Yeah, I knew it would be easy. It's the interior of a kayak, close relative of the canoe.

This specimen was found at the Native American Museum on my lunch hour. It's the boat on the upper left in this picture.

I've heard the term baidarka used for that construction style. I don't see the classic split bow treatment I've seen on the other baidarkas. Here are a couple pics from the last one I saw in person.

They're *very* lightweight, and they flex. These are good qualities, but I think it would be scary to paddle. I feel like I'd put my foot right through it.
