Sycamore: The Return

As I mentioned recently, the missus has a work-related conference in Baltimore June 8-12. I'm tagging along to show her around and visit friends in DC, Baltimore and Philly. We'll be in Philly proper June 12-15, but I might make a side trip or two while the wife is conferencing.

I would love to meet up with some of you...I can't believe it's been 3 years since I left Philly.

Suggestions? Comments? Hate mail? :)

PM me for my e-mail address or phone number.

Peace,
el sicómoro

bluecuracao 05-26-2008 02:39 PM

We could figure out which is the most centrally-located bar for Philly-area cellar dwellars, and meet up with you for some drinks...

elSicomoro 05-26-2008 04:39 PM

My personal favorite watering holes in town are Johnny Manana's in East Falls or McMenamin's in Mt. Airy. Of course, I lived near both, so I'm kinda partial to that part of town. Most Philly-area Dwellars live west or south of the city, so either of those would be fairly easy to get to. While in town, we're staying in Rittenhouse Square, but we'll have a car.

I put up a similar message on PB. I'll see if I get any bites there, too.

classicman 05-27-2008 09:35 AM

I'd like to try and meet up too - please keep me in the loop.

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:02 AM

*bump*

April and I will be in town Thursday. Friday would be a good night to hang.

classicman 06-11-2008 09:14 AM

Excellent - I'm in! I'll clear my social calender...

ok thats right - I don't have a social calender :P

Anyway, Lets decide when & where.

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:24 AM

Shit...Friday could be a problem. What does Saturday look like for people? Friday's not out just yet...but Saturday might be better.

classicman 06-11-2008 09:34 AM

see post 5 for my reply....

Huh? Post 6?

classicman 06-11-2008 10:53 AM

yeh yeh - whatever see post 6 then.

lookout123 06-11-2008 03:52 PM

geez, women are so picky. oh well, you can't live with 'em, but OJ's rarely around to kill 'em.

lumberjim 06-11-2008 04:06 PM

where will you be on Saturday night?

Undertoad 06-11-2008 06:30 PM

I'd come out but you know me!

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:19 PM

And that has what to do with the price of corn in Nebraska?

I dunno...someone suggest a place.

classicman 06-11-2008 09:25 PM

someone other than me please - I don't know any "places"

lumberjim 06-11-2008 09:38 PM

well....what area? are you staying in philly? I work until 8 usually......but i have to drive thru philly to get home......

lumberjim 06-11-2008 09:41 PM

we had a good time at Victory Brewing in downingtown. and they have free wireless, so we could sit around and chat too.

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:46 PM

Like I said originally, we're staying in Rittenhouse Square--17th and Locust. A place with lots of alcohol and food in NW Philly is good: Johnny Manana's, McMenamin's, one of the newer places in East Falls...even Chestnut Hill or Plymouth Meeting.

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:46 PM

I'm not against coming out that way, though that's a ways out for us.

lumberjim 06-11-2008 09:57 PM

get in chat

elSicomoro 06-12-2008 08:46 AM

Sorry...I was wore the hell out last night.

Talk amongst yourselves today. I'll be back online later tonight from Philly, and we can finalize shit then.

bluecuracao 06-13-2008 10:36 AM

My fiance, a.k.a. Monkeyboy, is bartending this Saturday at Pat Bombino's, in the Italian Market area (exact location is 9th and Catherine). It's about 3 blocks south of South Street...not all that far from where you're staying, Syc. What are you guys' thoughts on heading in the Sou'Philly direction? :)

elSicomoro 06-13-2008 10:40 AM

That would actually be cool, since I haven't taken April down to South Street yet. Of course, most of the Philly-area Dwellars that might come live west of town...

classicman 06-13-2008 12:26 PM

Somebody send me a pm as to where the meeting is and an actual street address - I am 95% sure I'll show up. I'll just need to know where I'm going.

elSicomoro 06-14-2008 12:14 AM

Anyone? Anyone?

Pat Bombino's it is.

767 S. 9th St.
Phila., PA 19147

Time TBD...probably between 7 and 8ish.

Flint 06-14-2008 12:20 AM

I read about your beard in the paper.

classicman 06-14-2008 12:30 AM

I'm in - I shall mapquest and arrive in time to party :)

elSicomoro 06-14-2008 08:09 AM

We'll be there about 8. We'd be there sooner but we have to check in for our flight (which leaves at 7:35 tomorrow night)...when you fly Southwest, you try to check in ASAP.

Cicero 06-14-2008 12:36 PM

Someone bring a camera because I'd like to see this event!!! I like humiliating photos too. Please keep this in mind.
;)
Have fun it sounds awesome!

classicman 06-14-2008 04:06 PM

ok So who all is showing up?

elSicomoro 06-14-2008 05:13 PM

Probably me, you and blue. I'm not saying this out of frustration or anger, but given how Cellar Dwellars are in the Philly area, I'm going to go with us 3...maybe one or two more.

Undertoad 06-14-2008 05:35 PM

We're an anti-social bunch.

lumberjim 06-14-2008 08:30 PM

i couldnt get a sitter.....

classicman 06-14-2008 11:30 PM

Had a good time with all.

Cicero 06-15-2008 01:52 PM

Ok photos?
:)

classicman 06-15-2008 02:43 PM

No photos of me - sorry.

wolf 06-15-2008 07:04 PM

Unfortunately, because of the goings-on with momWolf I wasn't able to make the Saturday evening gig, but Sycamore, the lovely MrsSyc and I had brunch today at a diner in Chestnut Hill (which worked out well for me because I had to head up to the hospital afterwards). MrsSycamore is even cooler than Syc's descriptions had indicated, and we had a fantastic time.

Sorry I missed out on meeting you and blue curacao, classicman.

Perhaps the opportunity will present itself again!

bluecuracao 06-16-2008 08:44 AM

I hadn't checked the Cellar since Friday, so when I strolled into Pat Bombino's at about 9:30-ish on Saturday night, I was pretty surprised to see Mr. and Mrs. Sycamore sitting at Monkeyboy's bar. I was so surprised, that I completely blanked on Mrs. Syc's name (sorry about that!!). And then classicman showed up a few minutes later. I had a great time hanging out with you guys!

Oh, and there IS a photo--not terribly incriminating (we were all way too sober), but a photo nonetheless...

:)
Is that you classic? Who is that?

That is indeed Mr. Classicman.

Oh, here's a photo of Wolf and I from Sunday morning:

Sundae 06-19-2008 06:12 AM

Oh lovely, lovely!
Great to see you all (esp the elusive Wolf)

I hope to have a similar thread in 2010!

elSicomoro 06-19-2008 10:03 AM

We (my wife and I) might very well see you in the spring. My sister-in-law is studying in London next spring, and we hope to go over to visit her.

TheMercenary 06-19-2008 10:25 AM

Great pics! Good to see some pics that go with the nics.
