The AMT
The Alternative Minimum Tax pisses me off. I don't know how many of you pay it, but I get hammered by it every year.

Get a new accountant.

There's no way around it? Damn, you give up easy. ;) I think you need to re-read my first reply. This time with feeling. If you are on here asking about end-runs to the AMT then you definitely need a new accountant since it is they who should be advising you how to escape the AMT instead of just delivering it as bad news over which neither of you has any control. BS. |

Bush will kick your ass, you anti-American, unpatriotic, tax dodger wannabe.

Meanwhile, those who created the AMT have little idea of what is in tax laws, and do not do their own taxes. First law - all lawmakers must do their own taxes and be subject to a tax review. Guess how quickly the tax law will eliminate tax accountants. Meanwhile, also spend money for tax software. Government made a deal with tax software companies. The government will not provide tax software. You are expected to pay another tax to tax software companies for their software, for submitting that tax form to the government, etc. because that was the deal offered to tax software companies. Can that Adobe software 1040 form total up your entries? Yes. But government is not allowed to because of this deal to protect tax software companies. |

Its not a conspiracy. What tw is referring to is called corruption.

Mercy, you are really starting to piss me off. I'll tell you why, since you're new around here. I've read your crap, and there's plenty of it, > 20 posts/day. At first I gave you the benefit of the doubt and I don't regret that because it gives me more confidence of my current position on your point-o-view. But the reason I'm getting more upset with you is because I feel I'm being forced to do something ... out of character for me. I may be ...forced to say something nice about... Urbane Guerrilla, and I am sure you have no idea how that galls me.
UG, who shares your in your face screw you style was at least literate. There. I said it. But, man, you're gonna have to step it up a notch to keep in the game here. Really. "lalalalalalalalalalalala" with your fingers in your ears, "neener neener ur a poopie head" just isn't going to cut it. You're out of your depth here, and somebody's gonna get hurt. Sure, it's all fun and games til somebody loses a spleen, but don't come crying "It's a Conspiracy!" to me. Jay-sus. tw's post is filled with truth (stop laughing, there is ample precedent for this). His opening sentence is completely correct. Our tax structure, taken as a whole is utterly opaque. That's a fundamental problem. It's such a problem that you have a need for an accountant, and even he's stumped. On the other hand, if you're really that flush, what the hell are you cryin about anyway? Don't you like being defended against TERRORISTS! BOO!? Don't you like driving, scuse me, being chauffeured about on nice roads? Or do you believe those kinds of governmental infrastructural obligations should be billed to somebody else? Beestie's right. Get another accountant. |
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities states that because households with annual incomes above $200,000 are the source of more than half of all AMT revenue, more than half of the benefits of repeal would go to high-income households.
Oh my god I feel your pain. How in the fuck do you live like that? Let me just give you a big hug; maybe your substantial money woes won't seem so bad.:nadkick: |
Big, why don't you tell us how you really feel? :D

Oh, just so you know, I have had about 40 beers, lick my dick. :D |
Neeener neeeener neeener,
ha ha ha on you. you coughed $2500, I got a refund too. So fucking what? What has that got to do with a damn thing. I got an $1800 refund, big fucking deal. What about the $17,000 they kept? |

Again he is using the wrong head. TheMercenary again demonstrates what is called 'big dic' thinking - complete with profanity to justify his conclusions. Repeated posted are actions TheMercenary regards as logical solutions. Curiously, TheMercenary is typically of George Jr supporters; people with contempt for the American soldier; who associate Fox with News. Those inspired by that head routinely use adjectives associated with the source of their motivation and political agendas. First two quoted sentences are his complete thought. Everything he posted afterward is redundant. A chain of profanity posted like a teenager in heat. |

How can one be contemptful for something that one is? Hmmmm...... :thankyou: |
TheMercenary is now sober enough to carefully filter his posts. Oh well. For a while, we got to see who he really is and what he really thinks.

Ah, Mercy, you take me right back...[nostalgia] to my introduction to the cellar. Here's my second post evar, and as you can see, as from the map, *I* pay for *your* roads. You're welcome.[/nostalgia] To your questions: 1 -- Yes, ipbuprophen (but only now, after considerable yardwork this weekend. I was unimpaired at the time of my post to which you replied.) 2 -- I paid my fair share of taxes. 3 -- I will have to speculate, since I have no experience as an adult as "ain't paying it". I don't consider paying taxes a pain. The process is painful, but the concept is not. Our country runs on taxes. You and I could have a disagreement about what level of taxes is appropriate, or we could have a discussion about what those taxes should be spent on. But if you're asking me if I find taxes painful, the answer is no. 4 -- This question was difficult to unpack. I think you're asking (actually, I don't think you're asking anything, I think you're just ranting, with a little question mark thingy at the end) is do I agree that the middle class want to shift more of the tax burden to the "uber-rich"? I think most folks do want to pay less, even if someone else has to pay more. I stand by my original statement. You're going to have to post more facts, more substance if you want to play here. If you just want to complain, go to the Relationship section or something. Over here, facts carry weight, not whining. Bonus points for not including any tinfoil in your reply though. Maybe there's hope for you. |
