What sounds good for breakfast/brunch?
My choices are:
Pancakes with maple syrup Brioche french toast with strawberries Cheddar omelet Chef's choice frittata (not sure what that is) |
go for the French toast, and ask for maple syrup along with the strawberries.
I want waffles, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to settle for cereal. |
bluecuracao, you're making me hungry...
... and him!:thumb2: http://img.citypages.com/blogmedia/c...n/pancakes.jpg |
Brioche french toast with strawberries <<<< whats that??? I know what French Toast is, but mine always tasted funky.
I had a boiled egg, tomatoes on toast and some bacon!! |
I had some nice bakery bread with blood orange marmalade. If you can get it you should. It's very nice.
|
Blood . Indeed . Remember the blood when you are eating your 'nice bakery bread' .
|
go away. lol

I did go with the french toast with strawberries and maple syrup, YUM. DuckNuts, brioche is very eggy, pastry-like bread. So, if you make french toast out of it, you basically egg yourself to death...but it's a wonderful death. |
Oh so there goes my cholesterol?
|
leftovers... chili con carne with shredded cheddar, and some chocolate pudding. Coffee, of course.
|
one of my faves is to slice brioche and then instead of making french toast, put it into the waffle iron. yum!
|
That's a great idea! I think I'll have that tomorrow morning. My niece gave me a Mickey Mouse waffle iron last Christmas, and I still need to break it in.
|
Haven't been able to try the waffle-ized brioche yet--the bakery has been selling out before I get there. :(
|
The inchling has requested bacon for tomorrow's breakfast. He actually requested "bacon now" when we were discussing breakfast. He caught on to the difference between "now" and "tomorrow" pretty quickly and is not easily put off any longer.
So bacon with hash browns and eggs. Coffee for me and "big juice" for him. Big juice is our own Orwellian term meaning a tad of juice and a bunch of water. He prefers it because it is BIG. How much longer this will last... |

I just realized, that's also the traditional Catholic breakfast.
On a more delicious note, I noticed yesterday that a nearby gourmet spot has omelets with gruyere and sundried tomatoes. I'm having that today. |
spencer requested an egg burrito with jelly this morning. i think i made this once about a year ago for him...guess he liked it
ripley wants her eggs hard boiled. |
with jelly?? like what we can *jam*?? sweet spread made out of various fruits?
|
yeah. grape. i put cream cheese in too. it was fantfriggintastic. you should try it.
|
I would have no clue where to even start with making a breakfast burrito...but it sounds yummy.
|
Generally a filling of scrambled egg, a little potato diced or shredded in the fashion of hash browns, some sausage. Maybe bacon as well. Seasonings to suit, anything up to hot salsa. The whole clad in a flour tortilla.
|
that sounds good. this was a simple affair, tho. just butter and grill a tortilla, blop a bit of cream cheese in there, 2 scrambled eggs, and a thin line of grape jelly. roll it up, and tuck in. glurg.
|
Dad food !!!
|
Ducks...don't you get breaky wraps at Hungry Jacks down there?
|
Dont think so Ali?? I have never seen them open for breakie.
I'm gonna make them for tea though :) Last nite I made QP and they were yummo, so I have some leftover wrap thingies. |
Ah well maybe they don't open down there for breaky. They've only been doing it up here for a year or so...maybe a bit less. They're pretty much the same as a bacon and egg mcmuffin only wrapped up in lavash instead of on a muffin.
|
|
Ohhh, I had sonic whilst I was over there. Weird experience.
|
corn tortilla, swiss cheese, ham, egg with Franks Red Hot.

What?! What are you people DOING with brioche?? Surely it's enough just to toast its buttery, crummy, sweet briochitty? Toasted brioche, unsalted butter, cup of tea. Haven't had it in years (I'd eat the whole loaf so I don't let myself buy it) but my mouth is watering right now. |
Almost anything is made better by the addition of more fat and syrup.
|
Well - by the addition of cheese & jalapenos. But not brioche, never brioche.
Can I respectfully ask that if anyone puts peanut butter on brioche, that they don't post it here :worried: |
Brioche, Thai-style? Drizzled with peppery peanut sauce?

Hmmmm...maybe this should be going in the bad habits thread... |

But I'd still prefer raiding the kitchen & rescuing the brioche first... |
Sundae Girl, don't read this!!!
Natural, crunchy peanut butter and strawberry preserves, on two thick slices of brioche, is one of the best PB&J's ever. |
That sounds darn good, but I'd like to try it with damson plum jam.
|
I NEED to find some of this brioche stuff
