Whoah. I hope you get an overflowing mug this month.

I gave my usual plus extra.

Wish I could help out Toad, but I'm as broke as broke can be.

If you're removing the tip jar, how will we be able to contribute in future?

Undertoad 10-01-2015 11:00 AM

You have filled the mug and I thank you. Anything additional at this point will go towards what didn't fill in the past, and future costs. (But once the place is paid for through 2015 I will remove the mug...)

Through thoughtful participation on the Cellar, and charity, in funds or in thoughts, toward us all.

Srsly if you ever wind up with extra funds in the future, I urge you to follow the xoB model and find people who would greatly benefit from a toehold. It helped me, and I am grateful. Now I want to become a helper myself.

What I think may happen is we may find other projects that are worthy of funding. Who knows what might be possible. We have already done a ton by putting our act together.

But you know, there are always people who feel bad about not being able to give, and feel left out of the Cellar in a small way. I think that's sad, everyone who is active should feel they are an important part of it, even if they are not able to give for any reason.

Maybe even if they don't want to. Everyone who posts is a contributor. Even everyone who reads.

One more touch and the mug goes away!

xoxoxoBruce 10-01-2015 06:38 PM

Oh, so now the mug's getting uppity. She used to get down and dirty with us, drank like a fish, swore like a sailor, copped feels at the pool table... skank. :p:

UT's got a blank space for your mug
And he'll write your name, love

Undertoad 10-02-2015 07:06 PM

great call back sir

You mentioned the costs are coming down. Also you've become Respectable, productive, middle class, eligible for Republicanship, citizen again, so you can handle the cost of the Cellar.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. :crone:
I have a way with words, eh? Feel free to use it.

Undertoad 10-26-2015 01:18 AM

Maybe the new challenge is finding something worth funding.

This smackdown has stuck with me. I thought about it a lot this morning. I guess I'd say what happened was partly that I lost any concept of any meaning of life at some point, and was in a very serious mental state.

In that adrift place, I was deeply unmotivated and kind of didn't like having been given a chore to do, even when it was entirely well-meaning. Who enjoys going to the bank? When I figured out that the bottom line of ignoring the chore was that I just gave the money back, it made it an easy non-decision, so I could feel less guilt about it.

I ignored a lot of life post-divorce; and I feel this was largely due to the fact that the anti-depressants I was still on were no longer necessary, and were preventing me from feeling the low level of anxiety that is secretly slightly motivating.

From what I understand, my condition is common among men of a certain age who don't have children, and is fatal if untreated. After a while, it's all just who gives a fuck? I found enough meaning in saving my own life to change things, but I don't begrudge the people who don't.

Needless to say, being in that state was not good preparation for the approaching economic downturn. Get your shit together, friends, our current good times are an excellent time to do that

Gravdigr 12-17-2018 09:53 AM

Meh, I'll do it tomorrow.

Also, I looove going to the bank.

Because that's where the money is.:jig:

lumberjim 12-17-2018 12:32 PM

And nowadays you can deposit checks with your banks mobile app.

How is the funding for the cellar going these days? I haven't contributed any money, and most of my content has been for my own future reference. Could you use a bit of coin in the coffers?

Undertoad 12-17-2018 01:22 PM

No, now that Linux servers are a commodity thing, it's hobby-level expenses to run it, not a problem. If we were still attracting people by the hundreds, it might be a different story. With just our bunch we are easy to manage.

Still looking for something worth funding, but nothing has come to mind. All my ideas take more time than money it seems.

Think gold-plated toilets.

And better weed.
