arms I, I feel you I hope you comprehend Too many hearts are broken A lover's promise never came with a maybe So many words are left unspoken The silent voices are driving me crazy As for all the pain you caused me Making up could never be your intention You'll never know how much you hurt me Stay can't you see that I I wanna fall from the stars Straight into your arms I, I feel you I hope you comprehend |
Silent House by Crowded House
Written by Neil Finn about his mother It makes me all teary, and also makes me so grateful that although I'm not an internationally appreciated, talented, Kiwi songwriter/ singer/ genius, I do have this chance to live with the 'rents and love them for who they are. Not sure which they would choose tho' ;) Silent House These walls Have eyes Rows of photographs And faces like mine Who do We become Without knowing where We started from It’s true I’m missing you And I stand alone Inside your room Everything that you made by hand Everything that you know by heart I will try to connect All the pieces you’ve left I will carry it on And let you forget I’ll remember the years When your mind was still clear All the flickering lights That filled up this silent house One room Two beds In the closet hangs Your favourite dress Good books And the best that you ever had Are in pieces now The pages ashred Everything that you made by hand Everything that you know by heart I will try to connect All the pieces you’ve left I will carry it on And let you forget I’ll remember the years When your mind was still clear All the flickering lights That filled up this silent house Everything that you made by hand Everything that you know by heart All the names that you can’t recall I will try to connect All the pieces you’ve left I will carry it on And let you forget I’ll remember the years When your mind was still clear All the flickering lights That filled up this silent house Found this. And had to put it in. I know it's not in the spirit of the thread, but although the words are beautiful (IMO, almost poetry) when set to music they grow another life. I do adore him. For the record - if I believed in angels, they would sound like Neil Finn. |
PS - sorry to bang on.
But I just reread this & rewatched the YouTube clip. Good lord, I adore this man. I mean, really. His voice His musical ability (he plays SO many instruments!) His amazing stream-of-consciousness lyrics You know the Dinner Party game? Neil & Tim Finn have been on my list since I was 16. Paul Hester too. But he hanged himself. |
how 'bout a little les mis?
[JAVERT] Now bring me prisoner 24601 Your time is up And your parole's begun You know what that means. [VALJEAN] Yes, it means I'm free. [JAVERT] No! It means you get Your yellow ticket-of-leave You are a thief [VALJEAN] I stole a loaf of bread. [JAVERT] You robbed a house. [VALJEAN] I broke a window pane. My sister's child was close to death And we were starving. [JAVERT] You will starve again Unless you learn the meaning of the law. [VALJEAN] I know the meaning of those 19 years A slave of the law [JAVERT] Five years for what you did The rest because you tried to run Yes, 24601. [VALJEAN] My name is Jean Valjean [JAVERT] And I am Javert Do not forget my name! Do not forget me, 24601. [PRISONERS] Look down, look down You'll always be a slave Look down, look down You're standing in your grave. [VALJEAN] Freedom is mine. The earth is still. I feel the wind. I breathe again. And the sky clears The world is waking. Drink from the pool. How clean the taste. Never forget the years, the waste. Nor forgive them For what they've done. They are the guilty - everyone. The day begins... And now lets see What this new world Will do for me! [He finds work on a farm] [FARMER] You'll have to go I'll pay you off for the day Collect your bits and pieces there And be on your way. [VALJEAN] You have given me half What the other men get! This handful of tin Wouldn't buy my sweat! [LABORER] You broke the law It's there for people to see Why should you get the same As honest men like me? [VALJEAN] Now every door is closed to me Another jail. Another key. Another chain For when I come to any town They check my papers And they find the mark of Cain In their eyes I see their fear `We do not want you here.' [He comes to an inn] [INKEEPER'S WIFE] My rooms are full And I've no supper to spare I'd like to help a stranger All we want is to be fair [VALJEAN] I will pay in advance I can sleep in a barn You see how dark it is I'm not some kind of dog! [INNKEEPER] You leave my house Or feel the weight of my rod We're law-abiding people here Thanks be to God. [They throw him out of the inn] [VALJEAN] And now I know how freedom feels The jailer always at your heels It is the law! This piece of paper in my hand That makes me cursed throughout the land It is the law! Like a cur I walk the street, The dirt beneath their feet. [He sits down despairingly outside a house from which emerges the