BBC quiz - Can you tell a wildcat from a pet moggy?

Gravdigr 09-01-2016 01:11 PM

Without looking at the quiz, No, you cannot.

Gravdigr 09-01-2016 01:12 PM

Too much scrolling. Do not want.

glatt 09-01-2016 01:33 PM

Those multiple page links are almost as bad as Pintrest. The bane of the internet.

xoxoxoBruce 09-01-2016 02:47 PM

What are you talking about links?
Go to the linked page, scroll down the 16 cats and the answers below.

The States of Matter Quiz

I got 7 outta 10. Missed 1, 5, & 10...cause I'm a damned idjit.

xoxoxoBruce 10-04-2016 03:03 PM

Fucked up link

Gravdigr 10-04-2016 04:11 PM

Works for me. You are talking about the link in my post?

xoxoxoBruce 10-04-2016 05:55 PM

Yes, goes to review or graded?

Gravdigr 10-05-2016 01:28 PM

Click either one and take the quiz.

I took 'graded', it waits til the end to tell you what you missed, the 'review' tells you immediately if you're right or wrong. Same quiz, same questions.

Sorry for the confusion.

fargon 10-06-2016 06:40 AM

Try this one: http://offbeat.topix.com/quiz/17296?...5PQCO7SG9RQKVB
I got 80%.

glatt 10-06-2016 07:47 AM

I got "congratulations, you have 20 questions left, don't quit now."

Apparently, I don't have a long enough attention span.

"Brat" is not pronounced with a long a (ay) sound.

Dumbasses.

It does up here.

Clodfobble 10-06-2016 05:32 PM

When pronounced with the long A, though, it is really more of an "ay-yuh," thus making "brat" two syllables.

lumberjim 10-06-2016 07:26 PM

They called Biff, Bee-olff.

Glatt, I gave up on it too.
But then my answers were based on reading books by American authors and a little guesswork, so it wouldn't have been a real result.

You guys say 'brate'? Rhymes with rate?

You guys eat 'brate'-wurst?

I've never heard it said any way other than 'braht'. Rhymes with rot.

'Braht'-wurst.

Clodfobble 10-07-2016 04:58 PM

It's not short for bratwurst, though, it's like "C'mere, you little bray-ut!"

lumberjim 10-07-2016 05:27 PM

In the quiz, they mention bratwurst. But it's like hat, not hate.

captainhook455 10-07-2016 05:56 PM

I got ya all beat. Down here in NC its a sausage dog.

I got 96% right.

Clodfobble 10-23-2016 10:18 PM

I was born in 1980 and I got all of them right until I got tired of it. Their quizzes are too long.

They are just hoping you don't have ad blocker and just keep clicking through getting served up ads.

classicman 10-24-2016 11:49 AM

That got boring pretty quickly... too easy. Guess I'm a fossil.

Undertoad 10-24-2016 02:25 PM

I'm tempted by Magnavox Odyssey.

I got that one right by process of elimination, but WTF is that thing?

monster 10-24-2016 03:39 PM

Brat almost rhymes with fart round here :/

Undertoad 10-24-2016 04:58 PM

Magnavox Odyssey holds a special place in gaming history, as one of the earliest game consoles. From the 70s!

It connected to your TV but didn't have the graphics capability to do color, so there were film overlays, in 13" 19" and 25" sizes. The B&W graphics showed through the film and it was... colorful but not really.

glatt 10-24-2016 05:11 PM

Did you ever see one on person at the time?

Atari was my first.

Undertoad 10-24-2016 06:05 PM

The Odyssey was my first console and kind of led me down my future path

goddammit

How the fuck are you supposed to find Kansas when there are no state outlines? I was close. I clicked on Nebraska. Does Kansas come first for everyone?

Missouri was first for me, then Minnesota.

Attachment 58367

The first few are tougher because you have no reference point with which to work. Not to mention the time factor...

Gravdigr 11-01-2016 10:30 AM

I always had trouble with New England in school. Couldn't keep those tiny, little places separated in my mind.

fargon 11-01-2016 10:36 AM

I got 88%. And it is harder at the beginning.

Missouri is another very difficult one to come first.

But Minnesota is a border state. C'mon, Grav. ;)

Click on "next" until you get one like Maine or Florida, and go from there

Gravdigr 11-06-2016 12:35 PM

Everyday Objects In Macro

I didn't count them, but I got most of them before the zoom out.

How many of these items can you identify before the zoom out?

Of course, especially here, bigger is definitely better.

xoxoxoBruce 11-06-2016 01:36 PM

That was cool. Some were ridiculously easy, some I didn't have a clue. I suppose other people felt the same way, but with different ones than me.

Clodfobble 11-06-2016 08:23 PM

That key didn't look like any kind of key I've ever seen.

I can't remember what I thought the bottle cap was, but, I was wrong on that one.
