Family Trip to Sea World
 

We have passes, but it was our first time taking our 3-yr-old. Had a good time, except for the usual problems with the way people treat those in a wheelchair and my staying for too long and over-doing it.
I would suggest selecting the View All option.
Early in the pics are some of us having "Dinner with Shamu" a very cool experience. My son loves sea life and can name many fish, whales and most common sharks.

I know it was fun but grueling on you, but worth it huh? Memories like that are precious.

Thanks... it was two days & he did sleep pretty hard for a few hours. He does not sleep much, gets that from me.
I may do a thread about my experiences, it is still pretty fresh though & painful. Some little things like a disabled room being smaller, not on the outside of the complex and $30-60 a night more to not being able to see some of the things with my son because people would not let me in line... it was pretty much constant.

He is a cutie! The "big dude, little dude" shirts are a riot. How fun.

Some of those Shamu handlers are HAWT!

That sucks and makes me wonder if it's legal, considering the Americans With Disabilities Act?
That said, I wonder if they see you as an inconvenience for them or possibly a potential lawsuit if they don't keep you from doing something that might injure yourself? They can't guess your ability level.
I really don't want to defend them, just trying to understand their corporate logic. Hmmm...that's an oxymoron, isn't it. :smack:

Yeah, they keep a pretty good hand on crowd control. A friend went to Epcot, in a chair, with his kids and grandkids. Something like 11 or 12 people all together and because he was in a chair the whole entourage was ushered to the front of the line....everytime.

I'm not sure that is fair either, at least to the people waiting in line for hours.
Seems to me, chair bound people should be treated equally, but I'm not sure what's fair to everyone. :confused:

It would be if people in chairs were treated fairly in line.

OK, you're not taking about a few people repeatedly cutting in line but a lot of people cutting in line once...at least per attraction/line.

I'm having trouble getting the picture, Man...help me out or tell me to drop it if you don't want to persue it, ok.

I really don't want to be insensitive..... I can tell it's a painfull subject......but shit, man, if we, the public, are being dicks because we're too dense to see there's a problem, this is a chance to clue us in.

Everywhere I went someone got in front of me, cut me off, ran into me (which is painful), etc, etc, etc. When I said "excuse me" the common response was to look at me and then turn back around.
What I meant by continue to get in front of me was one family would, then another then another, the line moves ahead in front of me, I stay in one place.
Someone assigned to me to help me with a buffet just walked away while I was turned away, before I even got to the food.
Now, I really don't think I want to talk about this for a bit. (at least tonight)

I think you are saying you are invisible, and that sucks! I know other minorities who have expressed that as well, including an old friend.

It's hard to speak up and bitch because then there is tension. You'd have to get their attention in a eye lock and get them to appreciate that they are taking advantage and being unfair, (tempting to say more but better not to). Try to reach them with reason, although I don't have to tell you....you are living this.

If I was there, and I was in line with you, I'd be sticking up for you!

This happens a lot in my area - and I tend to speak out for others and for myself. Unfortunately - being in California - there is sometimes a language barrier.

That is so f'ed up. Why do people suck?

I'm not surprised some people would do that. I am surprised that a lot/most/all, of the people would do that.
Hopefully some of them saw others doing it and assumed you were cool with it.

You know, the same way they walk and drive....oblivious. :(
