7/7/2006: Mouse on frog

http://cellar.org/2006/mousefrog.jpg

Happy Friday. This appealing shot has been on Yahoo!'s Most Popular for a while, easy to see why. This mouse is hitching a ride on this frog because they are both in flood waters in Lucknow, India.

A real life Battle-toad. Sweet.

Trilby 07-07-2006 08:50 AM

For some reason that pic reminds me of a Disney movie...

any port in a storm.

Any wart in a storm.

I almost sent this one to you, UT, but I figured it was so overwhelmingly the next Friday IOTD that I knew I would be one of dozens who did so.

Note to any forum lurkers: unlike 'Undertoad', the handle 'Overmouse' is still available.

Overmouse 07-07-2006 01:26 PM

No it's not.

BigV 07-07-2006 02:01 PM

Shouldn't that be Overtoad and Undermouse? Unless my monitor is upside down again...

Highriskgeo 07-07-2006 02:03 PM

I don't know. The original image came from an India paper. Sometimes I think that fraud via humor is a rich and decadent media thing and not a poor media occurence. I am probably wrong. * shrug*

I'm reminded of a folktale regarding a scorpion and some kind of animal capable of swimming ...

milkfish 07-08-2006 06:16 AM

If someone's faking this, please ask them to do one with a squirrel on the back of a moose.

I believe it's a tale about a scorpion and a wolf. The scorpion asks a wolf to take him across a river on his back. The wolf is reluctant at first but the scorpion convinces the wolf that he won't sting him because they would both die. Sure enough, halfway across the scorpion does sting him. As they both sink the wolf asks the scorpion why he did that and scorpion relpys 'I couldn't help myself. it's my nature.'

Ok, I'll say it.
Wouldn't they be tasty wrapped together in a tortilla, with some mango salsa, sour cream, and shredded monterrey jack? That would be after you shave the little rodent, of course.

It doesn't seem like they're having much Lucknow, does it?

And are you sure the mouse isn't just getting some froggy sex on the sly?

LOL, which is why I didn't make that post last night. As soon as I read Wolf's post, the VGR ep popped in my head. I wanted to go all Chakotay and quote him... :D
