I was watching a documentary this weekend on the origin of the Bloods and Crypts and how the police are helpless trying to stop them. Shouldn't the National Guard be taking care of these guys? There should be a law stating that if you assemble more than "x" amount of armed and dangerous people, which the community considers a threat, than it should be treated in a military manner.

No, because that leave open the option for the national guard to break up protest groups, or the NRA or whatever.

Dangerous according to who? Too much room for abuse.

Train the cops better, isolate the gangs more from the 'civilians', and prosecute all gang members caught to the fullest extent of the law.

if by "train the cops better" you mean assemble a "platoon" of cops, trained in military style battle, then yes i agree

Hell, just look at congress! Two sides, radically opposed, doing everything they can to hurt the other team, and certainly ANYONE would agree that theyre dangerous and a threat - just look at them!

By many people's definition my gun club, old skeet club, target buddies and family are dangerous armed gangs. Those people would be morons, but they would still think it.

And for the record, it should be "Crips" not "Crypts."

I've watched a city of a couple hundred thousand go down the drain at the hands of the Latin Kings and two smaller rival gangs. White flight, black flight, business flight... fear and loathing.

Right now in Philadelphia, people are killed in the street every day, and nobody sees a thing. Nope, not me, didn't see nothing, no how, no way.... followed by, why aren't the police doing something?

The police are powerless to help the community if the community won't help the police.

Bruce, what would you spark if you sent that post to the Letters to the Editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer? Might those three paras be the straw that tips the balance?

It's not original thought. Been said many times, many ways, by many people. Even the people on the block where the killing takes place, that they inevetably have on the 6 PM news, say it. But nothing comes of it.

I was looking for a new line to use when I wanted to blow off guys I didn't want to talk to without being mean. I know I can work it in.

Example:

The guy will say, "Hey you want to go out sometime?" I'll say,"No, I like to keep it casual." :cool:

"I know we've been dating a while. I'd like to know what your feelings about us are" I'd say, "Casual is good" :cool:

LOL the national gaurd to stop the bloods and crips wow u guys are too funny. You cant stop them because they have social agendas they are like any other assocation, but usually dont always do it for everyones well being obviously u arent gonna stop gangs there will always be people not liking each other and thats how it will be. On plausible solution to stop them probly none too hard to take out thoes gangs and the kings and other well established gangs.

You can't take them out with force. You can only take out individuals that have broken the law, and that's a never ending job.

The only force that can stop these gangs is the people. Parents keeping their children out, people cooperating with the police when they witness crime in the streets,and people not treating them as local heros.

The gangs will wither and die if the people make them uncool.

Yes. That is why the "war on terror" is such a stupid idea. Most of the terrorist organizations around Israel are surviving because they are fighting for the people and because the people support them. If you can shift the people's perspective on Israel, those groups will become outcasts.

pierce hypothetically speaking, if i came to your house busted down the front door, and moved in another family that took over your entire house and forced you into the basement, what do you think my chances of shifting your perspective of them would be?

Probably very small but the point is Israel is doing nothing to help themselves out. They are taking an us against the world approach to the Middle East, which can have no positive aftereffects.