Bishop of Digne.] [BISHOP] Come in, Sir, for you are weary, And the night is cold out there. Though our lives are very humble What we have, we have to share. There is wine here to revive you. There is bread to make you strong, There's a bed to rest till morning, Rest from pain, and rest from wrong. [VALJEAN] He let me eat my fill I had the lion's share The silver in my hand Cost twice what I had earned In all those nineteen years - That lifetime of despair And yet he trusted me. The old fool trusted me - He'd done his bit of good I played the grateful serf And thanked him like I should But when the house was still, I got up in the night. Took the silver Took my flight! [Taking the silver cup, he runs off, but is brought back by two constables] |
Touch of Grey - the Dead
Must be getting early, clocks are running late. Paint my love a morning sky, its all cold. Dawn is breaking everywhere, light a candle, curse the glare Draw the curtains I dont care, but its all right I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive. I see youve got your list out, say your piece and kiss off. Guess I get the gist of it, but its all right Oh well anyway, sorry that you feel that way. Every silver linings got a touch of grey I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive. Its a lesson to me, the ablers and the beggars and the thieves The abcs we all think of, try to win a little love. I know the rent is in arrears, the dog has not been fed in years Its even worse than it appears, but its all right Cow is giving kerosene, kid cant read at seventeen The words he knows are all obscene, but its all right I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive. Shoe is on the hand that fits, thats all there really is to it Whistle through your teeth and spit, but its all right Oh well a touch of grey, kinda suits you anyway, Thats all I had to say, but its all right I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive. Its a lesson to me, the devils and the east and the free The abcs we all must face, try to save a little grace. |

Higher Love - stevie winwood
Think about it, there must be higher love Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above Without it, life is a wasted time Look inside your heart, Ill look inside mine Things look so bad everywhere In this whole world, what is fair? We walk blind and we try to see Falling behind in what could be Bring me a higher love Bring me a higher love Bring me a higher love Wheres that higher love I keep thinking of? Worlds are turning and were just hanging on Facing our fear and standing out there alone A yearning, and its real to me There must be someone whos feeling for me Things look so bad everywhere In this whole world, what is fair? We walk blind and we try to see Falling behind in what could be Bring me a higher love Bring me a higher love Bring me a higher love Wheres that higher love I keep thinking of? |
FTR, I've seen Les Mis live a stupid amount of times.
And it made me cry every time. I always hated the tourists for laughing during Lovely Ladies. I was fine with the song on the album, but cried buckets in the THEATRE! (was that right?) when Fantine sold her hair. Never did get round to reading the book though. |
Nice Stevie Winwood, Bri. :)
Sigh... |
If you listen you can hear it
It's the laughter in the street It's the motion in the music And the fire beneath your feet All the signs are right this time You don't have to try so very hard If you live in this world You're feelin' the change of the guard All the cowboys and your neighbors Can you swallow up your pride Take your guns off if you're willin' And you know we're on your side If you wanna get thru the years It's high time you played your card If you live in this world You're feelin' the change of the guard --Steely Dan (Fagen, Becker) |
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips Drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten Oh, oh, oh I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips Drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten --Natasha Bedingfield |
(I miss you miss you)
Hello there the angel from my nightmare The shadow in the backround of the morgue The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley We can live like Jack and Sally if we want Where you can always find me And we'll have Halloween on Christmas And in the night we'll wish this never ends We'll wish this never ends Where are you and I'm so sorry I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight I need somebody and always This sick strange darkness comes creeping on so haunting everytime And as I stared I counted the webs from all the spiders catching things and eating their insides Like indecision to call you And hear your voice of treason Will you come home and stop this pain tonight stop this pain tonight Don't waste your time on me you're already the voice inside my head Don't waste your time on me you're already the voice inside my head I miss you --Blink 182 |
One week of every year is designated National Brotherhood Week. This is just one of many such weeks honoring various worthy causes. One of my favorites is National Make-fun-of-the-handicapped Week which Frank Fontaine and Jerry Lewis are in charge of as you know. During National Brotherhood Week various special events are arranged to drive home the message of brotherhood. This year, for example, on the first day of the week Malcolm X was killed which gives you an idea of how effective the whole thing is. I'm sure we all agree that we ought to love one another and I know there are people in the world that do not love their fellow human beings and I hate people like that. Here's a song about National Brotherhood Week. ---Tom Leher:
Oh, the white folks hate the black folks, And the black folks hate the white folks. To hate all but the right folks Is an old established rule. But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week, Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek. It's fun to eulogize The people you despise, As long as you don't let 'em in your school. Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks, And the rich folks hate the poor folks. All of my folks hate all of your folks, It's American as apple pie. But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week, New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans 'cause it's very chic. Step up and shake the hand Of someone you can't stand. You can tolerate him if you try. Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics, And the Catholics hate the Protestants, And the Hindus hate the Muslims, And everybody hates the Jews. But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week, It's National Everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood Week. Be nice to people who Are inferior to you. It's only for a week, so have no fear. Be grateful that it doesn't last all year! --Tom Leher |

Deb Talan, "Ashes on Your Eyes"
Just about the time your heart breaks like a wheel Not in a straight line, but all in pieces Some you'll leave behind on a road you won't revise No, you won't revisit that dirty compromise. Now you only dream in peaceful blue The morning doesn't even scare you anymore You are a phoenix with your feathers still a little wet Baby, the ashes just look pretty on your eyes. So look up, up ahead The city lights are dancing for you Or is it the aurora burning of the edges of the sky? Don't cry, don't cry That's all over now. Now you only dream in peaceful blue The morning doesn't even scare you anymore You are a phoenix with your feathers still a little wet Baby, the ashes just look pretty on your eyes. Dry your wings in the sun You have only begun to understand When it's time to move on there is no one To hold your hand. So let go, let go, let go. Here the night is fine The stars are sparks of steel Chiseled in the mines of twilight You tell me something real, say "Don't try, don't try Just remember how, remember, remember" Now you only dream in peaceful blue The morning doesn't even scare you anymore You are a phoenix with your feathers still a little wet Baby, the ashes just look pretty on your eyes. |
Iron & Wine - Jezebel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghBJhGIcneU
who's seen jezebel? she was born to be the woman i would know and hold like the breeze half as tight as both our eyes closed who's seen jezebel? she went walking where the cedars line the road her blouse on the ground where the dogs were hungry, roaming saying, "wait, we swear we'll love you more and holy jezebel, it's we, we that you are for only" who's seen jezebel? she was born to be the woman we could blame make me a beast half as brave i'd be the same who's seen jezebel? she was gone before i ever got to say "lay here my love you're the only shape i'll pray to, jezebel" who's seen jezebel? will the mountain last as long as i can wait wait like the dawn how it aches to meet the day who's seen jezebel? she was certainly the spark for all i've done the window was wide she could see the dogs come running saying, "wait, we swear we'll love you more and wholly jezebel, it's we, we that you are for only" |
I've recently been rediscovering The Divine Comedy's back catalogue:P
