The Cellar Friends Cast

I'm doing a remake of the show "Friends" using an all-Cellar cast. When shall we rehearse?

Phoebe: SG

Rachel: Clod

Monica: me

Ross: classicman

Joey: Undertoad

Chandler: HLJ

Gunther: elspode

Mr Heckles: xoxoxoBruce

Ben Geller: minifob

Emma Gellar: miniRatRed

Nora Bing: jinx

Charles Bing: sheldon

Frank Buffay Jr: Flint

Janice: razzmatazz

Carol: Cicero

Susan: Cloud

Fun Bobby: LJ

(This is not to say you're exactly like the character, but rather there is something about the character that reminds me of you...good things I mean.)

Sundae 07-30-2008 11:28 AM

My Friends-mad ex-housemates used to compare me to Phoebe.
I can't see it myself, but I am flattered to have a starring role in your cast :)

Shawnee123 07-30-2008 11:29 AM

I picked her for you (or vice versa) because she's quirky, fun, cute, and an individualist.

CzinZumerzet 07-30-2008 11:31 AM

I have a very smelly cat, made famous by Phoebe's song of the same. She could feature maybe in exchange for a prawn or three...?

HungLikeJesus 07-30-2008 11:31 AM

Is that a TV show? We don't have TV. We live in the hills.

classicman 07-30-2008 11:39 AM

I'm thoroughly disgusted and embarrassed. Not that I even know who "Ross" is. I just know its gotta be bad.

Shawnee123 07-30-2008 11:46 AM

You're so Ross, your comment affirms it! ;)

SteveDallas 07-30-2008 12:30 PM

Of all the popular TV shows that I never "got", this was the most popular and the least gotten.

Shawnee123 07-30-2008 12:35 PM

I hear so many digs on the show, a lot of people don't like it. But I have to say, I think it's hilarious and I can watch rerun after rerun and still laugh.

See, Sleeve, that's why you're not in the cast. I could, however, use a personal assistant. Emphasis on ass. ;)

Undertoad 07-30-2008 12:49 PM

How YOU doin?

lookout123 07-30-2008 01:37 PM

Seinfeld I never got. Friends hooked me on the pilot episode. Loved the show. A couple summers ago I bought the collection and my sister and I watched every episode in order over a 7 week period. Love it.

also, UT is really Pete, Monica's mega rich boyfriend.

Undertoad 07-30-2008 01:43 PM

Monica is way too OCD, I wouldn't go anywhere near that personality.

I'm more like Pheobe's brother who likes to melt things.

lookout123 07-30-2008 01:48 PM

funny, i kind of had radar pegged in that slot.

i know i've said it before but the first video you put up of yourself made me stop and do a double take. you gave off the biggest john favreau vibe and i've never been able to shake it. so maybe you're Pete after he and Monica split. Who knows? Computers are your thing man.

Sheldonrs 07-30-2008 01:50 PM

"Charles Bing: sheldon"

I look like Kathleen Turner?

Shawnee123 07-30-2008 02:13 PM

Funny, I thought about Pete...but I needed someone for Joey. I thought about LJ for Joey, but then who would be Fun Bobby? I'm also missing Griff, glatt, lookout, themerc, zen, etc and so on. I thought sheldon would make a cute Gunther but who would play the headliner in the gay burlesque?

And Phoebe's brother who likes to melt things? I went with Flint because he has a bit of the Giovanni Ribisi thing going on.

So, feel free to add or change parts.

Oh, and I love Seinfeld too. I am, actually, a big sitcom ho-bag.

Cicero 07-30-2008 07:11 PM

So.....I'm the ex-wife and lesbian. Alrighty! I don't care as long as I get a part.
:)
Now....Why am I the ex-wife lesbian?!?

jinx 07-30-2008 08:18 PM

I used to watch friends, sometimes, back when it was on, but I don't know who my character is.
Funny show but they jumped the shark with all the inter-character dating/marriages imo.

I've never heard that expression before.

Clodfobble 07-30-2008 08:23 PM

It's a very common American expression--refers to when a long-running television show officially loses whatever quality it once had and devolves into stupidity. It comes from an episode of Happy Days where Fonzi enters a waterskiing competition and he must jump over a live shark.

DanaC 07-30-2008 08:24 PM

Har! wonderful. Thanks for the explanation.

Elspode 07-30-2008 08:43 PM

Well, this is the first time I've ever said this...

...I wish I'd ever seen "Friends". At least I'd know who the hell Gunther was.

It was a dolphin.

Cloud 07-30-2008 09:04 PM

had to Google Susan.

hmm.

so nice to be included!

although disappointed it wasn't "Cheers"-- so we could all get together for a drink.

SteveDallas 07-30-2008 09:04 PM

There are those who believe the expression "jumped the shark" has, itself, jumped the shark.

HungLikeJesus 07-30-2008 09:21 PM

Shouldn't this be the Cellar Friends Network?

I wouldn't mind being a sidekick if I got a rigid screening.

I really wanted you and Cloud in the cast...and Susan and Carol are close friends, and I thought of you and Cloud as being buddies. Remember, there are certain aspects that made me think of the people for the characters...I did not expect you all to be just like them. :)

I picked Chandler's mom because, as played by Morgan Fairchild, is sultry and sexy, like you.

I've seen shows go off worse deep ends, but yeah...some of it got pretty played out towards the end. Early Monica opposed to Later Monica, for example. She got so darn whiny with Chandler. I liked her as the smart-ass sarcastic (hence, me.)

I posted in the Indy Jones thread that many people are now using "Nuking the fridge" as opposed to the shark reference.

Gunther isn't gay...he has a huge crush on Rachel. His laid back attitude made me think of elspode.

Last night (yes I"m a very boring person) I was thinking about this and thought "damn...I need a part for Dana." Then I realized I forgot about Ursula. Ursula for Dana because she's unflappable and calm.

That's interesting. I never heard the expression before.

I used to get tagged as Chandler... pre-heroin.

Griff, I haven't seen the show, but you should get help for the heroin issue.

Griff 08-01-2008 10:20 AM

I'm good with the heroin. Some of us are impervious to addiction.

I've never heard the expression either. As usual, I'm late in on the game, and now its about over. ::sigh::

Sundae 08-01-2008 11:42 AM

And yet funnily enough I've heard it!
IMO it's usually used just because someone doesn't like the direction a comedy has taken - and rarely as ridiculous as the origin of the phrase implies.

Okay, I don't like it because I've heard it used about some comedies I really like...

Razzmatazz13 05-08-2010 03:10 PM

In trying to find a *completely* different thread I seached for my name...and I've never seen this thread before...

so...drudging it out of the slightly moldy forgotten about areas of the cellar...might I ask...why exactly am I Janice?

It's your voice.

Right... Also my obsession with Chanandalar Bong?
