Nirvana Philosophy
The objects of sense in the ever changing world are what we adhere to as things of reality. But in the ocean of birth and death, they drown us. How long shall we wander on these paths of dreams? This world to us indeed seems permanent and fixed; yet after all what is it, but road of mirages to which life after life we must return. He, who is forgetful of the self, is the one who wanders all over the sphere in hazy consciousness always returning to the starting point. The awakening for such a dream walker will only be like an illumination of eternity to him.

Ok, my mind just exploded [insert image from scanners here]

|

Very few people ever wake up and realize that they're not in control of anything in their lives. We're all victims of where we've been and who we've known and what we've done. People think they're free thinkers. That they make up their own minds. This is funny. Figure out why you think the things you do and you'll realize you don't have an original thought in your mind. Your perspective is determined by the society you live in. You are not awake. You're sleepwalking through life while others around you mold you and turn you every which way...without even knowing it.
|
horshit.
|
I'm sure that's what you believe. :) But we all start from nothing, and we learn one little thing, which leads to the next, and then those prelearned things bias how we learn the next thing...which all leads to hor[se]shit for you.
|
happy phantom? |
Living in the now. Waking up and being in the present. Such a trendy philosopy right now.
Is that kinda like alzheimer's? living in the now? |
I don't think it's like alzheimers. That's a horrible disease. Apparently enlightenment is quite pleasant.
|
Sure, ask any double belly button Christian.
|
Do you have to be Christian to be enlightened?
|
Certainly not, but the double belly buttons feel they are, in spades.
|
And what's a double belly button?
|
Reborn.
|
Right. My post wasn't about christianity though, or god or any religion. I'm not sure that you have to be religious to be enlightened or to be aware. I'm pretty sure that's not the point of the OP. It definitely wasn't my point.
|
It was my point. A lot of people experience a warm and fuzzy glow, when the feel they are enlightened. What makes people feel they are enlightened varies widely... very widely.
|
From what I've learned about my particular brand of enlightenment, that warm glow would be associated with self satisfaction. The feeling that you've got some prize no one else knows about or is entitled to. I don't know how it would really feel. I think I'm just as fucked up as the rest of the world, but I'm almost certain you're not supposed to feel special. You're supposed to just feel love (or whatever word you want to use to describe the feeling you get from being at peace with everyone and everything).

feel this

I was thinking about Tori Amos, too, but I sort of relate her with Nirvana Philosophy because she did a version of "Come As You Are" that I really enjoyed.

2. This energy tends to break down into various different forms as result of laws of physics. 4. The broken energy may evolve itself as an organic form under suitable conditions. 5. And hence forth the seprated energy may start to think of itself as a unique entity. 6. But the fact remains that this seprated form is nothing but a small channel from the main sea. 7. And the very point is about realization of this fact. Its nothing about remembering or forgetting. 8. Hungry ghosts are merely the psychological-social complexity product of human world. And Nirvana cant be told, it can only be experienced. |
and again, may I add ... horshit.
I do appreciate how you managed to shoehorn a little physics in there. It makes it seem all sciency. |

We are, each of us, the combined sum total of all our individual life experiences. Therefore, we are never the same person - ever. We are in a constant state of evolution. As our experiences alter and mold us into that which we then subsequently become, we immediately continue to morph through our new and constantly occurring experiences into something else.
Are we ever really anything at all? BS We is what we is and thats all we're ever gonna be. |

It don't really care if you agree with me or not. You can think what I'm saying is bullshit along with the rest of the people who do. It's ok even. I know you can't possibly do anything else because of where you've been and what's happened to you. :) |
ooh...and nature vs. nurture comes out.
I'm not going to get into a "who's more buddhist" fray. Which is why I'm not buddhist anymore. (publicly) :) Good day. Troll. |
You're calling me a troll because I'm having a discussion? Very interesting. I guess that makes you one too.
|
I wasn't talking to you.

