classicman 10-13-2008 08:34 AM

That was really good Jim.

dar512 10-13-2008 10:14 AM

Thanks, Jinx. I picked up 1 & 4 for wallpaper.

BTW, your acorn closeup from a while ago is still in the wallpaper rotation.

Cicero 10-13-2008 10:14 AM

I knew I should have taken photos on my hike yesterday. The aspen's are just starting to turn here. Well, next hike I'll take the photos.

Pico and ME 10-13-2008 11:01 AM

That silhouette of your children is a wonderful shot! You have a good eye. What camera are you using and do you usually keep it at auto?

kerosene 10-13-2008 11:47 AM

Those pictures are beautiful, jinx! We get mostly yellow around here. I love seeing the reds and burgundies.

Shawnee123 10-13-2008 11:52 AM

Awesome shots and vid!

lumberjim 10-13-2008 12:46 PM

I, for one, am stunned that I haven't been abused at all about falling on my face with the camera in my hand.

spudcon 10-13-2008 12:47 PM

Beautiful family and scenery LJ. I've got to tell you tho, your camera was having a few flashbacks to the 60s, when it experimented with LSD. Colors!

Pico and ME 10-13-2008 12:50 PM

It made me lol, LJ.

You did such a nice job with the editing and all...You earned a free pass. Then again I'm hoping that Jinx has pics of that she'll post later.

Cicero 10-13-2008 12:52 PM

I don't think it's funny.... (I almost tripped over my puppy hiking yesterday)

The puppy likes to get right under my feet while we're hiking. She runs. She stops...she runs...stops right next to my feet.....

I was just impressed that you're still able to run.

jinx 10-13-2008 01:07 PM

I was concerned for both LJ and his camera when he wiped out, but I l'd mao about the first 6 times I saw the tape of it.... the sound is the best part...

Thanks for the compliments yall. :)
Pico, its a Sony a100 with the 18-200mm lens on. I usually start out out with it on auto and adjust from there.

Pico and ME 10-13-2008 01:11 PM

Yeah, it was the little 'umph' noise that got to me and then the still shot after the camera landed. It was classic comedy. I assumed that since he kept it in there, he though it was funny too.

skysidhe 10-13-2008 01:20 PM

This is a great thread, great pictures, great video,
It's kinda romantic. The background music made it whimsical. Even the wipe out tugs at the heart. It was an awww moment. Although I almost choked on my butterhorn.

lumberjim 10-13-2008 01:22 PM

butterhorn? ......sounds dirty

ooh..nevermind.. i googled it.

I thought you did it on porpoise. I laughed out loud for sure! Previous to that moment, you had a whole Blair Witch Project thing going on.

zippyt 10-13-2008 11:29 PM

Good vid ,
Oh and Jim [Nelson]HA HA !!![/nelson]

Treasenuak 10-14-2008 05:16 PM

LJ, you have a gorgeous family. And I must admit I LOLed when you tripped. No serious damage I hope? If it makes you feel any better about me laughing at you, I DID wake the baby up... -le sigh-

glatt 10-14-2008 05:24 PM

LJ has a great sense of humor for including that clip and putting it in front.

Sundae 10-14-2008 07:16 PM

Ah - I didn't follow up on this thread after seeing the first post because I was waiting to take my own (shamefully amateur) Autumn pictures.

Still, I was delighted to see why the Americans set such store by the Fall.
I enjoyed the Fall so much in this video it inspired me to want to go to America next year. I'd love to see the Fall first hand. I haven't seen anything in England (in fact in the Uk, the British Isles or even Europe) that matches the Fall here.

I thoroughly congratulate you for capturing the Fall in all its glory.

PS - genuinely, lovely vid. Apart from the bit that looked like beetles crawling all over the screen, too close to the DTs for me.

HungLikeJesus 10-14-2008 07:37 PM

Good punning, SG.

