Also... according to many here, you don't take steps to protect yourself, you just wait for others to do it for you.

It wasn't until the last minute that I was actually aware it was satire.

There are posters up in all UK service stations "Thieves buy petrol too - secure your car and your belongings" - I guess it doesn't matter which country you're in, people forget they are responsible for their own safety.
