Heterochromia
1 Attachment(s)
Never thought to look up the term for it. Here are our daughter's eyes, RFN.
|
The medical term for 2 different colored eyes is heterochromia iridis or heterochromia iridium.

thanks, yes, I already looked it up.

I guess I never really consisdered it an "abnormality" before

Ummm..I believe I just said that...? 688.
Monster...I have news.........How do I put this.....Your daughter may be a young super-hero too! Alright seriously... Monster your daughter's eye is lovely! I have better than 20/20 vision...but sometimes it is a sign of someone who will have glaucoma. Keep up tightly with her vision checks! (there is a rumor that the air force takes on pilots with heterochromia for their advanced vision) As I can not support this claim...I will not stand by it...but it is a rumor.:) Super-sight powers...maybe...hmmm... |
She just got her eyes checked yesterday (as did we all), but thanks.
I googled it after you mentioned it and found that there can be a hereditary element. We always assumed it was just that, because while I have two hazel eyes, one is noticeably more brown than the other, particularly in bright sunlight, when people will sometimes comment that they look totally different. |
It can and is hereditary at times. My father has it...His eye looks just like mine.
So...now everyone is a super-hero...great......Well with your ability to make costumes you were probably bound to end up in those ranks anyway. :) |
My secret weapon is a supply of apostrophes which I go around adding to and removing from church signs and the like, so they read "Jesus' Save's", "Bobs Super Car's" and "High School Senior's prom picture's available from Mrs' Crums Office". (then I harvest the energy created by the irritation of passers-by, and use it to combat global warming :D) |
OOOOhhh... grrrr..... So it's your fault! I knew tho'se couldn't ALL be mistake's!!
|
Bowie eyes!

's funny -I'm so used to it, I forget it's unusual. It was more pronounced when she was a baby -one turned deep brown in a few days and the other stayed blue. All the medics were convinced it would follow. I wasn't. At about a year or so, the blue went green. No change since. I love it, and bizarrely, very few people notice. I get people who've known her for years suddenly say that were talking to her and suddenly noticed her eyes....
Do you get that too, cic? or is yours more obvious because of the pale blue? |

Some of my friends notice in the sun....after years....and say: Hey! Did you know that your eye is a different color than the other one?!? It is also a great trick question. On dates. Oh? So you think my eyes are beautiful? What color are they?!? :D When your daughter grows up and starts to date....make her get rid of the ones who know the correct answer....they are too close. lol! |