Dude, that part was the fucking best! I was thinking "Blair LumberJim Project."
The part I found funny was the musical selections to go along with Autumn in Nature. I was expecting Poulenc, Debussy or Ravel.

Get down with your bad cameraman self!

Ummm, I don't think it was that far. And then he obviously collapsed from extreme exhaustion.:p

Cicero 10-15-2008 12:31 PM

No he collapsed just for a minute so he wouldn't have to run anymore. His way of being coy about taking a break.

you're both right.

it's funny. I can do a freaking hour and a half on the treadmill, and keep my composure pretty well. halfway up the hill on this trail though, and i was gasping for breath. fucking jinx is a slavedriver too.

here's a bit more from that day:

Kitsune 10-25-2008 06:37 PM

We really don't get the whole changing leaves thing down here. There are other things to find fall colors in, I guess.

:apimp::apimp:ah, kitsune....you rock.

photography is in the eye of the photographer, is it not?

i'm really diggin that 1st pumpkin one thar. i think i'll nip it off and put it on my digital frame slideshow in my office. do you think you would autograph one and gmail it to me?

Kitsune 10-25-2008 11:18 PM

You can do whatever you like with 'em. I was actually trying to shoot a new desktop background, but they're a bit too busy for my cluttered screen.

More pumpkins!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3213/...2582ca47d0.jpg

Too bad it didn't feel like fall when I shot these earlier today. Upper 80s and sunburn.

I miss season changes.

TheMercenary 10-26-2008 08:21 PM

God I love the fall. Temps are just now dipping below 55 at night. Lovely.

Chocolatl 10-26-2008 08:49 PM

I imagine y'all are probably sick of pumpkins, at this point, but I wanted to share one of mine.

Taken on Saturday at our local pumpkin festival.

A few fall colors from the other weekend at Backbone State Park. A lot of leaves had already dropped, and the cloudy day takes away from the intensity of the leftover leaves, but here you go anyway :)

A couple shots from behind the shelter where we ate our dinner. The sun was peeking out from under the clouds on it's decent and made a pretty shot.

Big V just sent me to, "my happy place". Awesome Biiig!
I now have wallpaper for my desktop please?

Great photos labber! They even look cold! I'm freezing just looking at them. (I like the cold) :)

Nevermind. I'm just going to straight out rip you off big. It's just too late. It's on the desktop. Now I want the photo of the yellow leaves on one side and the red on the other. But this is alright. :D

Was it crowded? I was there the week before, and it was insane.

Happy Monkey 11-07-2008 01:22 PM

Extremely crowded. We parked on the road a couple minutes' walk from the lot. The second set of pictures is from the access road on the opposite side of the canal from the towpath. That was much less crowded, and resulted in some of my favorite pics.

Clodfobble 11-07-2008 02:31 PM

Gawd, you people with your seasons. We went swimming yesterday.

TheMercenary 11-07-2008 06:37 PM

78 degrees today, a bit of a cold spell last week with temps in the 60s.

Sundae 11-07-2008 06:46 PM

Seasons. I miss them.
I was sweating on the Tube today. Light jumper and light cape.

Okay I might still be running a slight temperature, but to have sweat running down my face in November... Sigh.

They put the tent over one of the outdoor pools weeks ago... it was bathtub water warm.

Cool reflection pic HM, is the building a mill or a meeting house or...?

I think the building was a lock keeper's house. It's along an old canal.

Here's a tree in the front yard, mid-change.

Happy Monkey 11-08-2008 10:25 PM

Yes, it's a lock house.

xoxoxoBruce 11-08-2008 10:54 PM

Saying, how do you know, did you try the door, would be too corny.

Nice pictures, good eye. :thumb:

Sorry it's so late, but it is still Autumn here after all.
Walking back to my parents' house from the local shop.

We live on what was originally built as a Council Estate (aka The Projects) but it can still look good. Just too bad the field in front of the house is now another part of the estate - still, we had it when we were growing up.
