Purge?

Well, look at the time. It's been fun here in the Cellar, it really has, but it's time to leave you all and say so long. I am backing slowly up the stairs, erasing my tracks as I go, and will close the door softly behind me. In this regard, I tried to delete my posts and close my account, but I can't figure out how to do that.

Can anyone tell me, at the least, how to delete my Cellar account?

Undertoad 05-08-2007 11:45 AM

We don't generally do that unless it is a personal emergency. If that's the case send me a PM.

Hyoi 05-08-2007 11:58 AM

Ah.....the crosses we trolls have to bear.

Trilby 05-08-2007 12:00 PM

I'm so sorry you are leaving, Hung. I enjoy your posts.

If I may be so rude--why are you leaving? Natch, you don't have to answer that--I'm a nosey brat.

Whether you 'splain or no-- I will miss you.

Shawnee123 05-08-2007 01:06 PM

I'm sorry to see you go, too. You're a fun poster.

HungLikeJesus 05-08-2007 10:22 PM

Two things are motivating me to withdraw from the Cellar.

When I first arrived, I intended to just drop off an image for IOTD and be gone. So I chose a username that I thought was somewhat creative and signed up. But after I had posted a few times I began to feel that the name HungLikeJesus is very likely hurtful to a number of people. That is the primary reason that I wanted to erase the posts associated with that name, in addition to deleting the account (would BaldLikeBudda be any better? or HinduCheeseburger? No, I don't think so.).

The second thing is that, when I've occasionally found myself in threads where there is a heated debate going on, instead of being the voice of reason (as if that could help!), I've tended to poke the fire with my own sharp stick. This isn't the way I am in real life, and I regret being that way here.

I'm a little bit ambivalent because there is something I've been wanting to write for the Creative Expression forum.

monster 05-08-2007 10:42 PM

HLJ is a a perfect name for a cellarite, poking with sharp sticks and being a secret inner self is good here, and just do it.

zippyt 05-08-2007 11:06 PM

Don't run off , if your user name is to weird PM UT he should be able to change it ,
Post your goodie in the creative wrighting thread , there is lots of good stuff there .
Besided this place is like CRACK , you get a little tast and you CAN'T quit !!

Undertoad 05-08-2007 11:46 PM

Yeah if all you want is a username change, just tell me what you want the new one to be.

And if I missed it at the contact us form you can pelt me for it, I've missed a few requests recently, busy.

Beestie 05-08-2007 11:56 PM

Hell, I've changed mine 23 times already. Problem is I keep forgetting what it was and keep changing it to the same one. Gonna have to start writing stuff down.

bluecuracao 05-08-2007 11:58 PM

I like seeing your name around, HLJ--it makes me smile. Plus. it reminds me of when my Jewish fiance had to go to christmas mass with me one year. He looked up and said, "shit, look what they did to that other Jew!"

If they are truly offended, not a little irked/miffed/annoyed but really offended, they won't last long around here anyway.

DucksNuts 05-09-2007 05:58 AM

Awwww c'mon HLJ, change your name or just stay as you are.

I love your poking posts, and sometimes the heated threads need a prodding to get the new p.o.vs stirred up.

LabRat 05-09-2007 10:56 AM

Please, if we grew on you that fast, just change your name. HLJ is a good one to change it to, since 'we' won't forget who you are and it shouldn't offend anyone so then you can still stay. Just cuz you stirred some shit around a little before, doesn't mean we won't take other posts seriously. Cripes, have you learned nothing from LJ?

*insert some soppy flowery crap about growing and life and shit here*

HungLikeJesus 05-09-2007 12:55 PM

I really didn't expect such an encouraging response.

Ok, I'll stay - under two conditions:
1) I can change my name to HLJ (though I also like TylerDurden; Lord Undertoad, I'll let you know)
2) I think we all need to see a little more NSFW exposure in the Quality Images forum. Think of the positive health benefits! Will anyone second that motion?

(xoB, I thought you were one of the ones the name offended. 135 posts and still no "Welcome to the Cellar" :mecry:)

monster 05-09-2007 01:35 PM

We could have a poll and vote for your new username.

What about HungLikeJedi? This is the user name you are looking for. Bodacious it is.

HasLargeJujustick?
HatesLumberJim?
HineyLikeJello?

