Yes, this is an ad for scented dirt. Appropriate, I suppose...

We've had below freezing temps lately and now light rains.
I came across this (skeleton) hydrangea leaf. I've not come across one occurring naturally. |

That's cool. Reminds me of those leaf ornaments you see in fancy museum shops. I always wonder how they make those. If you pour molten metal over a leaf, it's gonna burn up. And you can't, as far as I know, electroplate anything that's not metal.

Ooops. Wrong thread.
I thought I clicked into the "Neat pictures..." thread Oh well, maybe this too will pass |
Same as the chrome plastic trim in cars.
|
Basically spray paint?
|
Do they claim there's a leaf in there? If not, it could just be molded. A complicated mold, but who'd notice if they missed a bit here and there?
|
I guess Google is your friend. I answered my own question by spending 5 seconds looking. Yes, they are real leaves.
"These real leaves, cones, and acorns are hand picked from selected trees and are chosen for the most pleasing shape. The leaves are treated with a wash to make them filigree, brushed with a layer of metallic copper, then electroplated with 18K gold, 24K gold or sterling silver." |
