There are two main things I remember about "Twilight" - a hundred-year-old guy stalking a high school girl, and lots of hair.

Between those, I'd say the hair thing is much more appropriate as a commercial tie-in.

HoverGlide – The World’s First Floating Backpack

Color me skeptical.

How much weight does it add to a standard pack? How much further away from your body is the weight of the pack now going to be, throwing you off balance? How often do you run and do jumping jacks with a pack on? What happens when you lean forward to crawl under a downed tree?

I'll wait until some actual backpackers buy the thing, hike a few days with it, and report back.

I can see it reducing sudden impacts, like when walking on a rough trail, but they would, as I understand it, become oscillations, which might be annoying.

But perhaps if you train yourself to anticipate and counter them it would be less fatiguing than the jolts.

Ya learned to use the old ones dintchya?:eyebrow:

Eagle Scout here. But that was back in the mid 90's when the external frame packs were just starting to go out of style, so I don't know how much the non-Hoverglide technology has improved in the last 25 years or so.

As someone who handcrafts things, I gotta stick up for them. Either they have a remarkable on-the-fly automation system, the development costs of which they need to pay off, or they're putting a fair bit of work into each item sold.

Or both.

Gravdigr 02-01-2019 02:12 PM

Oh, they're cool.

Your isododecahedronal manufacturements are cooler. But I ain't paying $200 for one of those either.:p:

xoxoxoBruce 02-01-2019 02:28 PM

Right, a hell of a lot of beautiful work just out of my league. :yesnod:
