Think of it as early preparation for the funeral to come.

No, no, Flint. It needs one of those "BANG" flags that come out of the end of cartoon guns...check the ACME website :)

And a big fat No way!! to Big V about the music festival!! I must learn about the origin of the name.

Bumbershoot = Umbrella = rain = Seattle. Makes sense to me.

Perhaps surprisingly, that word dates from the early days of Montgolfier ballooning and first appeared in English in 1785. (Umbrella itself dates from the early seventeenth century, originally from an Italian word for a sunshade, with the first part traceable back to Latin umbra, shadow.)

The first example of bumbershoot in Professor Lighter’s Random House Historical Dictionary of the American Language is from 1896. There were some variations around in the early days, such as bumbersol (with sol presumably taken from parasol) and bumberell. By the first decade of the twentieth century it had settled down to bumbershoot.

This fairly rare example of the word in print comes from L Frank Baum’s book Sky Island of 1912:

 thank you. I've had no internet for 24 hours -it's been torture, what a lovely set of comments to come back to.

Here's my entry RKZ. I also toyed with the "three shredded wheat" theme for the last one, but decided that it night be just too obscure with all these youngsters about ;)

My favorite is the "invisible wank", but Sycamore is a real close second. They're all funny.

Anyway, it's a scene from "Dirty Dancing," where Patrick Swayze makes Jennifer Gray dance with him on a fallen log to learn balance. You're male, so you're forgiven for not immediately recognizing it. :)

Starts about a minute in....
