February 24, 2007: Massive sinkhole in Guatemala
http://cellar.org/2007/guatsinkhole.jpg
There's nothing like a big hole in the middle of your town, suddenly appearing and taking with it several residents. This sinkhole appeared yesterday; I saw it at Neatorama; the full story at MSNBC tells us this thing is 330 feet deep and has swallowed two residents and ten homes. Probably caused by faulty sewer/water lines. http://cellar.org/2007/guatsinkhole1.jpg Quote:

Dubbed by the locals "El Anus"
|
In that first image... imagine being that neighbor and opening that there door?
This is nothing compared to what's going to happen at the Oglala Reservoir... |
Welcome to the Cellar, Adam.
|
Just wait until the Martians start coming up.
|
Once again, I am seeing goatse.
|
You really should get those symptoms looked at, Seak.
|
Wow, it looks like some little boy got his wish of digging a hole to china...!

Just for the record, IANAGA (i am not a graphic artist). -gmr2048 |
I'm amazed it's so round and smooth. I'd expect a ragged, more jagged hole.
Or teeth like pie's worm hole. |

I don't get it... Where did the 60,000cubic yards of dirt go?!?!?
That's the same as 6,000 dump truck loads! That's like 10 loads a day for 2 years... That has to have gone somewhere... There should be some guy standing in his field wondering.. F**^ing gophers! |

My 5 year-old nephew is obsessed with this. He wanted me to take him to "Guammammala" to see it. I showed him the globe and said, "we live HERE and the hole is waaaaay down here!" He was unimpressed.
He said, "can we go today?" |
It swallowed 10 homes??? No way! Where would they have been? It's mostly swallowed road and vacant lot, plus a small corner of a building (about 8m by 2m by my estimate).

You're not a worm because you type, worms don't type. I doubt if you have any wormholes in you, because if you did, I'll bet you'd be seeking some medical help, rather than hanging in the Cellar. That said, it's your wormhole because you posted it. Jeez, that's one of the basic tenets of the Intarweb, "If you bring a wormhole on the net, it's your responsibility, not tech-attendants or baggage handlers. :haha: |
:o Okay, mea culpa. It's my worm. How does one de-worm a planet?
Or is it this sort of wormhole? http://www.vonseggen.com/gallery/sur...s/wormhole.jpg |

Hmmm.... Makes me think of Courtney Love, for several reasons.
It also reminds me that this Thursday is my BF and my anniversary. hehehe |

Now its not a meaningless question
To ask if theyve been and gone I remember a talk about north Carolina and a strange, strange pond You see the sides were like glass In the thick of a forest without a road And if any mans hands ever made that land Then I think it wouldve showed |

barefoot... Now that makes a helluva lot more sense to me... Then just a bad sewer.
|
That cavern could have been washing away for a long time before the roof caved in. The making of that cavern may of been what caused sewer problems not long before the cave in. It's amazing how much soil water can move in a short time. After all the Grand Canyon was carved out in just a couple years. :lol2:
|
After seeing that, I doubt I am going to use the phrase, "I wish the ground would open up a hole and let me jump in", when I am embarrassed again!
That is just...staggering! |

No those people were targeted!

Yeah, Che lives! :worried:
