Ice cream flavor
You like chocolate ice cream, and hate vanilla ice cream. You spouse likes vanilla ice cream, and hates chocolate ice cream.
Is your spouse: stupid foolish just has different taste opinions than you |
Is there some sort of... personal reason for this kind of question?
|
I don't hate vanilla...I just prefer chocolate. ;)
|
Stupid. Everyone knows chocolate is the best.
|
I'm down for both. But vanilla with chocolate topping, say, syrup? Oh yeah.
|
So you really can't answer this if you don't actually have a spouse now can you?
|
Vanilla Bean ftw
|
this is a verry [Brother where art thou]" Is you is , or is you aint " [/brother where art thou] kind of question .

You are stupid if your views differ from mine, everyone knows that. ;) |

Both are wrong. "Cake" is the only correct answer.

Is this a gun thread in ice cream clothing?

Chocolate. Ah, chocolate! Lethal, bold desire. There is nothing stopping you from enjoying the flavor, the excitement, but even adding a protective coating of Nestle's chocolate Shell isn't enough to get one to ignore that the ice cream probably contains too many nuts for your liking. Vanilla is a much safer choice and is clearly a favorite as well, but its flavor is easily overtaken by any ingredient imposed upon it -- the mere addition of a single, soft maraschino cherry completely overpowers it. Vanilla gives in, vanilla is weak. Now you know chocolate isn't good for you and who would want to be associated with those people, anyway? You know the kind. Vanilla is what gentle, sane people enjoy on a happy outing at the park. Families eat vanilla. Chocolate is what poor people from Detroit stock in their freezer... |

I'm a vanilla snob. I have a hard time eating any vanilla other than Breyers all natural. It used to be just like home made ice cream, but Breyers was bought out by Unilever, and now they mix guar gum and crap like that in with it. It's still the best, but it's gone down a few notches. I just discovered Breyers Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. I think it might be a new flavor. They take their vanilla ice cream, and throw in some chocolate chips and then mix in some raspberry syrup. It's really amazing how good it is. |
Spexx, we see right through you. ;)
Everyone's tastes are different. I respect your right to like things that I don't. I might make fun of you for it in private, but I have no real problem with your preferences. :) |
If neither of you can appreciate more than a single flavor of ice cream, you are both Philistines.
Currently, in my freezer I have: "Delta Blues" - vanilla ice cream with blueberries, blueberry syrup swirl, and little chunks of "pie crust" Mint Chocolate Chip Natural Bean Vanilla Bunuelos 'n' Cream - Cinnamon ice cream with chunks of bunuelos and caramel swirl. We go through ice cream pretty quickly around here. |
Where did you find the delta blues??????????? OMG that sounds awesome!!
We only have store brand plain vanilla right now, bought to put on the apple crisp I made earlier in the week (that I finished this morning for breakfast ). I really dislike chocolate ice cream, but love milk chocolate in all it's various forms. Go figure. Try good vanilla with dry hot chocolate mix on top (Swiss Miss or don't bother). :yum: |
It's a new seasonal flavor by Blue Bell (I don't know if you get them in the midwest or not, I think they're a primarily Southern company). It'll probably only be here for awhile, they do a lot of rotation. I keep hoping they'll bring back their cantaloupe seasonal flavor, that was the best ice cream I have ever had, period.

Pralines and Cream. Or Ben and Jerry's Heath Bar Crunch.
Chocolate. Vanilla. Scoff. |

If you try Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Bun ice cream...you're going to need larger pants soon. I can't get enough of the stuff...too bad it only comes in pints. |
I'm a personal fan of Moose Tracks and Elephant Tracks.
Mint and cookie dough are always good choices too. |
I was a HUGE fan of Edy's light Mint Cookies and Cream. As soon as I found it, they took it off the market. Have yet to find another mint cookies and cream.

or Rum Raisin. |
Too much ice cream talk, not enough ice cream action...looks like I'll have to stop at Franklin Fountain tonight.
|
Chocolate Moose Tracks is proof that the Gods love us.
|
The Mrs. and I both like homemade vanilla with fresh peaches. About the only thing she won't do is listen to Led Zeppelin with me, which makes her both foolish and stupid. Uh, wait a minute.....yeah babe?
:bolt: |

I think it's interesting who hasn't voted.