There're are a couple of albums that were basically the soundtrack to a very strange and exhilirating year. I always loved this one. It spoke to me. It caught the exhiliration. Don't Look Down by The Divine Comedy "Birds and planes go Through the rainbow Every day though You simply refuse Old-fashioned Ferris Wheels Are no big deal They're just big wheels with chairs So don't be scared Just set yourself free" She tells me it's alright To open up my eyes She holds onto my hand And the clouds float by The couple in the car below They wave to us and say hello I think they understand The way we're feeling I don't need to say 'I love you' When we're floating So far up above Everyone else's lives Are intertwined With yours and mine I hope They find the joy That we have found She tells me it's alright To open up my eyes She holds onto my hand And the clouds race by The couple in the car above I suppose they think That we're in love I think they might be right And without warning when we're almost at the top The wheel that turns us all comes to a sudden stop. The wind that's blown us dies a quick and painless death The air gets clammy and we hold each other's breath We get the feeling that we're not alone in this And then a God who really ought not to exist Sticks out a great big hand And grabs me by the wrist And asks me "why?" and I say "Well God, it's like this It may be arrogance Or just appalling taste But I'd rather use my pain than let it all go to waste On some old god who tells me what I want to hear As if I cannot tell obedience from fear I want to take my pleasures where and how I will, Be they disgraceful or distasteful or distilled And to be frank I find that life has more appeal Without a driver who's asleep behind the wheel" Then God decides that he has taken quite enough Of all this atheistic tosh I'm spouting off And so he calls upon his favourite angel choir To sing of times when men were filled with christian fire But over-zealous angels flap their wings too fast And cause the wind to blow and turn the wheel at last And soon my feet are safely back on solid ground And then I hear a voice say "Don't look down!". Don't Look Down |
And again, from The Divine Comedy (from the album Casanova)
Middle-Class Heroes I see oriental paper globes hanging like decomposing cocoons while exotic candles overload the dusty air with their stale perfume And I see lentils, beans, seaweed and rice in jars on the windowsill And it ain't hardly enough to feed the mice running behind the lines of allergy pills All these things will come to pass when heroes of the middle class face up to their responsibilities I see an Indian fertility God he's got thirty seven limbs to spare And tasteless tie-dyed tablecloths that double up as evening wear And I see naked bodies twist and turn on the futon of dreams fulfilled But their three-year-old kid seems unconcerned he'd rather swallow all those allergy pills I see unspeakable vulgarity institutionalised mediocrity infinite tragedy Rise up little souls - join the doomed army Fight the good fight - wage the unwinnable war Elegance against ignorance Difference against indifference Wit against shit My words fly up to heaven, my thoughts remain below Words said without feeling never to heaven go... All these things will come to pass when heroes of the middle-class face up, repent, and pay the price for accidentally creating life An oversight for which they must atone and sacrifice their own |

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daCzHvg23pc I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love Can the child within my heart rise above Can I sail through the changing ocean tides Can I handle the seasons of my life Well, I've been afraid of changing cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older I'm getting older too Oh, take my love, take it down Climb a mountain and turn around If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well maybe the landslide will bring it down |
If You've Only Got A Moustache
Stephen Foster (1864) Oh! all of you poor single men, Don't ever give up in despair, For there's always a chance while there's life To capture the hearts of the fair, No matter what may be your age, You always may cut a fine dash, You will suit all the girls to a hair If you've only got a moustache, A moustache, a moustache, If you've only got a moustache. No matter for manners or style, No matter for birth or for fame, All these used to have something to do With young ladies changing their name, There's no reason now to despond, Or go and do any thing rash, For you'll do though you can't raise a cent, If you'll only raise a moustache! A moustache, a moustache, If you'll only raise a moustache. Your head may be thick as a block, And empty as any foot-ball, Oh! your eyes may be green as the grass Your heart just as hard as a wall. Yet take the advice that I give, You'll soon gain affection and cash, And will be all the rage with the girls, If you'll only get a moustache, A moustache, a moustache, If you'll only get a moustache. I once was in sorrow and tears Because I was jilted you know, So right down to the river I ran To quickly dispose of my woe, A good friend he gave me advice And timely prevented the splash, Now at home I've a wife and ten heirs, And all through a handsome moustache, A moustache, a moustache, And all through a handsome moustache. |
Joby Talbot (one half of The Divine) did all the music for the League. Including a throat grabbing While There's Still Time and Journeys End (in Lovers Meeting, for those that recognise the quote).
