Well?

Beestie 04-02-2009 09:46 PM

Ouch. No.

Oooouuuuuuch. Still no.

wolf 04-02-2009 09:56 PM

I wore contacts for a couple years. After the first few times it's a piece of cake, really.

monster 04-02-2009 10:23 PM

put contacts in? Sure. how the hell else would I see?

Touch my eyeball without a contact between it and my finger ...well I can, but it's generally not a pleasant sensation, so I don't.

lumberjim 04-02-2009 11:11 PM

ack!

I am scared to try touching my eyeball.....

can you bend just the first knuckle?

Juniper 04-02-2009 11:24 PM

Touch my eyeball? No problem.
I can do the knuckle thing, but not as good as my daughter.
Can you wiggle your ears? I can. Without touching them, that is. :)

monster 04-02-2009 11:28 PM

The first knuckle thing is related to wanking, tha knows......

Aliantha 04-03-2009 03:16 AM

I can do the eyeball thing and the knuckle thing.

Can you bend your thumb back so the top joint forms a 90 degree angle?

I can. (picture later if anyone wants to see)

sweetwater 04-03-2009 06:17 AM

I can touch my eyeball, wiggle my ears (even one at a time, woohoo!), do the Vulcan hand thing, and simultaneously write in reverse & upside down. Even write with both hands at the same time so that the script converges in a mirror-image way, but only with the same word(s). There is no known market for any of my special talents, though. *sigh*

Pie 04-03-2009 07:59 AM

I can do the finger thing and touch my eyeball.
Can you roll your tongue? Turn it sideways? Or make a 3-leaf clover out of it? Or make it really 'fat'? :eyebrow:

ETA: there is a market for my talents, wink wink nudge nudge.

Juniper 04-03-2009 09:41 AM

Pie! My daughter can do the tongue thing. When ever she demonstrates, I have to remind myself that she is only 13 and has no idea what kind of comments she will be opening herself to pretty soon, if she continues.

I can do the writing backward thing too, with my left hand. I demonstrated this for my son just two nights ago after we were using his mini-whiteboard to practice math. I wrote something, he gave me a funny look and I told him to go check it in the mirror. :)

There used to be a TV weather guy who wrote things backwards as he stood behind a glass panel with the map on it; I always thought that was pretty nifty.

dar512 04-03-2009 10:03 AM

Touch my eyeball - yes.
One knuckle only - yes.
Hitchhiker thumb - yes.
Tongue roll etc. - yes - though I can't roll my R's.
Can't do the ears or the backward writing.

But I can wiggle my nose. I wiggled it during our wedding vows trying to make Mrs. Dar crack up, but she managed to resist.

Shawnee123 04-03-2009 10:30 AM

I can touch my eyeball. I can't do the knuckle thing but I can form a star trek V but curl the two fingers in the middle around my pointer and pinkie, without assistance from the other hand(s)

I can roll my tongue, fold it over, and under....but could never trill my r's.

I can stand on my toes, if I don't have shoes on. Actually they fold under and I stand on them, not on point.

I'm talentless.

kerosene 04-03-2009 01:09 PM

Yes to the knuckle thing, hitchikers thumb and the eyeball thing. The only fancy thing I can do with my tongue is tie a cherry stem in a knot. But that is even with the help of my teeth. I can write backwards, too.

Shawnee123 04-03-2009 01:14 PM

I can read upside down and backwards.

wolf 04-03-2009 01:33 PM

Can't do any of the knuckle or individual finger things, can do the Vulcan Salute, can cross the fingers without assistance of the other hand, can roll tongue. Can't dance. I'm not as bad as Elaine, but I can't dance. I'm mighty white when it comes to dancing and basketball.

Happy Monkey 04-03-2009 01:41 PM

I can make my index fingers undulate like a cartoon charmed snake.

Pie 04-03-2009 01:47 PM

I can crack my ankle. Just the right one.

One of my college friends could do that. He would randomly walk up to people and announce, "There is magic in the Earth, and it goes 'wriggle, wriggle, wriggle.'" The proper accent is somewhat like that of Tim the Enchanter.

He would start the finger waving at the first 'wriggle' and continue throughout, punctuating each 'wriggle' with a fresh wave.

It describes somewhat clumsily, but it was fairly cool. Strange to have it done to you. He was a class-A geek (now has a doctorate in computer science) and knew better than to try to pull that gag on P.E. Majors. It went over great with the rest of us in the Honors Program.

I can do amazing squats (according to my trainer), standing, with arms straight up over my head, to full squat with butt almost touching the ground and right back up.

Yeah, I'll bet that's "amazing" when he's right behind you, "observing your form" ...

I just recently started putting a plate under my heels, for stability, when squatting. And high reps (torture!). Squats are the king of all exercises.

Pie 04-03-2009 02:26 PM

How do you do them without your knees breaking? Mine always feel like they're about to shatter like a dropped vase.

Flint 04-03-2009 02:27 PM

Tell your sissy knees to stop whining? I don't know. These days my workouts are arranged around what's least injured.

I can pop my toes without touching them. And I can make my ankles make gross grinding noises, but that isn't the same as popping them. :)

By Hugh Gallagher:

3A. ESSAY: IN ORDER FOR THE ADMISSIONS STAFF OF OUR COLLEGE TO GET TO KNOW YOU, THE APPLICANT, BETTER, WE ASK THAT YOU ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
ARE THERE ANY SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD, OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS YOU HAVE REALIZED, THAT HAVE HELPED TO DEFINE YOU AS A PERSON?
I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row.
I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.
Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.
I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat 400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me.
I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations for the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. The laws of physics do not apply to me.
I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prizewinning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis.
But I have not yet gone to college.

The sleeping in the chair bit is accurate. Our call room has a bed that sucks big time. So we bought a recliner. I have been using it as a bed for two years.

Shawnee123 04-06-2009 11:53 AM

I can sleep on a big rock.

TheMercenary 04-06-2009 12:24 PM

When I was in my 20's and 30's I could too, no problem. Now I have to many aching joints painful bits.

Shawnee123 04-06-2009 12:57 PM

(Won't mention excruciating hip pain if I sleep on an air mattress.) ;)

Wonder why that is? I do better on the ground than on an air mattress.

Sundae 04-07-2009 09:50 AM

I can touch my eye (again - years of contacts).
I can do the one knuckle bend on all fingers, though it looks weirdest and most broken on my index finger.
I have over-extended joints, so I can bend my thumbs and fingers way back.

I can also crack my neck and back, wrists, elbows, knees and ankles without touching them. Although the most satisfying neck crack is hand assisted.

I can't roll my tongue or touch the tip of my nose with it, but I can tie a knot in a cherry stalk. However the sexiest way to do that is to hide it up in your cheek first and only pretend to put the straight one in. Then you can maintain eye contact throughout and only make minimal mouth movements. Doing it for real can make you look like you have something stuck in your teeth. And if you cheat, so what? It's an advert for a blow job and I doubt any guy is going to call Trading Standards ;)
