how fast do you type?

http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/

I'm at 36 wpm

Juniper 11-28-2008 07:17 PM

I got 86, maybe I can get higher still :)

lumberjim 11-28-2008 07:21 PM

as a score or wpm? my score was 120.

Juniper 11-28-2008 07:53 PM

Nope my score was 352. 86 wpm.

352 points, so you achieved position 49394 of 1317845 on the ranking list

You type 447 characters per minute
You have 86 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words

I have few talents. This is one. :)

Cloud 11-28-2008 08:02 PM

505 characters per minute
94 wpm

Chocolatl 11-28-2008 08:11 PM

98 wpm, with a score of 411.

classicman 11-28-2008 08:30 PM

32 wpm. I already knew I sucked - that just confirmed it.

TheMercenary 11-28-2008 09:36 PM

Cool, 49 wpm.

footfootfoot 11-28-2008 09:56 PM

35 wpm

But I came twice with the other hand, so not bad really.

lumberjim 11-28-2008 09:58 PM

if i am composing my own words, i am a lot faster. having to type those nonsensical strings of words messes me up, coz i look at the keys, not the screen most of the time.

monster 11-28-2008 11:32 PM

30wpm after several attempts. :( I bet I can do much faster the regular 6-finger peck, but that's hard to do when treading the screen at the same time.

monster 11-28-2008 11:38 PM

yup. 41 the regular, 6-finger way. (index, middle and ring fingers on left hand, thumb and first two fingers on right)

Elspode 11-29-2008 12:38 AM

82 wpm on my first pass when I wasn't sure how it was formatted. I can probably get to 90, which is what my wpm rate has been pretty much since HS.

Tulip 11-29-2008 01:08 AM

65 correct and 3 wrong...not bad. I thought I type worse than that.

sweetwater 11-29-2008 09:33 AM

I typed 59 words with [mumble mumble] errors. Some of my errors were from missing the space between words - I guess I type like I talk! This seems to be a good place to mention that it is crazy to continue using a QWERTY keyboard on computers when Dvorak exists. Why, oh why?

Cloud 11-29-2008 10:43 AM

he built a better mousetrap . . . but caught no mice

monster 11-29-2008 10:52 AM

Jesus F. H. Spaghetti Monster you guys tripe fast! I had no idea such speeds were possible, but then I guess I never really devoted a lot of time to thinking about it. And I don't have to do it for a living.

Funny, though, we were discussing the necessity of triping skills with our sprogs just yesterday morning and I had already decided I really needed to dig out that Mavis Beacon program and practice what I preach. I guess this seals that deal, huh?

By the way I just triped this whole reply without looking at the keyboard once and was suprised to realize that my fingers actually do seem to know where the letters are now without me having to think too hard. Especially the delete key! :D

Good site Classic. I'm thinking you can remove this after 30 days and reinstall.
letterchase.

classicman 11-29-2008 11:44 PM

Thanks bb, as you can see by my score I think I need to visit it a little more.

BrianR 11-30-2008 12:31 AM

I only got 25 wpm... but I've been clocked at 45 when I'm free-composing something.

I just never quite got over looking at my fingers when I type. I took a typing class in school and when the teacher put a cloth over my hands, I went from excellent to gibberish.

Oh well.

Nirvana 11-30-2008 10:46 AM

32 words no errors. I have never had a typing class and it shows! :D

glatt 12-01-2008 01:00 PM

Huh, I just got 23 words per minute with zero errors, but I know I can type a little faster than that. I was having technical difficulties.

wolf 12-01-2008 01:46 PM

84 wpm, but I'm off my game. When I was typing professionally (instead of the occasional semi-pro stuff I do now) I was around 120 wpm.

I don't do as well at the nonsensical lists of words typing tests ... give me a paragraph to copy and I think you get a more accurate rating.

(Anybody who has been in IM with me knows how fast I type).

Cloud 12-01-2008 02:30 PM

I suck at typing tests--always get nervous. So strange--I don't get nervous before people.

unless I have to sing.

Locoluis 12-02-2008 09:02 AM

Hi. 53 wpm at keybr.com. I think I can do much better.

I was taught to type without seeing the keys during a traumatic typing class, which I almost failed. Although I'm nowhere near professional, I tend to type without many errors, and I rarely miss my home keys.

OTOH, I'm too used to type on normal desktop keyboards. Put me in front of a laptop and I suffer. I want to buy a Model M keyboard when I have less debt.

xoxoxoBruce 12-02-2008 12:04 PM

Welcome to the Cellar, Locoluis. :D

lookout123 12-02-2008 12:45 PM

56, 55, 60 with zero errors.

Aren't all typing classes traumatic? (or did they club a baby seal at the beginning of class before they made you type?)

That's why I never took one.

Cloud 12-02-2008 08:19 PM

you can type fast on a laptop? (doubtful moue)

I like the microsoft ergonomic keyboard

wolf 12-02-2008 11:14 PM

Is that the split in the middle curvy one?

I can't type worth a darn on one of those. I fly on even a crappy standard keyboard.

Pie 12-03-2008 02:52 PM

52 with 1 error. Somehow I pluralized leave, I think.
