I'm in a bad mood this morning.

I'm tired. I have run out of money before I ran out of month. I'm hungry. I have a plate full of broken systems here at work and all my first and second (some even more) tries failed to fix it. Cut off in traffic driving in. More bickering at home. College monie$ due. Did I mention I'm tired? I'm PISSED OFF about the news from Washington, and how our craven, self serving Congress continues to f*ck it up. GWB continues out of control. My mailfile is oversized and I need to find a new place for the archives. I have a meeting with my boss this morning, and I'm not prepared. The dvds we rented are overdue. I'm overdrawn.

I need to go back to bed or count my blessings.

A Cheery Song For You Guys

Hey Griff and BigV, here's a nice little song that may cheer you up.

I have a full-time job, and full time classes as well. I was rear-ended (car not me) in May and have whiplash. I was totalled a couple of Fridays ago and now my whiplash is irritated and I have no car to get to work and school and to the various other things I need to do. I have a paper due in 10 min and I still have to write two pages...think I'm gonna make it? Me neither. My settlement check hasn't arrived from my rear-ending, the brand new computer I just to buy is making a funky noise, and the police report I waited 10 days and paid $4 for contained absolutely no helpful information about my most recent wreck...I could continue but I think your situation is worse because atleast I'm fairly happy and rested.

Griff 09-29-2006 10:57 AM

a little cheer up V

Heh, it wasn't me, I only tap rearends ;) Here's my contribution to you 2, if you haven't already seen it. Pick-me-ups. It's my entire feel good thread after I was a rearend-er last week.

BigV, when you have a chance, go outside and take several deep breaths of clean crisp fall air. Like the seasons, this series of lows will pass and before you know it you'll be looking back saying, whew, glad that's over. The cellar is here rootin for you.

*Huge Hug*

That sounds awful BigV. I hope things improve swiftly for you! Whenever I need a pick me I always go to www.cuteoverload.com or www.mycathatesyou.com Maybe one of those will get your mind off your troubles. Good luck with everything! Good vibes are coming your way!!!

And Labrat, I hope you are feeling better after your mishap. I am rooting for you too!! :o

footfootfoot 09-29-2006 01:23 PM

BigV, I know the feeling all too well, Forget gwb and the shenanigans of his pals. Giving them more than a moment's thought is wasted energy and it isn't putting food on the table or sleep behind your eyes. It's not even a worthwhile hobby.

I don't know anything about computers, but most things reach a point where they can't be fixed. "If you hadn't wasted your money on this cheap ass crap system, you wouldn't have this problem now would you?" Is often a useful phrase in meetings with the boss. (Assuming you didn't recommend said system, in which case it's "fucking bill gates..."

Here is a poem by Phyllis McGinley (I think)

A suit of sheep's clothing I bought at the store
To give to the wolf who lives at my door.

(ps) give that cd a few listens, it may not make you financially successful , but it will cheer you up.

Wise, very wise. I spent a longish lunch wandering along the local greenbelt. Lovely. Got lost. Intentionally. Sweated and hustled along the streets back to the car. Gratefully. Tempered the beauty of the walk by listening to Rajiv Chandrasakaran -- 'Imperial Life in the Emerald City'. Regretfully. Bought an armful of dahlias for MrsV. Peacefully.

Youse guys rock.

There should be enough laughs here to keep you going for a while. Check out all the links too.

Don't give into it.

Well, I hope everyone is feeling better. I had a bad day, too. I took my kitty, Rikki into the vet for his feline leukemia shot (FL is like kitty AIDS, for those of you not familiar with it.) Only cats get it, but it affects them just like AIDS does human beings. There is no cure, but there is a vaccine which prevents it. Well, before they gave him the vaccine, they tested him for the disease. The test came back positive. The vet said that Rikki probably got it from his mother - some cats are carriers and show no symptons, but asymptomatic mother cats can pass it on to their kittens. Rikki would have just got sicker and sicker and died a slow, painful death and might have infected other cats with it, as well. I told the vet to euthanize him then and there - to just get it over with. Rikki died in my arms and I cried and cried. They gave me his body, and I drove him out to the National Forest to a pretty area and laid him down under a beautiful golden oak. I scattered leaves over his body, and told him that he had become a wild thing now. Then I left him for the coyotes and ravens. Now, everytime I see a coyote or a raven or the like, I can imagine a bit of Rikki still living on in them. It was a sad day. I lost a good little friend.:(

I felt the same way. I DID go back to bed. Felt much better waking up a 11:30! Hope you regenerate over the weekend.

Hey! I'm overdrawn, too!

Hope things get better soon, BigV. I like the part about counting your blessings. That always helps.

Sorry about Rikki, Mari. Nice job on completing the circle of life.

I'll second that... dust to dust. Pets are so fleeting. :(

Yes, they are. At one point I decided I wasn't going to get another animal ever again because it broke my heart so much when I lost one. Then a little boy gave me a kitten he found, and I couldn't resist. Poor Rikki was with me only a year. The cat I had before him was killed by the ax murderer after I'd had that cat for 5 years. The cat BEFORE that lived to be 20. I'm going to get another cat, eventually, and maybe I'll get to keep it for 20 years, too. You can avoid the sorrow, but that also means you avoid the companionship and pleasure that pets give. Its just life (and death).
