Last week a meteor crashed in remote Peru, and it made the news because about 200 people who ran over to figure out what happened, became slightly ill.

Now we have an image of the crater, via the Mail, and it doesn't look all that menacing. In fact they now think the sickness wasn't due to anything from the rock from space, carrying some sort of Andromeda Strain virus or something. They think it was just the gases and dust unearthed from the impact.

They need a redneck games belly flop competition. They now have the perfect diving pit for it.

Of course, when it comes to meteor impacts, nothing matches the massive crater in Arizona, which is nearly a mile wide.

Still, anything falling from the sky and making a 66' diameter hole is pretty damn impressive.

Luckily, the meteors usually know to pick the remote spots to land on.

He didn't lose the soccer ball. The Peruvian player was actually doing a slide-kick for the game winning goal when God, who is a Brazilian fan, struck him with a meteor to stop him.

Soccer fans can be so cruel.

I thought about soccer ball...but 1) the stripes looked more like a volleyball to me and 2) I hate soccer and 3) I never really thought it was a ball at all ;)

It was probably not a meteorite at all, but someone's septic tank exploding.

IIRC the Winslow meteor was theorized to be about 50-100 ft in diameter
