I was hunting on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. The lodge is at 8,000 feet and we would go up to 11,000 at times to hunt. Hunting is done safari style - drive to high points, glass for elk, and then do a stalk. Pics of terrain and second elk in the truck to give an idea of the size. BTW, because I didn't get a bull, they let me take 2 cows. I highly recommend hunting the reservations because they set their own seasons, you don't have to deal with the state draw, and they manage for quality/size.

Another photo showing how the Noslers destroyed the lungs. I'm really impressed with their performance, but they aren't as accurate as Powershok or Fusions

We use venison in place of beef for almost everything. Saves on money and it is good for my cholesterol. I have my fingers crossed for free range oryx or nilgai this year to add some antelope. |
Lot of good eating there.
My uncle had a fishing boat in Alaska. The day before he came back to MA for Christmas he took a fresh caught gutted Halibut off the dock, packed it with dry ice in a plywood box on his roof rack, and it was still frozen solid when he got home 6 days later. Dry ice makes it safe to transport meat/fish anywhere. |
Good to see you Sarge. How many pounds of meat did you finish with?