He also wrote the soundtrack for Son of Rambow - and if you haven't yet seen it, you should. A little too saccharine in the end, but as a British film it deserves any plaudits it finds. My long lost friend Tim bought me a Divine Comedy CD, which I adored. Long lost too, I'm afraid. He told me a track really reminded him of me, and I loved it for that reson. It was about mermaids. I didn't like to tell him that a mermaid was a symbol of a whore... |
If you search for tenderness
it isn't hard to find. You can have the love you need to live. But if you look for truthfulness You might just as well be blind. It always seems to be so hard to give. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can always find someone to say they sympathize. If I wear my heart out on my sleeve. But I don't want some pretty face to tell me pretty lies. All I want is someone to believe. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can find a lover. I can find a friend. I can have security until the bitter end. Anyone can comfort me with promises again. I know, I know. When I'm deep inside of me don't be too concerned. I won't ask for nothin' while I'm gone. But when I want sincerity tell me where else can I turn. Because you're the one I depend upon. --Billy Joel |
If You Wanna Be Happy -- Jimmy Soul
If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you A pretty woman makes her husband look small And very often causes his downfall As soon as he married her and then she starts To do the things that will break his heart But if you make an ugly woman your wife A-you'll be happy for the rest of your life An ug-a-ly woman cooks meals on time And she'll always give you peace of mind If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you [Sax solo] Don't let your friends say you have no taste Go ahead and marry anyway Though her face is ugly, her eyes don't match Take it from me, she's a better catch If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you [Spoken:] Say man! Hey baby! I saw your wife the other day! Yeah? Yeah, an' she's ug-leeee! Yeah, she's ugly, but she sure can cook, baby! Yeah, alright! If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life Never make a pretty woman your wife So for my personal point of view Get an ugly girl to marry you |
In 1986, the University of California Davis, sought two of the
all-time brightest stars, Dr. Alphonze Mephesto, and Dr. Arny Abe Sacrabin, Dr. Mephesto worked hard toward his thesis, his goal was to genetically duplicate the DNA structure of asparagus, so that all asparagus would grow to the same girth and length, giving asparagus a much more pleasant presentation in the world's supermarket vegetable business. Dr. Abe Sacrabin's goal was to genetically create the greatest musical entertainer the world had ever seen, Dr. Abe Sacrabin knew that if he could assemble the right elements he could theoretically build a DNA structure, that would ensure his creation of talent far surpassing the average individual. At the time, one subject of urban myth was the story that Michael Jackson, in a effort to retain his youthful look and feminine vocal characteristics had his testicles surgically removed, thereby making him a modern day Castrato, If such a rumor were true, Michael Jackson more than likely would have some of his semen preserved before the surgery to insure the future of his name and lineage. Word came back to Dr. Abe Sacrabin, of a secret cold storage locker deep within the bowels of a UCLA research center, that not only contained four containers of frozen semen, but also held a pair of testicles each was labeled with the name, Jack Michaelson. I once heard a noise, In the night the most sensuous voice, the song of love from an angelic boy, stuck in my head, and this is what he said, "I am gopher boy, pondering reality, I am gopher boy, Who will buy my raspberries?" This had to be the seed of the king of pop, Dr. Abe Sacrabin was able to use his charm and chiseled great features to woo a young lab technician by the name of Jennifer, who of course just happened to have the proper access needed to obtain a small vile of the precious semen. The search for the egg was a short one, Dr. Mephesto simply ran an ad in the classified section of an LA Music magazine. The ad read: "Wanted: Unfertilized human eggs for genetic experiment. Donors must have musical background." With a plethora of young eager wannabe musical stardoms, willing to sell their eggs, the two doctors, after rigorous auditioning, picked and purchased. Dr. Abe Sacrabin felt that it would be far less complicated legally, if the fetus was brought to term in the womb of a non human. He had long since secured the services of the University Volleyball Mascot, a llama by the name of Missy. When the baby was ready, the child was removed via cesarean. It was a healthy baby boy, and he was named Kevin. I once heard a noise, In the night the most sensuous voice, the song of love from an angelic boy, stuck in my head, and this is what he said, "I am gopher boy, pondering reality, I am gopher boy, Who will buy my raspberries?" Kevin was a beautiful child, Dr. Abe Sacrabin sought to it that Kevin was trained by the best in all aspects of performing, his voice was golden and had a sweetness to it that most males lacked. He moved with grace and was able to moonwalk by the time he was three. As Kevin grew with talent, Dr. Abe Sacrabin started noticing odd developments in his physical state. When Kevin lost his baby teeth, his secondaries came in with a vengeance, they were at least twice the