Via 20 Minutos "24 horas en fotos" we have this item which reads Ayer esclavas del sexo, hoy felices novias. Seis taiwanesas, que fueron obligadas por el ejército nipón a convertirse en "esclavas del sexo" durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se ponen el traje de boda por primera vez en su vida. Grupos femeninos de apoyo les organizaron a una falsa boda que incluía vestidos de novia, flores y hasta una ceremonia.

These women are Taiwanese. During World War II, they were forced by the Japanese to be sex slaves. After which, I suppose, they became outcasts of a sort, never to be married. Never wore a wedding gown, so the caption says.

So a women's support group has put together a sorta-wedding ceremony with the gowns and the flowers and all. It doesn't say anything about why, or whether this is personally fulfilling to them. I would want to show them every level of humanity to make up for the inhumanity. They do seem to be happy about it (at least 4 out of 6).

I was thinking about saying Asian sex slave brides, but there was a limit to my decency and besides, can you imagine the inbound links we would get.

I'm guessing the brides won't be enjoying their simulated honeymoon at <a href="http://cellar.org/showthread.php?t=10447">Kanamara Matsuri</a>.
