Did anyone notice on the tree sign thing that it says the cat died???

zazkia 10-21-2004 04:09 PM

hey everyone :)

I'm sorta new around here, so I'm not entirely sure if this has been mentioned yet, but here goes:

remember the code that kept flashing on the truck page?

1590521471 fourth word add s
0060254920 fifth word
0970042809 last word
.. etc?

well, the numbers looked like ISBN numbers, and if you look up the books they belong to (and take the fourth word of the title and add an s etc)

you get these words:

hints
are
riddles
remain
questions
bigger
date
the
await
calm
remain
to answer
will come
your time
that weight
those
come to
good things

.. which, if you read them from bottom to top as the lines were grouped in the code gives you:

'riddles are hints'
'bigger questions remain'
'await the date'
'remain calm'
'your time will come to answer'
'good things will come to those who weight'

P.S. oh, and you know how in the redhead robot pages, it said: unhssrvelette ??

well, that can be scrambled into: 'seventh result' and when googling 'david hanson' the seventh result gives you the david hanson you need...
(i know.. lot of good that does us.. just thought it was funny.. might just be coincidence though..)

well, thats all i've found out for now.. i really hope we solve this soon.. cuz its causing me some major sleep-deprivation :P:P

zazkia 10-21-2004 04:20 PM

oh, and one more thing... remember on the very first page.. the numbers you heard in the background? :
check out http://www.spynumbers.com/

( "59372 98324 19043 78903 95320...". The mechanized female voice drones on and on... What have you stumbled on to? Instructions to spies? Messages exchanged between drug dealers? Deliberate attempts at deception and mis-information?

Chances are, all of the above! What you've tuned in to is called a "Spy Numbers Station". They've been on the air for several decades, and only recently have the mysteries started to unfold. But there's still much we don't know about these mysterious stations. With the information on these pages, you'll discover the little that we do know about these stations, what we're still trying to learn, and how you too can tune in to the spies.)

dont know if that helps any.. but oh well... :)

When Jim felt something firm under his feet the poor beast's legs trembled so much that he could hardly stand; but Zeb at once leaped out of the buggy to the roof, and he was so awkward and hasty that he kicked over Dorothy's bird-cage, which rolled out upon the roof so that the bottom came off. At once a pink kitten crept out of the upset cage, sat down upon the glass roof, and yawned and blinked its round eyes.

"Oh," said Dorothy. "There's Eureka."

"First time I ever saw a pink cat," said Zeb.

"Eureka isn't pink; she's white. It's this queer light that gives her that color."

"Where's my milk?" asked the kitten, looking up into Dorothy's face. "I'm 'most starved to death."

"Oh, Eureka! Can you talk?"

"Talk! Am I talking? Good gracious, I believe I am. Isn't it funny?" asked the kitten.

"It's all wrong." said Zeb, gravely. "Animals ought not to talk.

L. Frank Baum
Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz

Going along the lines of Yuki's Bird. It may be nothing, but I figured it was worth a post.

Also I thought it might be interesting to note that "I have no mouth and I must scream" was not only a book, but was also made into an old DOS game back in '95 I believe.

It's essentially about a computer being in the future that controls the world. All that's left of humanity is a few people, each of which have their vices like vanity and such, which are exploited in what seems to be their own personal hell by this mechanized satan.

I used to play that on my old DOS machine, along with Zakk McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders.

Also, the dummy head is a robot, essentially. It's called the K-Bot, and it was made by a man named David Hanson.

"The head's got 24 servomotors, he says, covering the major muscles in the human face. It's got digital cameras in its eyes, to watch the people watching it, and new software will soon let the head mimic viewers. Its name is K-Bot, and it's modeled after Kristen Nelson, his lab assistant."

I'm not sure whether or not that has yet been covered.

Hello, by the way.

TheReaper 10-26-2004 10:34 AM

Hmm... the window says: "Frankenstein now, Yuki's bird"
I'm pretty sure the username is David, Hanson, David Hanson or something like that.
The password should be the name of Yuki's bird. What's its name?