size as a normal adult's and the two in front stuck nearly straight out, also as Kevin reached the 8th year, he was the same height as he was when he was 4. To top it off, he was growing hair all over and his penis was enormous, even by adult standards. It also dawned on the doctor that even through all the years of hearing Kevin's singing, he rarely spoke, often chosing to communicate through various grunts and gurgles I once heard a voice, In the night the most sensuous voice, the song of love from an angelic boy, stuck in my head, and this is what he said, "I am gopher boy, pondering reality, I am Gopher Boy, who will buy my raspberries?" Other's were noticing the changes in Kevin, the children began to tease him, and call him "Gopher Boy". One Day, a bully by the name of Big Roy, started throwing bananas at him, soon a crowd of kids were all throwing bananas. Suddenly, in a fury, Kevin rushed at Big Roy and bit 3 fingers off on his left hand. Kevin was taken away and placed in the custody of the state, Dr. Abe Sacrabin actions were found out, but because there was no legislation concerning the genetic construction of another human being, no criminal charges were brought forth. The medical association's board of ethics stripped him of all his credentials and his reputation was ruined, in fact, his name became so synonymous with failure, that for years to come, med students around the world were known to say in time of mishap, "Damn, I feel just like Abe Sacrabin." Dr. Mephesto immediately began proceeds to adopt little Kevin. Being a noted scientist and the creator of the cloned asparagus, it wasn't long before the two were legally united as father and son. They moved to Colorado, where they live in relative obscurity. Kevin is still a boy, of few spoken words, sticking mainly to his grunts and gurgles, but on occasion, if you listen closely, you can hear his sweet golden singing voice, ring out into the night, over the small town, of South Park. "I am gopher boy pondering reality, I am Gopher Boy, who will buy my raspberries?" |
I don't really understand it, but apparently, Gopher Boy wants to sell someone his raspberries.

Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains of what began with a passionate start And they may not want it to end But it will it's just a question of when I've lived long enough to have learned The closer you get to the fire the more you get burned But that won't happen to us Because it's always been a matter of trust I know you're an emotional girl It took a lot for you to not lose your faith in this world I can't offer you proof But you're going to face a moment of truth It's hard when you're always afraid You just recover when another belief is betrayed So break my heart if you must It's a matter of trust You can't go the distance With too much resistance I know you have doubts But for God's sake don't shut me out This time you've got nothing to lose You can take it, you can leave it Whatever you choose I won't hold back anything And I'll walk a way a fool or a king Some love is just a lie of the mind It's make believe until it's only a matter of time And some might have learned to adjust But then it never was a matter of trust I'm sure you're aware love We've both had our share of Believing too long When the whole situation was wrong Some love is just a lie of the soul A constant battle for the ultimate state of control After you've heard lie upon lie There can hardly be a question of why Some love is just a lie of the heart The cold remains of what began with a passionate start But that can't happen to us Because it's always been a matter of trust --Billy Joel, Matter of Trust |
Moment of Truth - FM Static :D
Here we are, in the best years of our lives. With no way of knowing, when the Wheel stop spinning cause we don't Know where we're going... And here we are, on the best day of our lives. And it's a go, lets make it last, so cheers you All to that, 'cause this moment's never comin' back I used to know about her brother, but I never Knew I loved her, 'till the day she laid her Eyes on me. Now I'm jumpin' up and down, She's the only one around, and she means Every little thing to me I've got your picture in my wallet, and your Phone number to call it, and I miss you more, Whenever I think about you,. I've got Your mixed tape in my Walkman, been so Long since we've been talkin' and in a few More days, we'll both hook up, forever and ever And here I am, on the west coast of American and I've been tryin' to think for weeks of All the ways to ask you, And now I've brought you to the place, Where I've Poured my heart out, a million times, for a million Reasons, To offer it to you I used to know her brother, but I never Knew I loved her, 'till the day she laid her Eyes on me. Now I'm jumpin' up and down, She's the only one around, and she means Every little thing to me I've got your picture in my wallet, and your Phone number to call it, and I miss you more, Whenever I think about you,. This song played on the radio this morning. I called BelovedDaughter and asked if she was driving. Nope, still at home, why? Because there's a song playing that makes me think of you. She could hear it in the background and she said, I think of me too when I hear that song. I told her good, but don't hurry through it, enjoy each day. We exchanged "I love you"s and I hung up before she could hear my voice fail.

Don't Mess With Musicians
I think this is a prime example of don't mess with musicians. In the old days even royalty was afraid of someone writing them in a song.