Ibby and P-hawk, were you joking?
|
No, I really wasn't. Liking chocolate and vanilla both is okay - but liking vanilla more than chocolate? A sin.
The exception, however... Bluebell. A nice scoop of plain vanilla Bluebell... heaven. |

A few years back, someone had blueberry cheese cake around. Great. No more. Crap.
|
That's the one, Bruce. Maybe we're in some sort of test market for it, I don't know. I've heard of/had all the other flavors on that list, so maybe the super-brand-new flavors don't get on it right away.
Edit: I don't see the awesome cantaloupe flavor anywhere on their website either. Heck, maybe for $90 I could figure out a way to ship some to you. |
Mint chocolate chip, cookie dough. Yum.
I never have had Cherry Garcia. |
Milk chocolate is my favorite but I also like to have vanilla with chocolate syrup mixed in.
|
Ah ha!!
If you go to their "Extra Scoops" and then "Latest Contests" links: Quote:

The only ice cream I consider worth eating is green tea. Chunky Monkey is a distant second, but I haven't had that in years.

Turkey Hill: Tin Roof Sundae. ok, what do I win?

I'll have to ask the Franklin boys if she's willing.
|
I just prefer chocolate, what about you?
|
Of course I believe everyone has a right to enjoy their own personal favourite, but I can't help feeling that Americans complicate their ice-creams too much. Not an allegorical statement - I've decided to take the question at face value ;)
Ben & Jerry's? Faugh. Always seems to have something in it that I don't like - usually some form of nuts or cake product. Or bananas, which everyone knows are the devil's favourite food. Probably not fair of me to make it a US issue - I find Pret a Manger (Brit sandwich shop) does the same - cucumber in just about everything for example, and I can't bear the stuff. Even if I don't taste it at the time I burp up the flavour all evening. My all time favourite would be a simple, plain, good quality vanilla. For fancy ice cream I'd have a Haagen Daaz Vanilla Chocolate Fudge (rich vanilla with seams of chocolate and fudge). And yes, I know they're American too :) |
C'mon! A bunch of you haven't voted.
|
Do we have enough flavors for a cellar field of 64 competition? I don't think it's been done yet with ice cream...correct me if I'm wrong though.
|
Cool Britannia (a discontinued Ben and Jerry's flavor) :(
|
The following have not voted. How do you think they would vote?

My wife and daughters turned me on to Coldstone Creamery, without a doubt the best stuff on the planet regardless of the mix you select. I prefer the caramel pecan whatever it's called.
|
we have an ice cream shop call Bruster's. not sure where they originate from - but yummy! everthing is made fresh (supposedly) i get the basic chocolate in a waffle cone:yum:
|
Im a vanillia eater but to tell the truth Ben and jerrys Chunky Monkey is my addiction
|
I'd really rather vote about the ice cream than about the spouse.

I generally prefer more 'rich' ice creams.. she likes fruitier (although rocky road being a main exception to her rule) than I do... mmmm... creamypeanutbutterychocolatey goodness.. then again I also like simple stuff like a real french vanilla.. coffee ice cream... hell! I'll put honey roasted peanut butter on regular ice cream and call it good.

Years ago I remember an article about an ice cream shop up in New Hope that made some of their flavors from flowers. I don't remember if it was rose, jasmine, or something else.
I bought dried hibiscus flowers to mix with my loose teas at work. I think that would make an interesting ice cream. |
The winning chef on this weeks Great British Menu made elderflower ice cream. Quite fancied it actually.
