Toot your horn

I'll start this thread. But I've always been told, in a bull shit deal. The first liar doesn't stand a chance. I'll wait.
So someone blow their horn.
We have people from all walks of life here in the cellar.
I'm guessing Dr's, professionals, like IT, sales, management, lab work, truck drivers, pilots, drunks, perverts, jesus freaks and don't forget the sob driving the ugly mini-bus. Sorry, can't spell the color.
Any lawyers have so far, have remained incognito??

Hell, we're just like the senate or congress.
So, some among us haven't been too bashful about jumping into threads with all their great worldly feats.
So let it rip.

lumberjim 08-19-2007 09:55 PM

i can tear a phone book in half

zippyt 08-19-2007 10:10 PM

I set 2 truck scales in less than 4 hours once !!

Cloud 08-19-2007 10:48 PM

My worldly feets both have eyes tattooed on them.

I cannot tie a cherry stem with my tongue.

BUT!

I love to give head anyway. :)

yesman065 08-19-2007 11:06 PM

I redid my kitchen without having any prior experience and it came out awesome. Refinished all the cabinets, installed new doors & drawers, new countertop, backsplash, fan, appliances and new cherry laminate flooring. I even ripped out and rebuilt the island complete with staining to match the cabinets. Since then, two neighbors have asked me to do theirs.

fargon 08-19-2007 11:07 PM

Toot, Toot!!!

Cloud 08-19-2007 11:22 PM

Admit it? Hell, I told you before, I'd stand on the sidewalk in a sandwich board giving them away!

. . . be kinda hard to kneel down, though. :D

ETA: just realized how amusing this little discussion detour is--given the title of the thread!

yesman065 08-19-2007 11:39 PM

butt butt butt - I redid the kitchen :right:

lumberjim 08-19-2007 11:41 PM

Easily solved. Head in the kitchen!

Sundae 08-20-2007 11:21 AM

I'm sure this thread is supposed to celebrate what we have achieved
But I'd like to celebrate the fact that I HAVE SUPER TEETH

yes, despite not visiting a dentist for 10 years
despite all those nights I fell into bed drunk and didn't clean, let alone floss
despite the period last year when I didn't clean them at all (depths of depression)

I went to the dentist today and although he wants to de-scale my lower front teeth as there is a buildup of plaque, he says they are in very good condition

I have never had a tooth out and I have no fillings
toot for me and my super teeth

DanaC 08-20-2007 12:10 PM

Toot Toot!

skysidhe 08-20-2007 12:15 PM

I am not one of those bitchy females.

I love men, animals and nature.

..............and nice women like DanaC ...and ect.

Bigfoot 08-20-2007 12:39 PM

everybody has something inside them that they love, they may not see it through what they hate, but there is something somewhere inside them that they love

so not everyone admits it or knows it but one day, they will turn around and think wow, I'm great!

and from that minute on, they are arrogant.

DanaC 08-20-2007 12:58 PM

I wish I had something inside me which I loved.....*grins*

HungLikeJesus 10-02-2007 11:25 AM

I hope the link works for you (it does for me, but I'm on campus and I think that makes a difference). If not I'll try to figure out a way for those to see it if you wish. Let me know. Enjoy! :D

Hippocampus?

The link worked for me, and I'm on dial-up... very slow dial-up, and using SeaMonkey for my browser, so I expect it should work for about anybody.

I have not yet tried any of the recipes.

Aliantha 10-02-2007 06:42 PM

I've just realized that I DO have a talent but it's an old one.

In my younger days, I was a member of the Australian National Youth Choir.

TheMercenary 10-03-2007 05:37 AM

I built an outdoor fireplace and never had layed a brick in my life before that. I had to read and research fireplace construction, how to make firebrick mortor, come up with other ideas on how to use rock from a quary to decorate it, how to get all that shit to stick to it, how to do stucco for the first time, stain the stuff.... and it only took me about 8 months in my time off.

DanaC 10-03-2007 05:53 AM

When I fell into teaching adult-lit, I was so damn good at it my trainer and co-workers said I was a born teacher:)

Happy Monkey 10-03-2007 12:12 PM

I got the Order of the Silver Wossname in Kingdom of Loathing!

What do you mean, that's not a real accomplishment?

Aliantha 10-03-2007 05:34 PM

Well that was my first giggle of the day. Nice one HM. ;)

vivant 10-07-2007 08:36 AM

I just paid off the last of my car and credit debt - woot! $35K in just over 3 years of defensive tackling.

I feel 35K lbs lighter ;)

Congrats to me and to the others on this thread for such impressive accomplishements!

Aliantha 10-07-2007 04:58 PM

that's great news vivant!

There are a couple of members on this forum that might find that post inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

DanaC 10-07-2007 05:21 PM

My favorite line:

Are you sure it wasn't, "Igor, prepare the tissue chopper?"

Griff 10-07-2007 08:35 PM

I pulled my kid whisperer routine at my new job Friday. Two staffers got bitten so they called in the new guy (the hero of our tale a certain Griff) who had the little guy chilling out on his lap when Mom arrived.

Go me!

Aliantha 10-07-2007 08:49 PM

You're a superstar Griff. Can you come over to my house?

Griff 10-07-2007 08:52 PM

Cover my airfair?;)

Aliantha 10-07-2007 08:53 PM

Sure, I'll put it on the credit card. Hubby wont notice till after you're gone. ;)

DucksNuts 10-07-2007 09:50 PM

Go halvies with you Ali....then Griff can come down here!

Aliantha 10-07-2007 09:58 PM

sounds like a great plan ducksy. :alien:

monster 10-07-2007 10:30 PM

Griff, all you need to do is call your busines "Griff Under Cover" and they can pass it off as a lingerie bill.... (Ladies, just dig out some old stuff, run it through the wash with red soccer socks.....)

Aliantha 10-07-2007 10:37 PM

lol...yehaaa....we have a plan!

I climbed this:
Well there were only a few sections that were serious, and it was aid climbing (stout stainless steel chain) when necessary.
But still... 2999 meters, 10,000 feet.

Razzmatazz13 10-09-2007 02:06 PM

I think I'm just going to follow ZenGum around the board for the next few days....cool posts:thumb: (luuuuuurvely photo!)

Cicero 10-09-2007 02:13 PM

I'm not tooting my horn or anything....but I'll be stalking Zen too.
No really...
I finally figured out how to open a beer bottle with a lighter....this took years. I called it "the boy trick" because I've never seen a woman do it or be able to. But now I can do it. My trick too.

theotherguy 10-09-2007 02:36 PM

DAMN IT! OK, who showed Cicero how to do the trick? Huh? Who was it? Well, when I find out, you are certainly out of the He-Man Woman Haters club.

skysidhe 10-09-2007 02:57 PM

Very nice place ZenGum. Congradulations on the climb.

Here are my other two favourite shots of that trip:
The first is the ascent route, a section called Kani-no-Tatebai (Crab's-upward-scuttle). There are three people in the shot for scale, going roughly up the middle of the picture.

The second is the descent route, which follows the ridge. The lighter gray line tracing over the lump in the middle distance is the path. Those other guys were some hard core climbers who came up by an alternate (harder) route.

This being Japan, there were at least 20 other people who did that mountain that day - and one jerk made a mobile phone call from the peak. Way to bring down my adrenaline high, bastard. :p

Even though I don't get to practise as much as I used to, when I speak Russian most people, including Russians, think I am Russian (but I'm English).