Redneck 10-26-2004 11:52 AM

Someone has suggested that yuki's bird could be Yuki herself....Read "Dance Dance Dance" chapter 30 paragraph 265

"«Okay, suppose you were a bird,» I said, «and flying was something you really enjoyed and made you feel good. But there were certain circumstances that, except on rare occa*sions, kept you from flying. I don't know, let's say, lousy weather conditions, the direction of the wind, the season, things like that. But the more you couldn't fly, the more you wanted to fly and your energy built up inside you and made you irritable. You felt bottled up or something like that. You got annoyed, maybe even angry. You get me?» «I get you,» she said. «I always feel that way.» «Well, that's your sex drive.»"

Or it could be something to do with sex or being unaware of dangers...I don't know.

When are you guys going to figure out that this is an elaborate marketing scheme for the book "Dance, Dance, Dance?"

There are way too many connections between Yuki and Bird when Googled so it is easier to try stuff from the book first I guess. At least that's what I'm doing, then I will go on to other possible connections.

The picture you get to from "CuriosityKilledTheCat", I believe, leads to the truck driving away, which leads to the ascii image of what appears to be either a candle or a lighthouse. We followed up on the lighthouse, and on the Zuiderzee (IJsselmeer), there is a lighthouse called the 'Paard van Marken'. No idea if that is relevant, but the poem about the Zuiderzee refers to the boys of Marken.

Also, the Zuiderzee is supposed to have many wind turbines around it, just like the wind turbines in the picture taken from inside the car (with links to the head pictures.)

The phone number was from Gary, Indiana (or, Fort Wayne or South Bend.) There is only one K. Boruff in Gary that we could find, and apparently none in Fort Wayne or South Bend.

Does anyone happen to know of any other puzzle sites we could peruse?

Thank you.

I'm thinkin everyone has gone off to work on other puzzles and aren't payin any attention to TINP anymore...Oh well, if I find the next un/psw I will be nice and share it..but don't get your hopes up cuz I am getting low on ideas where to look for the answers.

3Engineersandafreak 11-01-2004 10:40 AM

I forget what page it is that has this on it, but there is a pop-up that... well, pops up, and it says "I persecute yellower thought." Could this possibly be an anagram or something of the sort? I am just wondering. Thisisnotporn uses the Navajo language more than once on puzzles, and I know anagrams have been used before, so perhaps they will be used again.

Also, perhaps using a thesaurus one might change the words, like "yellow" into "cowardly" and things like that? It might mean something sensible in a different form.

Mr. Ears 11-01-2004 12:50 PM

dude... someone on the TINP forums says he found out the username and password for the one of the two new ones...

infect 11-01-2004 03:51 PM

Supposedly, someone got into 'Audition, Death of a Travelling Salesman' but it is yet to be confirmed by TINP or anyone else. Still no word on the 'Frankenstein now, Yuki's Bird' prompt either.

I see that no one else is still concerned with this (or if they are they aren't posting) and i've been doing a bit of research...I dunno if it'll do anything for anybody, but it seems that the book "Death of a Traveling Salesman" was written by Eudora Welty, and it involved a shoe salesman that...well heres a synopsis:

http://www.storybites.com/weltysalesman.htm

Anyways, it talks about when he dies, he dies on a highway (one or two of the pictures was a highway) and it also talks about dying alone/being alone in life (i believe that one of the prompts had something to do with this)...didn't know if maybe that had to do with anything.

just tryin to bring some life back into this thread!

Contains the answer to /5...wats that? i know that was his away message yesterday, but is it relevant to TINP?

I also asked him if hints to the last 2 lights were in the rest of the lights, and he said there are clues every where...I then asked if he could give me something, anything, and he said lights and sound...I suggested the lights in the background and the sounds in the background and he said just research...I asked him later if he could give me anything else, and so he said dogs can look up, which is an argument that is considered a bit of an easter egg in "Shaun of the Dead" and is also in the commentary on the second season of the comedy "Spaced." Anything connecting?

