I am amazed by the skills of some people here

Hi, Guys...!!!

I am new on your site and I am amazed by the skills of some people here...
not too sure if this is the right place to be posting this msg

Let me introduce myself first :

I am Yann, a webmaster and dive instructor, 27 years old.

i have many questions about music, web , PC and education...

Where i can post my messages...

So, thanks a lot!

Clodfobble 11-23-2006 08:28 PM

...Why not post them right here in this thread?

CaliforniaMama 11-24-2006 12:40 AM

Hi Yann~

Come, wander these hallowed threads and see where it takes you~

It's definitely an interesting journey!

Undertoad 11-24-2006 12:56 AM

Since this post is in "Entertainment" and has the dreaded "post" icon, 99.9% chance it is pre-spam.

wolf 11-24-2006 01:26 AM

How much scarier is it that his originating host is barak-online?

NoBoxes 11-24-2006 04:11 AM

That depends wolf, it's a global community in which people move around a lot. There are many Yanns in the world and a quick search turned up this one fitting the description of ours. If they are one and the same, he may simply be a prolific poster. If not, I'll go with UT's hunch that this is pre-spam. I suppose we could ask Yann if the following info represents him:

Divers web site Yann profile

Yann blog

This is just speculation mind you. If Yann isn't posting from Al Hadaba, Sharm El Sheikh, Sinaļ, Egypt [which may explain the barak-online hosting]; then, NEVERMIND. :D

DanaC 11-24-2006 10:30 AM

mmm.....what or who is barak-online?

Now, I know my skills at spotting trolls are legendarily poor, but this seemed loike a genuine post to me...

SteveDallas 11-24-2006 12:45 PM

Barak was an old-school Cellar (think 1991, 2400-baud dialup modems) user. He was a flaming black separatist (or at least he played one online) who was always ready (and willing and able) to turn any discussion into a racial one. (If anybody else who was around then thinks that characterization is unfair or incomplete, please, chime in.)

There is backstory regarding that name that you do not know, but which Steve has done an excellent job of relating.

Undertoad 11-24-2006 02:14 PM

barak-online is an Israeli internet provider.

I seem to recall he was a misogynist too...:-)

While I recognize that it's a legitimate provider, I still thought that the association was funny.

Dear Sirs, value the web-site, which has become my
navigator in online-investments recently.

This portal is all about information on hyip - "high yield investment programs", that
may help you significantly multiply your capital. The portal monitors all major players
of the market and publishes independent estimations.
Go! HYIP.com - Online Investment Monitoring Services

With Engrish like that, I'm betting my man is an investing savaunt.

Undertoad 11-25-2006 07:39 AM

I've turned on the "see deleted posts" option for everyone, and now if you look at the top of the Entertainment forum, you'll see why this is a spam thread, and how much work your moderators have actually been doing, perhaps without you realizing it.

I thought it was turned on for everyone, but it was turned on for moderators only.

Griff 11-25-2006 07:43 AM

Wow. You could feed Sudan with that.

DanaC 11-25-2006 07:44 AM

is it definately the same poster?

limey 11-25-2006 07:47 AM

I have seen an identical post on another board I frequent ...

DanaC 11-25-2006 07:58 AM

K reggie and brwuce (thats nemo style pronunciation) - now that we can all be seeing why you are deleting the spam....can you please be really creative with your reasons??

I see a few feeble attempts, but I really would like to see some wit in there? Thanks in Advance

PS...you all do an awesome job!! :D

You're seeing another board behind our backs?

Wow, I never knew you mods have to sift through all that spam. Good job...how annoying would it be for us users to have to sift through them looking for legit posts? :)

DanaC 11-29-2006 06:01 PM

I post on two other boards, and have the same name on both of them, but a different one here. I'm not quite sure why that is, but have been doing it for so long that confusion is not an issue.