"Higher science of realization." Hmm, I find the word science there a little out of place.
|
Chili gives me a warm glow.
Seriously, if we could all be buddhas and live in the moment we would be but we must plan to eat. If you can figure out how to remove the laws of nature that way then let me know. ' cause there just isn't enough wild berries in the world for me to be anything more than mildly amuzed. I got a name if you want to talk to someone who is really in the 'know' .......(oh besides bruce). |
No, no, no, I'm far from enlightened. If I were, I wouldn't notice the annoying people who claim they are. ;)
|
Science requires falsifiability. What would possible count as evidence against your idea? If something can't be tested in any way that might possible lead to failure, it's not science.
|
Oh you thought I think you are enlightened?
oh no! 'in the know' is quite different than enlightened. A shoot from the hip person might make his mark but it is gut inspired. me thinks * shrug * |
My mistake, to me "enlightened" and "in the know", could be synonymous.
|
lol! I am always amazed at how low-brow the cellar can actually be. C'mon guys...
"Even a lotus blossom can grow from the mud." lol! You have a name if I want to blah blah blah what? Sky? What? Most major buddhist texts include the fact that women cannot attain Nirvana or Enlightenment, so I have to respectfully decline from the whole thing. If you are a woman and think you are respected in the buddhist community, think again, and read some text for yourself. If you don't find it, read some more until you do. Even in the other realms you are considered second class. How do you like that? You are not even bodhisattva until you can attain, at least, your maleness.. If you are really interested, read the old texts and ask questions until you "get it". Better luck in the next lifetime hon- and you better chant your ass off until you become a man, then you might not have the bad karma of being a woman, and then you might be on your way..... Good luck to you. Actually read something........ Lots of indigenous cultures that practice buddhism know what is in the texts......Read the literature for yourself. I didn't realize until too late what all the old Japanese women were chanting about for awhile......They really screwed up their Karma at some point because they are obviously women. Ladies, have fun with your "buddhism"..........lol! Send your money to your monk, Temple, or Kai Kon of choice. The more money you send, the better chance you have. :) Good luck being so enlightened and on the path to Nirvana!.....................~not~ That's my little spot of sunshine for you guys today. Carry on!! :) Westerners really have a glamorous idea of the basics of buddhism, and really are quite happy to stick to those, when in all reality if they would just read the indigenous material from buddhist sects, they may decide that it was never for them in the first place. Oh and another good reason you won't even be boddhisattva ladies? Your "house is full of demons" once a month...Look it up...Western suuuucckers! I am enlightened about my inability to even be "enlightened" per- the basics of buddhist philosphy and text right from the buddhas. (there are many) So whateeever!!! |
......sounds like someone has a touch of penis envy......;)

wtf! blah blah yes! now stfu I wasn't talking about you or anything really...I was just being sarcastic based on my own past personal beliefs which amount to nothing evidenced by my mixing of two schools of thought. ( or being) lol. I'm just a lousy dabbler to which I find nothing much of value in any religion in it's entirety. now what the hell are YOU talking about?? ranting about 'cause your going on and on in about 9 different directions. Are you bi polar? :) |

If you can't follow one subject from beginning to end, let me know first next time, so I can apply a title to all my posts or indicate when I intend to change subjects even though it was indicative by line breaks. I am not crazy just because you can't keep up...And if I were bi-polar, wouldn't that make you a bitch for pointing that out, consequently making fun of that condition in the first place? The subject of my post? Women: excluded from enlightenment and Nirvana. There. All spelled out. Now go on and read my response again. I'm goooing to talk alllll day now. To everyone. About everything. Good job sky. Even LJ got it, what the hell is wrong with you cracker? |

ok now you can cha(n)t your ass off 'till you become a man 'cause even a lotus blossom can grow from mud. :) |
[Cicero/] "Even a lotus blossom can grow from the mud." lol! [Cicero]
“Even amidst fierce flames - the golden lotus can be planted,” a quote from 16th century Chinese poet Wu Ch’Eng-En. |

The point of the whole thing was to discuss why I shouldn't do that, and neither should any woman, but the question is:when am I going to have to quit describing everything for you? |

lol
quite true...how about now! :) |
Ok now I'm lost.
What about now, what? |

I actually didn't think this was a discussion about Buddhism. I thought it was about the philosophy of nirvana.
Personally, I don't think buddhists have a corner on that market. |