Ender 11-12-2004 06:17 PM

Who is "he?" What is that away message "he" had? By the way, hello. ^.- I was instroduced to this site a month ago and I thought it was just some stupid puzzle site made by 'Grandpa Joe' who got the idea off of puzzles.com.... I later revisited and now that I know what it is, it's messing with my brain. I will aid as much as I can in figuring this out.

Ender 11-12-2004 06:23 PM

By the way, when I was on the http://www.thisisnotporn.com/see/IJsselmeer.htm page... I deleted the /IJsselmeer.htm, so it just said http://www.thisisnotporn.com/see. I was redirected to www.krisboruf.com/see, and after going on www.krisboruf.com it says nothing but.... "Welcome to boruffgoestogermany.com!" Does anyone know what's up with this?

Kita 11-12-2004 08:41 PM

Was directed here when looking for help for the you-know-what ;)

Ok, based on the new clues, here is what I have. Dogs, it is arguable whether or not they can lookup, but pigs definetly cant look up. Not sure if that helps :/

I tried many combinations of Jobes, wife, dancers, and hose, and got nothing but porn sites from google :( It must just be a riddle, not referencing any sort of literature or movie.

Oh, found something else. I know that this guy likes to change this puzzle, and I dont remember anyone mentioning this, so here is what I found on the Devil with 5 Fingers page:
There was nothing I could do. He had disappeared. I persecute yellower

There is another mention of this yellower person on I believe the page with the windmills as well. I think it is important, on both mentions it talks of him being the one to blame.....

juuhanna 11-13-2004 04:41 AM

Okay, the reason why I joined this place is because I wanna know more about TINP. I'm somewhat obsessed now... ;D

Just out of curiosity; has anyone figured out the very, <i>very</i> light text next to the tree with the glowing eyes says? In the "DON'T STRAY FROM THE PATH"-page? There's some question in it, it seems...

-------
edit: I've been trying to figure it out anyway... it looks like it says something along the lines of <i>
"HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT

*** OF YOU?" </i>

(*= no clue what letter it is)

And there are so many things I never got to see! Frustrating.

Ender 11-13-2004 08:47 AM

How would you like it if someone came along and picked something off of you? That was posted in the forums a while back.

Devangelist 11-13-2004 02:45 PM

thats a reference to the Wizard of Oz, when dorothy and the scarecrow (i believe its only them, kinda makes reference to the light prompt of "Dorothy and Scarecrow") take an apple off of the tree, the tree yells that line at them.

Also, the book "Dance Dance Dance" can be found here:

http://yanko.lib.ru/books/lit/engl/m...dance-engl.htm

If you scroll down on the page more you'll see where the story starts...its the complete book as far as I can tell! also anywhere where there is "<<...words...>>" that means the same as quotations ("...words..."). So if anyone has some spare time but doesn't feel like buying or borrowing the book from the library, please look this over, as the more people we have educated on the many sources he draws from, maybe people can put together previously unregarded bits of information...

[EDIT: I just found this essay online!

http://gbctrans.com/essay/essay.html

Earlier in the forums somebody (i believe redneck?) found quotes from frankenstein and from something else (i cant remember), but then he also said that in the diablo.gif picture he found the phrase "The french man in a box." Now I just skimmed through it so the comparisons aren't complete, but In that essay, it describes Bertolt Brecht (man with ideas of alienation)'s conversation with a woman he would later marry:

"So that's how you plan to spend the rest of your life?"
"Probably. At least that way I won't be bothering anybody."
"If you really feel that way," she said, "Why not live in a shoebox?
"A charming idea."

A man in a box, with theories on alienation (a main theme in both books), not necessarily french though
.
I'm gonna go see what more I can pull out of Google, but honestly, read this essay! it's especially helpful for understanding the basic idea(s) of Dance Dance Dance and The Wild Sheep Chase for those who haven't read them.]