This guy took on United Airlines for breaking his $3600 Taylor guitar. Very catchy tune. |

Before The Storm
Red gates of iron cast their Black shadows on this land Dividing souls... far below The gathering winds the armies watch Are rising from the west Foretelling news... of freedom’s hand In secrecy they’ve infiltrated All of our strongholds Controlling more... year after year So we’ve let this happen all along Believing what’s been said Our leaders cry... we have no one to fear We watch the sun rise, and hope We watch the sun rise, and hope That it won’t be our last Before the storm Before the storm Before the storm Before the storm Is it late to try, must we all die Our system awaits testv freedom by choice... Is it for all men, best So we wait in fear the atom split Our hearts in two be torn Learn from the past... before the storm We watch the sunrise, and hope We watch the sunrise, and hope That it won’t be our last |
I love this song but never actually read the lyrics before.
"Back 2 Good"
It's nothing, it's so normal you Just stand there I could say so much But I don't go there cuz I don't want to I was thinking if you were lonely Maybe we could leave here and no one would know At least not to the point that we would think so Everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking about Somebody else It's best if we all keep it under our heads I couldn't tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do But I'm lonely now, and I don't know how To get it back to good This don't mean that, you own me This ain't no good, in fact it's phony as hell But things worked out just like you wanted too If you see me out you don't know me Try to turn your head, try to give me some room To figure out just what I'm going to do And everyone here, hates everyone here for doing just like They do It's best if we all keep this quiet instead And I couldn't tell, why everyone here was doing me like They do But I'm sorry now, and I don't know how To get it back to good Everyone here, is wondering what it's like to be with Somebody else Everyone here's to blame, everyone here Gets caught up in the pleasure of the pain, everyone hides Shades of shame, but looking inside we're the same, we're The same And we're all grown now, but we don't know how To get it back to good Everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking 'bout Somebody else It's best if we all keep this under our heads I couldn't tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do But it's over now, and I don't know how, it's over now There's no getting back to good Matchbox 20 |
Miss independent
Miss self-sufficient Miss keep your distance Miss unafraid Miss out of my way Miss don't let a man interfere, no Miss on her own Miss almost grown Miss never let a man help her off her throne So, by keeping her heart protected She'll never, ever feel rejected Little miss apprehensive Said ooh, she fell in love What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? Goodbye, old you, when love, is true Misguided heart Miss play it smart Miss if you wanna use that line, you better not start, no But she miscalculated She didn't wanna end up jaded And this miss decided not to miss out on true love So, by changing a misconception She went in a new direction And found inside, she felt a connection She fell in love What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? Goodbye, old you, when love, is true (when love, is true) When miss independent walked away No time for love that came her way She looked in the mirror and thought today What happened to miss no longer afraid? It took some time for her to see How beautiful love could truly be No more talk of why can't that be me I'm so glad I've finally seen What is this feeling taking over? Thinking no one could open the door Surprise, it's time, to feel what's real What happened to miss independent's no longer need to be defensive? I run from prejudice I run from pessimists But I run too late I run my life Or is it running me Run from my past I run too fast Or too slow it seems When lies become the truth That’s when I run to you This world keeps spinning faster Into a new disaster so I run to you I run to you baby And when it all starts coming undone Baby you’re the only one I run to I run to you We run on fumes Your life and mine Like the sands of time Slippin’ right on through And our love’s the only truth That’s why I run to you --Lady Antebellum |
You Know Better - Tina Dico
It's late in the afternoon The light falls through the window It's draws a cross Above my bed Where you're on a different moon Where violent winds blow with no course Inside your head You think there may be something wrong with you To make you doubt your love like this Well, I guess I'm singing out this song to you To let you know I think there is But you know better than me You know better than anyone You know better than me You know better than me "Maybe it's selfishness" you say "All the promise I've broken thoughtlesly I know that's no way to live" "Or maybe it's mere distress" I say "Fear to let anyone close enough to see That you've got nothing to give?" You say you need to travel far away To make you think of something else Well, I think you'd find out if you dared to stay That far away is a place inside yourself But you know better than me You know better than anyone You know better than me You know better than me Oh, did you ever place a bet? Did you ever gamble anything for love? What you give is what you get And now you know it's not enough You say you need to travel far away To make you think of something else Well, I think you'd find out if you dared to stay That far away is a place inside yourself But you know better than me You know better than anyone You know better than me You know better than me of course it is much better sung, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TSW1...ext=1&index=47 |