HungLikeJesus 05-09-2007 02:07 PM

Monster, that's a great idea.

Here are a few suggestions:
HungLikeJesus (i.e. keep existing name)
HLJ (for continuity)
HungLikeJedi (thanks Monster)
TylerDurden (see: Fight Club)
X (easy to spell, hard to google)
incogNeato
VoiceInMyHead
Others?

I would be happy to have Cellarite input.

lumberjim 05-09-2007 02:58 PM

monster totally wants me.

oh, and we did this for blue58. it was fun. he is blue now. just so you know, hung, all of the posts you've made to date will appear under the new changed name....so no sense deleting.

i have a few to offer:

Hung

JohnnyChimpo

Merlin

You ( just for the confusion it would cause)

SchputztheGoop

beefcakes

pointystick

Clodfobble 05-09-2007 06:26 PM

I definitely think you should keep the acronym.

Change it to simply HLJ, and change your sig to this massive list we've developed.

That's a good idea - and allows for a lot of flexibility.

Also, it could keep lumberjim busy for weeks.

Elspode 05-09-2007 07:23 PM

WTF is wrong with HungLikeJesus as a handle? First off, you can take it two ways, and second, if someone is offended by it, they are really, really in the wrong place to begin with and should just move along.

People that thin skinned would peel like an onion around here.

DucksNuts 05-09-2007 07:45 PM

I'm lurve TylerDurden!!!!

But I agree with keeping the acronym, and HairyLegsJones gets my vote.

Why are there soooo many referring to LJ and his life? am I missing something?

monster 05-09-2007 08:10 PM

It's my latest obsession...

Clodfobble - your last suggestion made me think of HastyLoveJuice, but that's not how I would like to be pictured.

I imagine the references to LJ are because it's similar to HLJ.

I watched Fight Club last weekend and Tyler Durden has a lot of good lines, like:
================================
"Fuck off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may."

and

"Hey, you created me. I didn't create some loser alter-ego to make myself feel better. Take some responsibility!"

and

"The things you own end up owning you."
=================================
I still think that Ibram has the best idea, so far.

lumberjim 05-10-2007 12:00 AM

id like to change my name to hunglikelumberjim

HungLikeJesus 05-10-2007 11:56 AM

Done

Well, what started out as a farewell thread has resulted in a modified user name. Thanks to all who contributed to the dialog.

I shall now be known as HLJ.

Now I just have to resist posting in any thread involving guns and religion.

LR - I'm a little shocked :shocking: that, so far, no one has seconded the motion "I think we all need to see a little more NSFW exposure in the Quality Images forum." Your recent post was a major factor in my decision to stay. I did respond to your belly post.

xoxoxoBruce 05-10-2007 06:50 PM

Hmmm ... HLJ? It that like George Jr?

I'm trying to think of a response, but it's difficult because I don't understand the question.

grant - it looks like you're sticking with "grant." I think that that's best.

HungLikeJesus 06-18-2007 09:05 PM

Perry Winkle -- TPFKA grant -- user names are frequently shortened to their initials. Some might now call you PW - but I will not.

DucksNuts 06-18-2007 09:29 PM

Crap HLJ, since you did the PW thing, now Grant will be in my head as PeeWee.

I dont think that was what he was going for!!!

I've been trying to figure out exactly... even vaguely... what he was going for with Perry Winkle.

monster 06-18-2007 10:59 PM

I think he was going for teh ghey, to throw his girly off the scent so he can talk about her freely :D

Perry Winkle 06-19-2007 12:08 AM

Actually when I went and though about a new name. The word "periwinkle" came to mind. As a kid I had a friend named "Pericles" but at school he wrote it "Perry"... thus, "Perry Winkle" *shrug*

HungLikeJesus 06-19-2007 12:13 AM

Perry -- it's a fine name. I didn't mean to be unkind.

periwinkle was my favorite color as a little kid. I had a crayon named that, so I thought it was cool.

Periwinkle was one of my favorites, too. I think it's still in there...

from the crayon website:

In response to educators' requests, “Prussian blue” is renamed “midnight blue.” Teachers felt that children were no longer familiar enough with Prussian history to recognize that this crayon color referred to the famous deep-blue uniforms of Prussian soldiers.

Well gee, they could have used it as an opportunity to, I don't know...educate? You just never hear much about the Prussian and the blue anymore.