Has anyone heard truthfully if anyone has gotten past those first 2 lights???

thanks, at least we have a few people still interested :(

Anyways, this "he" is the creator of TINP, supposedly Kris Boruff...I don't know if this is true or not, but...anyways, I've ordered Dance Dance Dance and The Wild Sheep Chase (the prequel to Dance Dance Dance and possibly another source of information ["whathappensafterwetireofchasingwildsheep?", anyone remember that?]) and I'll get reading on them...I'm also gonna get Eudora Welty's compilation that has Death of a Traveling Salesman in it, and who was it that said Audition was a book about a salesman? I don't remember if it was on this board or not, but if it was someone here, can you tell me where you saw it? The only thing I can find related to "Audition" that may have any relevance is a movie about a guy who fakes a movie audition to find a new wife and ends up with some psycho girl...you can amazon it if you wanna find out more about it.

PLEASE post if you have new information or something we overlooked before.

P.S. Is SilverPheonix and/or YellowBolt still out there? They were ALOT of help before and if they could still help out then we might get this figured out sooner, if at all.

Devangelist 11-13-2004 03:08 PM

You guys remember on the Master/Betrayer prompt, the right eye, which led you to Phillip Dick or whoever's fortune cookie, and it had the poetry, and when you would get to the very bottom line, something like "You are not of the path" would flash? Well I dunno how important that is or isn't, but it doesn't flash anymore...does that mean that maybe that section is part of the path now?

hmm...it must be my computer then...let me know if anyone else does/doesn't see the phrase, it may just be my computer...

Ender 11-14-2004 09:33 PM

Hey guys... my friend's dad is navajo, he said one of the navajo messages said... "A path only blind men see. & There lies the key." I don't know exactly what message it was from...... but yeah. Maybe that might help someone out, if someone hadn't already found that. He says he swears he saw something like that in Dante's "Inferno" and is looking it up. But this might be the wrong referance.

Devangelist 11-15-2004 11:37 AM

awesome info Ender, see if you can have that guy convert as much as he can, anything we can get helps alot.

I did a google search for blind men's path, and it came up a few times with this short play based on a fable the Persian poet Jalãl al-Din Rümï wrote, I don't know if that's the right reference (he seems to like to reference novels) but it is basically about the problems with human ignorance, political propaganda, etc. etc., but I remember seeing somewhere something about Truth...could Truth be the key? I dunno, heres the web site:

http://www.ecospherics.net/pages/PageBlinM&Eleph.html

This is pretty cool too...because it references both elephants and a Hose (Jobe's wife was plagued by runners and a hose), so maybe this play (or more assumably the original fable) has something to do with this.

[Edit: It turns out this fable was big influence to the american poet John Godfrey Saxe, so if anyone is familiar with his work, maybe we could check that out for any sort of blind men's paths, truths, keys, etc.]

Hajik 11-15-2004 11:58 AM

Not that this really has anything to do with helping you guys, but this guy got me to read a lot of really good books. I like this guy.

Devangelist 11-15-2004 06:17 PM

ender, TINP is saying that isn't part of the navajo code...where is it that you saw that? like tell me the location and what the navajo words were.

Ender 11-15-2004 08:04 PM

I don't know I will ask my friend exactly which code it was he saw. On another note has anyone found the correlation between the black page, that talks about sitting at a table. And the candle page? It just seems like it should go together, with the blackness, and then the candle lighting the way, and they are both linked off of the Moth links.

Devangelist 11-16-2004 10:58 AM

Are you talkin about the "candle" that is made up of a bunch of colored letters?

Because if you are, I think earlier in the thread it said that it was a lighthouse and that the lighthouse had relevance to the boys of Marken, so I assumed that what that was...

But then again, it could have multiple meanings.

I'm gonna kill TINP, I've gotten minimal sleep over his stupid website.

Hajik 11-16-2004 11:55 AM

Hey, anyone figure out what the head on the stake had to do with?
