"Alternative" Names worth having another baby for....

if only for the amusement it would provide....

Monster
Beest
Heliotrope
Spam
Doggerel/Dogerella/Dogerelle/D'Ogerrel
Apostrophe. that's awesome

and we ever end up "blessed" again, we are really, truly calling it Trouble. or maybe even T'Rouble pronounced t-roo-blay just to start it off on the right foot....

:D

I've always thought Greek letters would make nice names, and they're so easy to write.

Omega would be a good one.

monster 06-02-2008 02:26 PM

Oh how cool, hadn't considered them before. Althought there's Catherine Zeta Jones....

I wonder if Epitome would be good?

Beest 06-02-2008 02:50 PM

Trouble Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam Heliotrope Spam Spam Spam Beestmonster.

Time for more practice;)

Trilby 06-02-2008 03:00 PM

goddess, it's too much pressure.

though would not be violet, elijah, skye, or hatszitywahtzits.

HungLikeJesus 06-02-2008 03:06 PM

How about Poe? Poe baby.

Sundae 06-02-2008 05:24 PM

I'll be naming a new cat at the end of the month.
I'm thinking along the lines of Dutch names as I don't want Diz to be jealous.

Mip maybe.

I think you should use your maiden name as the new child's name. Proper old family tradition which you can pretend is feminist.

Or the town of your birth.

I think Aylesbury (mine) would be quite a cool girl's name. Unless the child grew up there.

Aylesbury would be a pretty name.

Willaura (mine) would not

monster 06-02-2008 07:12 PM

Bramhall... it's a thought. Stockport would be worse... I wouldn't inflict my maiden name on my worst enemy ...or Radar's children. There's a damn good reason why I changed it when I married, and it's nothing to do with conforming....

Sundae 06-02-2008 07:33 PM

You could always name them like a pedigree cat!

Monster's Spamfeast of Beest for example.
Okay - I admit, I don't really undertsand how pedigree names work. If someone can come up with a better template I'm happy to adhere to it.

At present my daughter would be
Cherry's Aylesbury Blush
Because I wouldn't know where she was from. And I'd love it if she was a kitten after all.

My son would just be Felix Elvis Peter [surname] because that's already decided! Except he'd probably be the second coming, given that I haven't had sex in nearly two years.

monster 06-02-2008 07:36 PM

I'm liking it....

monster 06-02-2008 07:41 PM

I think I have to add budweiser to the list.

In the UK they always say to see how names sound prefaced with princess or prince.

President Budweiser Beestmonster has a good solid ring to it, doesn't it. You could trust President Bud. Spam sounds a bit weak though. Spamela? President Spamela Beestmonster, first female president of the US? Spamela should be a real name. hey Bri, when you get published you should use it as your nom de plume. Spamela Cellarite.

Sundae 06-02-2008 07:43 PM

Princess Spamweiser Beestmonster of Bramhall the Fourth
Prince Stockport Budmonster of Beestweiser the Fourth.

Just found this again!
What fun.

I called her Hely, as you will know as you follow my threads slavishly, Constant Reader. Her formal name is Hel-cat the Lady Marmaleisha. Or Patsy to HM (because she looks like Patsy Palmer, the actress who plays Bianca in EastEnders).

I'm still considering having a baby just to be able to get some more interesting names out there.

I was very disappointed to pick up an arts magazine the other day and find that Angharad Wynne-Jones is from Chicago. Whenever I saw her on our contacts list I immediately assumed she was proper Welsh and probably didn't learn English until she went to Uni etc etc. False advertising if you ask me. Bet she's never even seen Igor the Engine.

sweetwater 07-20-2008 10:25 AM

I gave my first German shepherd, who was German bred on both sides, a registered name that meant "it's unpronounceable German". Nichts ubersezliches Deutsche or something along those lines, although his call name was easier. Sometimes I referred to him as The Lord, because, you see, he was my shepherd. But I've never named a human, just voted for my choice when presented with a list.

monster 07-21-2008 04:50 PM

I wonder if anyone has ever called a kid Splash? or Spot? Pimple would be amusing. to the rest of us....

morethanpretty 07-22-2008 12:05 PM

Puritan names

Fear Abstinence is going to be my first child.

Glinda 07-22-2008 12:06 PM

Just yesterday, I heard the name Zuchina. WTF?!? I mean, I could maybe see Tomatilla or Aubergene (Auberjean?), but...

jinx 07-22-2008 01:38 PM

The Utah Baby Namer is my favorite baby name site ever.

The cream of the crop really is.

Clitoris.
I like VulvaMae.
