Yea, like the Cranberries. I love Delores. I was also a Yes groupie in the mid-70s. So, I couldn't bear to vote on that one.

Bono is a Time Person of the Year, but can't get the highest honor at the Cellar. That's what makes this place great; you can't predict.....

DucksNuts 04-23-2006 09:26 PM

If I choose to bat for the other team, Gwen Stefani would be top of my list.

lumberjim 04-23-2006 11:19 PM

shit.

TiddyBaby 04-24-2006 02:18 AM

? shit?
How did boy george get entered?

I liked pearl jam... and they even protested the skyrocketing prices of concert tickets, and if they had their way, we'd go back to the "earthier" sounds/tones that comes from LPs (vinyl)

But they come in 2nd to the Stones.

Rock Steady 04-24-2006 02:28 AM

garbage

how did shirley manson get left out?

TiddyBaby 04-24-2006 04:00 AM

I don't know, but I sure like Shirley Mansons' see-through top, fishnet hose, and red hair. I need her for a solo job.

TiddyBaby 04-24-2006 05:58 AM

(i didn't post the pic because its too large, and i'm too lazy to re-size it)

Undertoad 04-24-2006 07:10 AM

Stones roll on

Velvet Underground (6)
vs
Santana (14)

http://cellar.org/fieldof64/64.php?field=bands

Cyclefrance 04-24-2006 07:27 AM

Carlos for me - it's an age thing:

Santana

Ibby 04-24-2006 07:30 AM

Velvet Underground, if not David Bowie then I'll have to settle for Lou Reed.

Beestie 04-24-2006 08:13 AM

Santana.

Carlos is smooth.

TiddyBaby 04-24-2006 08:23 AM

Santana for me, that kid drummer he had in original woodstock blew me away.

Undertoad 04-24-2006 08:27 AM

Santana it is

Duran Duran (7)
vs
Yes (2)

http://cellar.org/fieldof64/64.php?field=bands

glatt 04-24-2006 08:40 AM

Yes, and not just for the album cover artwork.

Ibby 04-24-2006 08:46 AM

Si!

(Yes)

TiddyBaby 04-24-2006 08:49 AM

Oui!

(Si!)

*yes*

Undertoad 04-24-2006 08:51 AM

The affirmative is victorious.

Greatful Dead (1)
vs
Tom Petty & Heartbreakers (8)

http://cellar.org/fieldof64/64.php?field=bands

glatt 04-24-2006 09:15 AM

This one is hard. They are both so good.

But I'll have to vote for the Dead

skysidhe 04-24-2006 09:44 AM

Yeah Santana!

Yes ( but but blows kisses to Duran)

Tom Petty ! ( come on....so singable)

Elspode 04-24-2006 09:49 AM

I actually *prefer* Petty, but I am voting for the Dead out of respect for the sheer enormity of their cultural significance.

barefoot serpent 04-24-2006 10:01 AM

Greatful Dead

Dead live on. (Sorry to keep saying that.) Close... the last shots go in, but are not buzzer-beaters.

Lynyrd Skynyrd (12)

SKYNYRD

glatt 04-24-2006 12:32 PM

Ever see the movie Duets? It's not a great movie, but Andre Braugher sings an amazing version of Freebird.

Flint 04-24-2006 12:37 PM

God almighty, the Dead versus Petty is a tough call. I can't help thinking something like Wildflowers versus Terrapin Station (Side Two) . . . impossible to determine. Both are desert island albums.

Undertoad 04-24-2006 01:07 PM

Lynyrd Skynyrd wins

Moody Blues (11)
